Hello Everyone and Top of the Morning to You
I will be starting a juice fast on Wednesday February 9. For my faith this is our Lenten season, and a time of atonement and sacrifice. Since I have a body that recently went through a major surgery, been taking medically prescribed drugs for many years, along with a several other major surgeries, which included twice for cancer, I am rededicating my life to the one who created me, and has sustain me through all of the things in my life.
My life story is not the prettiest story, I have experinced some things that a person should never have to and especially some things that have happened should never been a part of a child's life. Sometimes the memories from my early age are frightening and whenever I hear stories of young people suffering through depravitiy, I have to stop and pray and ask that they be given as much as help as possible to heal, and to forget.
In all though, I have joy, and a peace that exceeds all understanding. I really do! and I know that restoration is possible! So with that, I have never fasted for a long period of time, and now I feel chosen and led to this. I am grieving for the loss of my body parts, and through my emotions, I am not feeling whole. With this fast, I am adapting some information from Anne and David Jubb, living on Life force, which incorporated, juicing and blended soups, and as I continue, the blended soups will be replaced by only juice.
I am home for another until the end of March, which will give the quiet time for meditiaiton, prayer, and the cleansing that I expect to receive. When allowed, I will take walks in the fresh air ( I live in the woods, so we have wonderful air), and also, do castor oil packs and of course an enema or two. This is really a blessing as I feel I am now at a fasting center.
Anyone want to join in this with me. I would love to have that energy you will provide - or just add me to your positive pray list as how you worship.I plan to go the full six weeks, but if you can only do one full day, I would love to have you with me.
It is a spiritual journey for me, to help heal, body, mind and soul. It is an opportunity for me to become re-acquainted with me, and open up new areas that I never investigated or ones I have suppressed. My major goal is forgiveness - as there are areas of unforgiveness I have yet to uncover.
I will be recording this in my journal, the good, the bad and the ugly  yeah, I know it is some stuff in me that needs to go. I am seizing the moment to grow.

I'm in with you Sis! Don't know for how long, but I know I want to do at LEAST 7 days, nothing short of it as I've never made it past 4 days (maybe 5, but I think it was 4). The Jubb way of doing it, with the blended soups, will greatly help me as I am doing the extended-nursing thing and don't want to detox TOO quickly, heavily.
Eating up the last of my dehydrator treats and other raw dishes! :p

I may join in too- I was thinking of a lemon water fast for myself. I figure if the water thing gets to major, I could switch to juice and go for a little longer... It is helpful to have a group to fast with that's for sure!

PS I wanted to add this link because I thought it had some good tips on fasting:

After reading it, I may alternate juice fasting and water fasting-

My wife and myself are doing a 30 day juice fast beginning Thursday, Feb 10th.
We will be doing salt flushes for the first 10 days.
My kids want to join us but I am not sure how long they will be able to hang. So we are playing that by ear.
Peace.

I start the "raw" thing tomorrow (well today now since its after midnight) and plan to do juice fast in the middle of the 30 days - but if my juicer comes in early enough I'll start the juice fast right away with you all.... Have to ask -- What is a Salt Flush?
tglasco4

.... Have to ask -- What is a Salt Flush?
Salt flush is simply drinking 32oz of room-temperature water with 2 teaspoons of sea salt. It should be done very early in the morning and on an empty stomach. It is most effective in conjunction with either a water fast or a juice fast (or diet depending on how you look at it). It helps clean out the digestive tract and prepare the body to recieve healthy food (raw) more efficiently.
Hope this is helpful to you.
Peace and Blessings to you on your raw journey.
Todd
I'll pray for your strength sweetlips, I can't join you in case I'm pregnant, but I will in spirit. I'm touched by your short story and wish you every success.

I won't be joining you at this time either SweetLips because I don't think my body is quite ready for it. However, you know that my prayers are with you. I pray that God gives you the enlightenment and forgiveness you desire. (and all the other blessings that will come!) Smasty writes quite a bit on the juice fast for spiritual reasons, if you haven't already read her story....
God bless

Sweet Lips and to all,
We would like to share this poem with youl. We are brothers and sisters who will experience love and sadness for each other in this world, but the best is yet to come when we are together in Eternity...
God Bless you and Love you.
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times on his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you".

