Well I am kind of emabarrassed by this, even though I know I shouldn't be. I am having a breakout of herpes, I also have a canker sore in my mouth. I am so close to taking my lovely Valtrex becasue they are all painful, but I also think they are detox.I am just wondering if anyone else had these breakouts too, and if they made it though with out the medicine. I don't want to stifle a detox, but I just don't know if herpes is something that will go away. Any personal experence would be fabulous!!!

DO NOT TAKE THE DRUGS!!! Go 100% raw. They WILL go away unless you take the drugs...then it will continue on because the drugs will suppress the symptoms, not eliminate the cause. IF the "lovely" drugs eliminated the cause you wouldn't still be experiencing this.

Check what you eat before an outbreak. Bread? Items with sugar? If yes, they NEED to be eliminated.

I work with quite a few people with herpes. Just like the "common cold", it's an immunity challenge. Build the immunity with good food, eliminate the challenge.

I agree with Revvell. I don't have any personal experience with genital herpes, and I've had very, VERY few cold sores in my lifetime, and none in years. But I have very strong feelings towards prescriptions and doctors now, just as of the past few months. I hate seeing my mom excited because her cholesterol levels went down because of taking Lipitor, instead of changing eating habits.

It probably is detox, and as long as you feed your body what it needs, it should be over in no time. :) good luck & well wishes.

When I was younger I used to get canker sores regularly (which if I'm not mistaken is only a very slightly different virus), then, in several years leading up to raw, I didn't get them... but then when I went 100% raw last year, I got several "tingly" spots and small bumps which made me think they were coming back. I stayed raw and that was the end of that. I blamed it on detox. I've had no problems since then.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought it was detox, but I have been preached at about it being viral so much that I was just hoping someone had a similar experience.

Hope it clears up soon.

I got outbreaks while I was transitioning.....very few thereafter....and next to none in recent years. I would avoid taking medication. Just my opinion / experiences.

I have met people with severe fibromyalgia who got herpes - from where is unknown - these woman insisted that they had only ever had their husbands as partners and their husbands did not have the herpes.....so I now think that the commonly accepted means of transmission is not the only means of transmission. I don't know if this belongs here but because of the "embarassed".

So everyone is saying that herpes clears up with raw but is it cured with raw? So if you have a herpe breakout and it c lears up from raw does it go away to the point you cant give it to someone else as long as you stay raw?

I was diadgnosed with the virus about 6 years ago when I got an odd patch of bumps on my inner thigh. And that baffled / shocked me  when the Dr handed me the Valtrex and the diagnosis. He asked me about occurrances of cancer sores but other than sores from rough foods like walnuts, never get them.

I took the Valtrex for a brief time then ditched it..and I have not had another outbreak since the first one. Even in my year raw and detox I was fine.

Stay raw !! :D

No. Only during outbreaks/open sores.

Only recently have people been advising that herpes CAN be passed along even when you're not having an outbreak. Because that's a lifelong problem that comes with an absolute ton of stigma, I would say that it's not worth slacking on. I'd say use protection no matter what. Even if you haven't had an outbreak in 5 years. You just never know.

Herpes is pretty weird, huh? I have the oral herpes. I've only had 3 outbreaks, ever, and I have no idea what brought them on, but it's funny because both of my parents have it and kisses goodnight throughout my childhood never transferred it to me? I didn't have my first sore until I was 24, when it seems I should've had it for a LONG time before that. I'm sure there has to be some food trigger like Revell said. Or maybe stress triggers it. Or maybe all kinds of things trigger it lol.

Congrats to you all who've had less/no outbreaks since going raw! That's amazing!

I have heard red algae is good. I was told this by an Acupuncturist who has the virus.

I have had cold sores on my mouth since I was a child, way before anyone knew about herpes.

It was always during the summer, OR when I was major stressed, OR when getting my hair cut or going to the dentist, all stressers for me.

I used to get them all the time when dating an intense sign, like Aires, Leo or Scorpio, then I would get them all the time,

only on my mouth.

When I started dating Earth or water signs, no herpes.

when I went raw, no herpes, I used to take Zolof, or some such medication, very expensive, had to take 50 pills and it would stop in a week, if I didn't take the pills it would stop in a week, so I quit taking the medication

I know that taking L-lysine is supposed to help,

but when ever I get that tingly sensation, I stop what I'm doing, take a valerian capsule and sit down and meditate, it is a warning to me that I am getting over stressed, and I have been able to keep them from surfacing by doing this many times, over the last 8 years or so.

But, If I allow that to continue, and don't meditate then I can rest assured, I'll have a big huge cold sore on my mouth with massive pain and it lasts at least a week.

I can't even remember the last time I had a cold sore, I think it was many years ago, I don't normally get too stressed about things, unless I'm with someone else who gets all crazy stressed, then I empathically pick it up. LOL

So.......... you may wish to try meditation, valerian root capsules and L-lysine, these all work well for me, and don't hang around stressed out people. LOL

When we say a natural remedy "helps" "works" "it's good" "alleviates"...what do we mean by that??

I too suffer from herpes and have too tried Valtrex...and eventually I went with my own intuit about things and sought natural or homeopathic remedies. The only thing that has worked for me in it's entirety is DMSO and O2. If you are not at a point of being 100% raw right now....then I would suggest looking into DMSO and O2. It has been a great benefit to me. The worst thing that could happen is that you try it and you find no benefit..but I doubt that very seriously.

Over the years there have been many articles debating if cold sore herpes and genital herpes are or are not related. The most recent conclusion that I read (and I have no articles to back me up here) was that a mouth cold sore could transmit genital herpes if placed on the genitalia. I would rather be safe than sorry. People can go many years without an outbreak so I would also like to know if people think that raw can cure it.

I don't know what to say here...things I've suffered from (not herpes specifically) never went away or even improved upon going raw. Some things seem to need something stronger. (No, fasting doesn't work either; believe me; I've tried it, too), but still, I am firmly against traditional medicine. I would find some sort of herb or essential oil to help with it if you can't get it to leave completely.

ive read the herb FEVERFEW helps with herpes .

and also the suppliments LYSINE and VITAMIN E , besides E internally its also applied externally directly to sore . by the way wheat germ oil is a great natural source of E that you could incorporate into diet .

I've been dealing with herpes for a while -- Most will say it isn't curable, but of course it is possible to cure anything. Herpes is a VIRUS, so like all viruses it can only survive in an anerobic condition. The answer to that is flooding your body with oxygen, both internally and externally. Raw foods is great, but I personally have not found it to be enough. Daily green juice, avoiding foods high in arginine (nuts!), alkaline foods are all essential. Aerobic exercise. Also externally applying hydrogen peroxide and DMSO is incredible. Use CAUTION though. DMSO is a SOLVENT. So know what you're doing with it... I recommend getting a small spray bottle and using that. DMSO will take anything present on your skin into your bloodstream, similar to an injection. Taking zinc and B-12 will usually help, because if you have a virus in your body you are probably deficient in these. Stress is also a huge factor with herpes, so yoga and deep breathing can be really helpful.

Onward and upward!

Put some diaper rash cream with zinc oxide and they will go away very quickly and if you put it on as soon as you feel tingling, they won't even show up. Forget dangerous drugs.I used it on the lips, i don't know if it would work for genital herpes, but probably would - it is the same kind of virus, isn't it?
