romaine lettuce waxed?

I bought a bag of 3 romaine stalks from walmart... do they put any kind of wax on it?

I've never heard of wax on lettuce before. What makes you think there is?

don't think so, but I always buy organic lettuce.

I guess that is the thing now, selling Romaine in stalks of three. I got some from my favorite store. I think it is just that Romaine taste so much better than Iceburg..........

Romaine is also better nutritionally than iceberg.

I don't think that they wax them. My husband and I go through 30 of those romaine hearts a week (10 bags of 3) and they never look or taste waxy to me. We don't buy them at Wal-Mart though, so I'm not sure which brand you're using.

For non-organic, we've had the Safeway one and one other one whose name escapes me at the moment but it's not a grocery chain brand. We choose to not own a car and we don't have a good organic source convenient by bus so we do our best in the regular produce sections.