Wow, thank you so much for the poem - My sister friend Val tells me that all the time and especially this last 30 days, but seeing it written is so nice, so printed and in my journal ( the one that I write) it is now.
Glad for all of you who are joining me, from each part of the world, we will be covered with prayer, and positive spirits from those of you who are thinking of us doing this journey.
Todd, do you think you family will embrace more raw after this 30 days? As for your children, Jubb suggest juice of course, blended soups, and smoothies - so you may wish to incorporate that for them.
SamL - don't forget to share your news with us - We'll pray for you as well \o/ during this time.
CoffeeSquirrel - you are doing good, I sent love your way while on the MC.
Walkin' - let your soul get you ready, and when you are, you will. Thanks in advance for the prayers It is is faith walk for me.
I got a praise y'all and it is a good one. :D

Are ALL of these necessary? Or just a choice? Please explain the benefits of each, please.
The last time I tried to do a fast, I almost went blind.
I could do them in my twenties and thirties, but granny apparently cannot take the pressure in her forties now.

 New York Raw, that made me smile. Stay on this forum and you will constantly be surprised at what people do.
Now - That is exactly my plan. from my previous post: " It is a spiritual journey for me, to help heal, body, mind and soul. It is an opportunity for me to become re-acquainted with me, and open up new areas that I never investigated or ones I have suppressed."
Todd shared a website with me a while ago that I have added to my library that will explain several aspects of fasting www.juicefasting.org as this website does and also http://www.fasting.com/ read the testimonies on this site under fasting journal.
Also, Anemicgal, sounds like you had a negative experience :( , I don't know the circumstances under which you fasted, or how, but as for me, I been doing this and studying this for a while. While this thread is about asking folks to join, and if not, provide support, here is a wbsite ( there are thousands) that provides some information to you:
http://www.hps-online.com/nsectionfast.htm.
About rejuvlac http://www.growyouthful.com/toc11rejuvelac.php that is really your choice to do, as if fasting. No, colonics are not necessary, again, they are all a matter of choice and teaching. For further information, I suggest that you search the board for more reports on fasting, colonics and the like. I used them all! I did not discuss my process because my request was not about that.
Oh, I am well into my 40's and almost 50, so, it's not a problem with my age to do so. I actually love being this age, there is so much freedom in my life and wisdom that has come from my journey in life. What is there to live for if we do not age healthy, where would our growth be?

Hi Sweet Lips ~
I just wanted to let you know that I will be joining you for the lenten fast. I will be taking fresh juices daily along with wheatgrass and udo's oil. I am not especially religous so I don't even get what the entire ash wednesday lenten thing is but I plan on finding out during the next 42 days. I figure that if people can give up chocolate, ciggs, booze, etc. for the extended period than I can do this. I will be sure to journal about it in my journal area. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

p.s. I have never made it longer than a week on any other fasting attemps taht I have made BUT I am really going to succeed this time!

Rawjojo,
Welcome aboard and thank you so much :) - we will support one another. I too haven't done a long fast, but feel particualry led to do so, and know that I will be successful. Remain peaceful, calm and flow. I did provide a couple of references that give support as well. I am here for you as you are for me.
Going to read your journal now, and write in mine.

Well, so far so good with me. I feel good, but I do feel a little "detoxy"...kinda the feeling you get when your body first starts breaking down right before cold symptoms come on...that's what I'm feeling.
I plan to REALLY rest and take it easy as much as possible the first 3 days or so. I'll be documenting in my journal!

