Hi all,

I'm slowly becoming raw (I know some people go 100% straight away, but it hasn't worked for me?) and am going to a health shop tomorrow that's quite far away from me and want to stock up on non fruit and veg items.
What do you keep in your cupboard? So far on my list I have organic cider vinegar, agave nectar and... That's it! Anything else?

Olive oil, nutritional yeast, nuts, seedsm, dried fruit, coconut, coconut oil, salt, pepper and other seasonings, seeds for sprouting, a few raw pumpkin seed bars and flax crackers from the health foods store.

I wound up going overboard on the sprout thing and bought too many sprouters and too many seeds. After that I tried to restrain myself and didn't buy anything unless I was sure it was going to be used. The vinegar was one of my first purchases and I've never used it at all. Only used a wee big of the agave once. Not sure what I might use it for. I don't eat sweets very often.

Well I tell ya....

53 Days 100% Raw today so let me look back and see what I have and haven't used.

I will tell you up front that as I have progressed I have added stuff.

DON'T go buy too much at first!! or buy a little of each one so if you don't like it, it won't kill you to get rid of it. :)

Almonds, Walnuts, Cashews, Seasame seeds, Raw Pumpkin Seeds, and Pine nuts have all been rebought.

Raw Olive Oil (costly but worth it) Apple Cider Vinegar (raw unprocessed), Good Sea Salt, Dried Kelp I like having spices around and they are either dried and crushed by me or I buy them from a place I trust.

I consider lemons, limes, mangos, avocados, pineapple, apples, oranges, strawberries, grapes, Celery, Thai coconuts, carrots, zuchinni, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, mushrooms, pears all basic staples and I use the seasonal stuff like cherries, sweet corn etc..... That is by no means all just some of the basics I can think of.

I am working on a huge weight loss and I still eat a lot but I'm dropping so I am not stressing over it. I eat what I want when I want and don't think another thing about it.

I have had to learn about buying too much or washing and preparing stuff so it doesn't spoil. First couple weeks I ate so much it blew my mind, next couple I wasn't all that hungry, I go back and forth so I am still finding a balance.

Find a farmers market if you can :) The fresher the better!

Sweet corn from the farmer up the road is amazing right now..

So glad you are here and ask away!! We are all here for a common Journey and we are glad you are along.

I have EVOO, ACV, dulse, and Celtic seasalt. I also have some brown rice, bean flakes, and whole wheat pasta which I haven't eaten in a while but they're still in the cupboard. (The EVOO and ACV aren't in the cupboard either - one's in the fridge and the other's standing on the stove.)

I have three jars of olives in the cupboard and one in the fridge, a few bags of peanuts on my desk at work, and part of a bag of cashews. All these are from NFL. Also some cacao nibs which I eat occasionally.

It all depends on what you like...I keep seaweed, olive oil, tahinni, sunflower seeds, raisins, almonds, pecans, dates, chick peas, honey, kava, and wheat berries in supply. Cocacoa is nice when you are starting out to have on hand if you have a chocolate attack!

I keep flax seeds, almonds, sultanas, brown rice, and oats at hand. I use them up like crazy.
That, and CARROTS (I go through about 10lbs/week due to juicing), random vegetables (bell peppers, cucumber, etc. I have a very large garden, so 90% of what I eat is fresh for 3/4 seasons, so far, as I'm only a month into Raw).

I'm learning myself what to not buy too much of... heh heh...
