Well it's been so stinkin hot in the house that using the dehydrator is not a good thing.

So I set it on a bakers rack; on the porch; off the kitchen; under some shelter to keep it from getting wet from the daily rain. Is that enough prepositions? :p

Funny, I have to constantly remember that I have it on, as I cannot hear it, smell it or feel the heat from it.

Actually I really lke it out there now.

No loud humming noise, no funky smells, no bulky thing taking up so much space.

It is amazing now that it's running outside, I can harldy hear a thing. In fact, last time I used it I forgot to turn it off after taking something out and didn't even notice it was on for a while.

I highly recommend taking your dehydrator out to a covered porch.

Just don't foget it's out there! :o

i have to do that when i make onion bread... my husband gets MAJOR burning eyes when i make that recipe. so if the weather permits i put it outside. otherwise i have to lock it up in the basement and hope it isn't too bad!

Does the humidity from all the rain effect your results?

Ha ha ha!

I have been considering doing this too but mainly due to a (friendly) comment from a friend.

She said she doesnt remember a visit without the telltail low hum in the backround. She said this because I did not have it on at the time!

I also hope to be adding a 9 try and that would take up a LOT of room so I have been looking for a suitable place in the (no cars) garage! :o

And I am about to try THAT onion bread this week!

It is so dry here that the rain doesn't make much of a difference. We usually get a light to heavy shower for no more than 1/2 an hour a day, depending on how the clouds come in. It is actually a nice break, because of the heat.

I treasure the rain here and soon it will be gone and well have full sun days until late October when we normally get our first snow. At that time I'm not sure where I'll put the dehydrator (maybe in the garage which gets super cold in the winter).

Plus I crank my dehydrator up to 125-130 for the first 1-2 hours to seal the outside of what I'm dehydrating before turning it down to 115. The food hardly gets heated as much as the air around it.