Rawjojo to all who are interested.
Here's just a tidbit of Ash Wednesday and Lent.
Ash Wednesday
On this day all the faithful according to ancient custom are exhorted to approach the altar before the beginning of Mass, and there the priest, dipping his thumb into ashes previously blessed, marks the forehead of each the sign of the cross, saying the words: "Remember man that thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return." The ashes used in this ceremony are made by burning the remains of the palms blessed on the Palm Sunday of the previous year.
Lent
Denote the forty days' fast preceding Easter.
Prepare for Lent by a good confession; Pope Benedict XIV by the Constitution "Inter Cetera" (1 Jan., 1748) introduced a kind of 'Forty Hours' Devotion to keep the faithful from dangerous amusements and to make some reparation for sins committed.
The ordinary rule on fasting days was to take but one meal a day and that only in the evening, while meat and, in the early centuries, wine were entirely forbidden. During Holy Week, or at least on Good Friday it was common to enjoin a diet of dry food, bread, salt, and vegetables.

Hey Juan,
Thanks for the info. I don't want to get too off of the subject of fasting BUT I do have one quick question. Is this only a catholic practice? I was raised a methodist but as I grew older I have found my own spiritual path, however, I do recall celebrating lent and palm sunday and so forth in our small methodist church. I am not positive but I think it may be an all around christian thing but it does seem as though catholics really practice it. Do you know this to be true? Just wondering?
Thanks again for the info and the support! I'm off to journal!

Hi Sweet Lips and all....
I have decided that I am going to join in the juice fast beginning Friday. I will be doing fruit and veggie juices and also blended drinks and soups...if needed. I will also take Flax oil, liquid minerals maybe and some other almost non-nutritive beverages...basically no solid food. :D
I know my period is approaching and I am hoping to ward off a migraine...and to assist in my detoxing so I can get over my pre-menstrual cravings and mood shifts.
I also feel the need to focus my energies...and make a strong re-commitment to 100% Raw.
So...Be well all of you..and I look forward to doing this in your company..encouraging and supporting one another. :)

Hi Sweetlips and others,
I, too, will be joining you with fasting for this lenten season. I will start out with a pure water fast for the first few days and then do the master cleanse for three weeks. Afterwards, I plan to eat 100% raw for the rest of the season.
My reasons are both religious and vanity. I recently woke up with rash-like bumps all over my neck and face. I try to cover it with make-up, but I know it is my body's way of telling me that something is not right.
I will keep you in my prayers as we all strive towards our goals in this journey.

Wow - Welcome, Punky :) Elizabeth :) and Platinum DST :), this is so wonderful. Yes, we are all here for one another and that is a blessing!
Rawjojo - I am Methodist, and yes, it practiced, although 24-7 fast are not generally incorporated; most folks do modified fast - sun up to sun down, one meal a day, 2 meals and nothing - etc; For me, I have always given up some character defect during the lenten season because I want to improve the me that I am to be better in this world - I know it sounds corny, but I mean it.
Platinum, WELCOME BACK GIRL!!!! on this thread under the cucmber stuff, Feeling Good wrote how well two galsses of cucmber juice improved her skin - you may consider that!
Rawkinlocs, I am with you here. Some detoxing - fatigued, and headache that wanted to hover, but backed up with the threat - like, cross this line. I am still pumped especially after doing some reading of journals today - there is so much healing to be done!
Carmel, I am documenting the good, the bad, and the ugly in my journal during this fast as well, I hope you can glean from it.
Juan, keep us lifted up - I know you are doing that ;) and it is appreciated.
Again, Thank all of you for being here for me - yes, while you may be doing this for other reasons, it is a blessing for me to have this type of support and encouragement -

Feelin' Good,
Great website your provided - I saved it. I will be thinking of you as you go forth, abd best wishes with the water. Maybe next time for me - I am pretty dirty and the detox might be too rough.
Sweet lips...
I have never thought too seriously about a juice fast but after reading your post and praying, I feel led to do this.
I will go from tomorrow until the 20th evening meal (our anniversary) then eat a salad. Then from the 21st until the 28th evening meal (Terry's birthday)... having a salad for that meal. Then pick it back up the next day and go for 10 more days (Mar 1-10). Actually, I'd like to go the whole month of March and I may... I'll just see how it goes.
I want to do this for you... praying for your complete healing. And spiritually for me, I need a deeper walk with God. Plus, I want the hold that food has had on me all my life, broken once and for all. I need your prayers too! ..."to help heal, body, mind and soul."
Ok... You are doing juices and blended drinks, right?
And what is your last day (date)?

