I woke yesterday with a tiny sore throat, stayed home from work, slept, ate lots of good foods and drank a gallon and a half of water and now its 1:30 in the morning and I woke with an awful sore throat. :(
So what suggestions do you all have for helping with this? In the past I used ginger tea, salt gargles, slippery elm. Gonna make some carrot-ginger juice as soon as I can, when the rest of the house wakes up.
I am concerned this is strep throat, as one of my patients came back positive for a throat culture. I am debating if I want a throat culture to confirm knowing the DR will want to put me on antibiotics. there is a better way.

Ahh, my poor hubbs is dealing with awful things. I didnt think it was possible at such a beautiful time of year, but nowadays I guess you never know what someone can pass along to you. Or when.
The vitamin C will be amazing for you, but I've heard soooo many ppl say they get better results NOT eating or eating very less to speed up recovery. If you feel that you are STARVING, my goodness eat.eat.eat. But I noticed that a good rush of AWESOME raw foods can still cause ppl to be uncomfortable.
I think your throat is wanting rest. A gallon & a half of swallowing water alone..... not counting the food. Your poor throat. Unfortunately, I dont think it's a matter of energizing your SPIRIT. THat's being managed... your body is wanting/needing some rest.
JMO, but I'm sending some huggs your way

Opinion:
-You can't back your way into heaven.
-Don't try to supress symptoms - but simply increase the simplicity and good areas of your diet (and other areas of your life) - while cutting out those areas that YOU think are bad.
-On the practical side: Light fasting, light exercise, juicing, mono-eating, reasonable sunlight, positive thoughts, passionate personal life, and a job that makes you feel you have a purpose. All of these things can assist you - but nothing can and should prevent stored up disease from coming to the surface for healing. You'll be the stronger for it.
-Just my experience.
-What do you think?

I have to agree with David Mason, but even though I know what he says is true, I find when my throat gets so sore, I end up gargling with water/oil of orgeano/celtic sea salt to give me some ease for a while. Yes, it may slow down my body clearing itself out (detoxing) but it sure is nice to enough relief so that I can fall asleep. If you can do what David suggested, that is the best way :)

I had this bad tongue pain from years and years of braces and I gargled with raw honey in the shower (since I use it for my face). And wow...pain is gone!

One of the things that has always worked for me (regarding strep throat) is to gargle with apple cider vinegar (and water) three or four times a day. It actually changes the acid balance in the throat so strep throat can't survive.

drink nothing but water or juice. allow your body the chance to fight off whatever it is; itll do this if the energy usually directed towards digestion is instead directed towards the problem..which it will be if you liquid fast
