Hey all! I tried Alissa's recipe for guacamole. It smelled great, but I just can't seem to take to the taste of avacado. I need more good fat in my diet. Is it an acquired taste or what? To me avacado is bland, but I like the texture. Help!

Have you tried the Lemon pudding? You do not even taste the avacado. It is out of this world!

Do your guacamole different then. I to find avacado itself to be rather bland. I make my guacamole w/ diced tomatos, minced/diced onion, a good sprinkling of cayane pepper, maybe a squirt of lime or a dash of herbamare seasoning. Then I let it sit for the flavors to mingle for a while, then it is quite tastey! I also mash my avacado and then mix the other ingredients in. YOu can play with it by adding one thing at a time until you get it right. It's fun to experiment!

Have you tried different varieties of avocadoes?
There are a lot of different varieties.... each has its own particular taste.
So far, I like all of the ones that I have tried.

When recipes are too bland, you can spice them up more. I'm not (nor have I ever been) a guac fan myself...but it's good spread in the collard wraps with the other stuff. I also have to omit the cilantro as I am not keen on that flavor either!
But as was suggested, you can try avocado in other recipes such as salad dressings and puddings. Maraw's chocolate pudding is WONDERFUL and you'd never know avocado was in it! Her recipe is on her site - www.therawtable.com under the recipe section. I do tend to use a tad less cocoa (or cacao) and I use regular agave as opposed to dark and it's still great!

If you add more tomato, onion, etc. it can take over a little more so you won't taste the avo too much. Try that!

I used to think avocados were absolutely disgusting. They were like mouthfuls of butter to me. Then once I went raw, I tried the spicy taco recipe and from then on, I've liked them. In stuff, alone, with sea salt, without, whatever. I, however, do NOT like guacamole still. I think it's so gross.

Hmm, trying to think of ways but everyone has mentioned them. Oh and the lemon pudding, close your eyes while you eat it cause it's green!
I've always loved avocadoes and just eat them as if...so I've never had this problem.

I add some Herbamere to my avos and it makes all the difference.

This is very strange, but I don't like guacamole alone. I ONLY like it wrapped in nori sheets. For some reason, the seaweed and guacamole go very well together. I've been totally addicted and having it every night, and I even day dreamed about it yesterday. :p