Thank You so much for your loving kindness, and Deb, to have you intercede on my behalf is such a blessing. Words can not express how both of you have touched me.
Yes, Deb, juice and blended drinks, and I plan to go until March 9, and then if able until Easter. I don't think why I should make it the entire time. I like that you have planned for the special days that may come up, and how you have handled.
We are here for one another, but you two have moved the mountain - Thank you so much

Hi Sweet Lips....
I do not pray in a traditional sense..but my thoughts are with you..and I am in full support of your in your fasting toward physical health and a deepening of your spiritual life.
Much like Deb, I have some social eating commitments that I still want to keep, so I will be fasting except for those occasions. I, too, am fasting to once and for all break the hold that food addiction has on me. I know that I am not functioning optimally in any way due to diet and lifestyle "infractions"..and I am determined to overcome this.
To all of you, thanks for being here..and for being such wonderful inspirations through your examples.

Hello everyone!
Sorry for my late entry... it is raining here, and my internet connection keeps fading in and out- I'm not sure why, but it only happens when it rains, so I assume it has something to do with it...
Glad to see that everyone is hanging strong! Today, I started out with 4 glasses of lemon water- but boy, at around 2pm my stomach felt like it was going to eat my intestines...YIKES, so I plugged the juicer in and zipped up a pink grapefruit, orange, and an apple- it wasn't too bad. I drank lemon water again until about 5 then I had cabbage, celery and apple juice... very good BTW :D Then just lemon water for the rest of the evening...
HOW I FEEL: Other than my stomach giving me attitude- I felt great. I was a little more tired this evening than I would normally be- but not a whole lot. The hardest part of this was making my kids food today... I found a trick that helped: I put vicks vapor rub under my nose- a lot of it! I couldn't smell the food that way- and it curved my hunger pangs a bit too... but now, I can't get it off of my face... it sorta took over. The more I wash, the more it spreads... I'm not sure if my DH will want to snuggle tonight  I'm off to bed now to pray that tomorrow could be like today... but with less menthol :D
Thanks Sweet Lips for being so warm in your messages and so inviting to this fast- You really have raised the bar for me and I'm sure a few others who were touched and moved by your story -all my best, and of course my prayers are headed your way!
Night guys- and I am so happy to be here with all of you! Sweet dreams-
Your fasting friend-

Here is the link to an article by Victoria Boutenko with recipes and more information on the green smoothies. This link was provided to US by Elizabeth - thanks again Elizabeth AND thank you SweetGoddess for having mentioned the green smoothie talk that Victoria gave to "put the bug in our ear" about it! :D
http://archives.zinester.com/1819/37165.html
And just in case anything happens to the article at a later date, I will copy and past the information from the article below:
Ode to Green Smoothie
by Victoria Boutenko, author of "12 Steps to Raw Foods" - http://rawfamily.com
==============
As the Russian proverb says: New- is something old, that has been long
forgotten. This summer I re-discovered green smoothies. What do I mean by
green smoothie? Here is one of my favorite recipes: 4 ripe pears, 1 bunch of
parsley and 1 big cup of water. Blended well. This smoothie looks very
green, but it tastes like fruit. I like green smoothies so much that I
bought an extra blender and placed it in my office, so that I could make
green smoothies throughout the day. More than half of all the food I've had
in last several months have been green smoothies. I have so much more energy
and clarity that I have removed green juices from my diet. (Juicing has been
something that I've been doing regularly for years.) Green smoothies have
numerous benefits for human health.
1. Green smoothies are very nutritious. I believe that the ratio in them is
optimal for human consumption: about 60% - ripe organic fruit mixed with
about 40% - organic green vegetables.
2. Green smoothies are easy to digest. When blended well, all the valuable
nutrients in these fruits and veggies become homogenized, or divided into
such small particles that it becomes easy for the body to assimilate these
nutrients, the green smoothies literally start to get absorbed in your
mouth.
3. Green smoothies, as a posed to juices, are a complete food because they
still have fiber.
4. Green smoothies belong to the most palatable dishes for all humans of all
ages. With a ratio of fruits to veggies as 60:40 the fruit taste dominates
the flavor, yet at the same time the green vegetables balance out the
sweetness of the fruit, adding nice zest to it. Green smoothies are simply
the best tasting dishes for the majority of adults and children. I always
make extra smoothie and offer it to my friends and customers. Some of them
eat a standard American diet. They all finished their big cup of green
smoothies with complements. They were quite surprised that something so
green could taste so nice and sweet.
5. By consuming two or three cups of green smoothies daily you will consume
enough of greens for the day to nourish your body, and they will be well
assimilated. Many people do not consume enough of greens, even those who
stay on a raw food diet. The molecule of chlorophyll has only one atom that
makes it different from a molecule of human blood. According to teachings of
Dr. Ann Wigmore, to consume chlorophyll is like receiving a healthy blood
transfusion.
6. Green smoothies are easy to make, and quick to clean up after. Many
people told me that they do not consume green juices on a regular basis
because it is time consuming to prepare green juices and clean the equipment
after juicing, or to drive to the juice bar.
7. Green smoothies are perfect food for children of all ages, including
babies of six or more months old when introducing new food to them after
mother's milk. Of course you have to be careful and slowly increase the
amount of smoothies to avoid food allergies.
8. When you consume your greens in the form of green smoothies, you can
greatly reduce the consumption of oils and salt in your diet.
9. Regular consumption of Green smoothies forms a good habit of eating
greens. Several people told me that after a couple of weeks of drinking
green smoothies, they started to crave and enjoy eating more greens. Eating
enough of green vegetable is often a problem with many people, especially in
children.
10. Green smoothies can easily be freshly made at any juice bar, restaurant
or health food store for the great convenience of health-oriented customers.
Please bring a copy of this article to your local juice bar.
I encourage the readers of this article to start playing with green
smoothies, and to discover the many joys and benefits of this wonderful
delicious and nutritious addition to the menu.
Here are more ideas for your green creations.
Some of my favorite greens to add to green smoothies: parsley, spinach,
celery, kale and romaine. My favorite fruits for green smoothies are: pears,
peaches, nectarines, bananas, mangoes and apples. Strawberries and
raspberries taste superb in green smoothies, when combined with ripe
bananas.
Delicious combinations.

Cool! :)
Hey, not sure what kind of blender you have, but when doing the greens in your smoothies, just make sure you blend it well...for a while so it's all blended up well and not leaving any little bits and pieces of greens in it.
I have a L'Equip and while not as powerful as the "granddaddy" of blenders, it's pretty powerful. But my stand-by blender is a Hamilton-Beach and with that one, I'd probably have to take spoon or something to kinda scrape things around and continue blending, that sorta thing.

I am so blessed by all of us who are fasting or liqua-fast, (as Rawkilnocs calls it)since we are using what we need to drink - water, juicie, smoothies, blended drinks, blended soups etc, fasting from solid food, those intending to fast, and those who are sending love this way. What a blessing! amd so indicitive of this board - the support and the positive people who encourage us to grow together.
Feelin'Good, I am sorry to hear about your expereince with the lemon water :( - it is a very strong detoxer, and a fast one, especially without anything else added. I'm glad you slowed it down a bit with the juice that you had. Keep us abreast of how you are doing.
Welcome :D Carmel, I am happy you are joining us, please let me know how you are feeling and post any questions as you take this road.
I had a pear and spinach blended drink this morning - it was bright green and wonderfully sweet and very delightful because my husband made it for me. I am not as tired today, so I can tell a bit of difference.
Blessings to all

Lol. Of course I will join you. I just hadn't read about your fast before because when I saw "JUICE FAST" I ran the other way  I should have read it . I can for sure do the Green smoothies and the blended soups. I am all the way with you ;)
PS.
Now who in this world could ever be mad at you for anything? I sure can't. You are the greatest!!

I will have to do that most likely, it's an inexpensive blender from walmart. I will ask for a vitamix for my birthday-maybe I can find one on Ebay!
I am just happy to know I can make do with what I have-thanks again.

I only have a cheap blender from Wal-Mart and it works good for smoothies.
After seeing the thread that Sweet Lips has I think that we should just go over to hers. I will try to get this thread off. I feel we should blend (no pun intended lol) in with her.

Hello fellow fasters. Day one for me today! I am excited to see what discoveries and experiences this brings. I had a very confirming dream last night. I had been feeling very unbalanced the last couple of days and was wondering what to do about it when Flutterflye asked who wants to do a green smoothie fast. That grabbed me and felt right and I decided that would be just the thing to do to regain balance. Then last night the mind starts..maybe its too soon....can I do this..etc
So last night I dreamt a 4 leaf clover was being held out to me , and this clover was used to measure balance..it would tilt one way for balanced...the other for unbalanced. I was very unbalanced according to the 4 leaf clover! Interesting.
So how is everyone doing on their fasts? I have a question-could someone give me an example of a blended soup they drink on their fast? I am not creative in the soup department, as I have always despised cooked soup-so it would be wonderful to see a couple ideas/examples!
Thank you and many, many blessings to everyone on their fasts!
Warmly~

SweetGoddess,
I am sorry :o , I just got back on after this morning. I have to confess, I was under the weather at my own doing - Group, I ate 2 brazil nuts and 2 dates, they were part of the brazil nut and date shake. Anyway, I paid dearly for this transgression - I had terrible pain in my stomach and intestines and got very nauseaus - so onward to the liquids - what was I thinking about and I deserved this. I got my answer later when I friend came by to nourish me with love, and I know what part of my journey will be on this fast.
My blended soup this week was was - tomato, 1/2 red bell pepper, stalk of celery, 1/4 of red onion, avocado, a cup of water, squeeze of lemon - it was wonderful.
Here are some soups ( if you choose, you can juice these as well) you may wish to try that are very good to me, PM me if you want some others as this is only a small sample and I don't know your taste.
Gardern Ginger Energy Soup
1 to 11/2 Cucumber, skin, seed and chopped
1 bunch of Spinach
1 cup Zucchini ( I didn't use)
1 C water
1/2 avocado
1 tbl ginger minced
1/2tbl of lemon juice
2 tsp nama shoya or braggs
dash of cayenne
Puree until Smooth and chill until ready to serve - this makes 4 serving
This one is pretty, pink and ;) rooting tootin good. I used 1/2 of everything except the avo - I needed to use what I had left.
2 med beets trimmed
2 med carrots
1/2 cucumber
1/2 avocado
1/2 c Cilantro leaves, loosley packed
3 cups water
2tbl natural (mild ) rice vinegar - I found some raw here in my town
1 Tbl nama shoyu or 1 tsp celtic salt
1 serrano chile, stemmed, seeded - I used a jalepeno
1 tsp onopn powder
1/2 tsp cumin ( I used 1/4 tsp - not my favorite)
1 c Corn cut off cob
1. Finely grate the frist 2 ingrediants in a food processor. Transfer into a large bowl and toss.
2. Return 3 cups of veggies back into processor (or blender - I used that after the f.p.) Add corn and puree unto smooth
3. chill unti ready to serve, I souped it after completing.
Chilled Papaya Mint Bisque
1/4 c Fresh mint leaves, torn
2 chilled papayas, seeded
2/3 c water
2 limes, juices
2 tbl frozen pineapple juice ( I juiced the pineapple and put into ice trays for uses in my other drinks and 2 squares were enough. I believe you can just use the fresh juice)
squeeze of agave nectar
Put all in blender and mix. Andrew liked this - he considered it a drink
Creamy Red Pepper Soup
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 ripe avo,
2 cups water
leaves from 1 sprig of oregano
1 tbs fresh cilantro
1 tbs fresh parlsy
celtic salt
Blend until smooth - yummy yummy yummy!
Believe it or Not this is Sweet and Good - Borscht
2 to 3 cups of chopped red cabbage ( I used regular- there wasn't any red here)
1 beet shredded
2 tbs red miso, ( I used what we had)
1 clove garlic
1 cup water
Blend until smooth
Don't forget Gazpacho - I will send to you tomorrow- it is very good

Well, I have to confess as well, my fast hasn't been going so well. I have been struggling with it. I really WANT to do this, but perhaps I am going about it all wrong...I need to pray and meditate on this to be sure I have the right mindset.
But I look forward to beginning again (as Sweetlips wrote in her daily inspirational - BEAUTIFUL, btw!) very soon! I think that for the next week, I would like to focus on being RAW and from there see where I end up.

Hi Carmel...
I don't know what the soup recipes are- sorry :( I'm trying to stick this out with just the juice and water- but whew.... I'm thinking today may be it for me. For all of you still going strong- please don't be discouraged by my drop out on the fast- I have 3 small kids and they are a handful- by day 3, I am so tired from fasting that I can't cope... I just feel I can't do what I need to for them right now. I think I will resume my fast this summer when the kids go to their grandparents for 2 weeks. That would be the perfect time for me to do it. I will still be checking in with everyone... You will all be in my prayers! I did stick it out today- but I am calling it quits in the AM. I wrote in my journal what I had over the weekend. But hey, I made it a little longer than last time :D
Carmel- good luck on your first liqua-fast!
Best wishes...

Hey Feelin'Good and Rawkinlocs
You don't fail, you didn't give up, you tried and that is all the counts. Autumbreeze uses this statement as her signature:
Start each day fresh, bright, and with promise, and never define yourself in terms of past failures.
That's how I feel - after my episode yesterday, I continued on, and I thank for you trying it, and I thank you for your prayers. It helps my resolve and through the guidance I have received, I going to continue on ;)
Carmel, they are a host of receipes in Alissa's book that you may wish to explore.

Hi everyone!
Hang in there.....if you feel like you need something more filling or savory just make a blended soup. The other day I had one with carrot and red pepper juice then tomato and more red pepper blended with cumin, sea salt and (a few olives  ) but I did blend them to "life." :p
I had my valentine meal that i had planned for yesterday. Then I came home and drank Laci le Beau tea :D I was up on and off all night. :( Well..at least I don't feel all bloaty and stuffed.
I am staying on the liquid fast until Sun. when I am going to a Raw restaurant with a friend. We had planned it some time ago and kept missing it..so I do not want to cancel again.
Aftyer that..i am going to see how it goes. I may stay on until Easter...alond with Sweet Lips....and whoever else is :)
I did unconsciously eat a few bits of Thai coconut meat when I was preparing my smoothie this morning..but I don't think that is a big deal. I do a lot better when I am more relaxed. ;) My migraine(if you even want to call it that)..was mild compared to others and only lasted about two days or a bit more. My period started..and I feel like I have been given a reprieve..another month to get toxins out, to normalize hormonal levels so I do not have to deal with this migraine stuff every couple of weeks or so.
Blessings to you all... I am still on the fast..and will try to check in..I have so much to do, and sometimes I do better at Raw if I just stop the reflection and introspection for a while and Just Do It... :D
Happy Raw Liquid Fasting to you all......

Thank you ladies. Sweetlips, I am happy to have those recipes! Thanks so much.
FeelinGood~you did great...and I cant believe you would even try with little kids to look after..they take a lot of energy.
Rawkinlocs~ I found the very first day a struggle
Flutterfly~ I am with you! Yesterday I made carrot/raisin.parsley juice in the blender and the first gulp made me gag..I poured it down the drain. YUK
strawberry/banana/lettuce was good. I am thinking blended soups also, that juice was so gross it frightened me haha
Elizabeth-i was thinking blended soups might be the ticket.the ones you made sound easy which is what I am after ! Thank you and enjoy the restaurant.

Wow...no time to catch up on posts yet. I'm on day 7 of juice fasting. Wow...this fast is different from my previous fast. Harder in some ways...much more emotional. Where is the euphoria? It hasn't shown up yet. that's ok. this is a spiritual fast for me as well---I needed help from God to slay the addiction monster that reared it's ugly head again...as well as work on some other things. I can't wait to read and catch up on how everyone else is doing, and what y'all are doing. Anyone else's teeth ache when you fast? Mine do.

When I logged off on Thursday there weren't too many people joining the fast BUT now there are all kinds of great folks who have joined in. I have been journaling about my fast. I am actually somewhat enjoying it this time. Hi fellow liquid fasters :)
Today was good for me..although I did eat a banana ( I almost forgot) I was out and I felt weak..and had not raw juice or any way to get it. I like this though..I am finding that doing a juice and blended fast is a sure way to stay Raw. :D
I will try to plan better..but I am not sure what I will do tomorrow..maybe take a half gallon of juice and leave it in the car. It should be cool enough. I can come out during my breaks between classes if I want some. I am gone for about 15 hours...
Well..I need to sleep a bit. Take care everyone and Sweet Lips..thank you so much for the encouraging and heartfelt messages. I have been so busy with school stuff..I am hoping to have more time to post this weekend.
Blessings :)

Day 6 here and all of us are doing well. I feel like we are just warming up really. I did have a strong desire for a steak sandwich yesterday (for real!), but I knew it was from the fast. Now I have not eaten a steak sandwich in well over 20 yrs. But we are cruising right along. I have a dinner appt with a client at Ruby Tuesday's today, I am bringing my gallon size thermos filled with veggie juice. When we get to day 15 or so, I will feel like we are doing something.
Peace.

Wow guys... you are doing so wonderful! I should have switched to blended soups and smoothies like Sweetgoddess and a few others... my energy level may not be as low if I do that, and my focus. I will try to gather up some recipes for the soups and see if that would work for better for me...
Elizabeth- you are so funny! You are right- fasting makes you stay raw! Even if you cheat a little, you can grab that banana and not feel so guilty about the whole thing because your main objective is to stay raw- good outlook :D It takes some of the pressure off.
Todd- day 6! And you feel like that is a warm-up???? Boy, I have a long, long, way to go....:D That is terrific! Thanks for visiting me journal... I think you were right, I wasn't getting in enough juice.... I was really weak and I have a hard time focusing on my kids when I feel that way... I am thinking of starting up again on Wednesday and do the soups and smoothies... that I think I could handle better :D I will keep you posted...

I needed to pop in here a minute. I am in the midst of completing some seminary papers, and frankly I am glad for the fast, as I don't have to focus on food - now, I need to focus on the papers send me some energy guys - thanks!
I am still there, and yes, Elizabeth, I agree, staying raw is the best thing to do and if you are not in a position to get what you need, do what you need to do.
Thank you both Heather and Pailani for your support.
Great News for both Smasty and Todd, glad to hear you are making it on this journey - just remember Grace ( Thanks Todd), it has helped me through!
My breakfast drink made my Floyd was coconut water and flesh, mango, orange and banana - now it is time for water as that was pretty concentrated. Lunch will cucumber and tomato blended, and dinner will be whatever Floyd decides to juice and that is fine with me.
I have to look at the benefits, I am receiving and they are coming as I expected. I will be placing my experience in my journal as not to take too much space here.
Sweet Goddess, how are you doing?

I tried to just go with the flow and have whatever juices that I crave BUT it wasn't sorking for me. I get to overwhelmed and discouraged. I am better at planning than flying by the seat of my pants! Hi everybody,
Yesterday I backslid.. First of all..I am on my period...(what a lame excuse :o )and I had been doing really well. Then yesterday I went to Whole foods..and I was walking around..and you know how they have all those samples out..and the little sample cups by the food bar...BE AFRAID..BE VERY AFRAID!!!! I ate olives, sampled some kung pao tofu and ate 2 cubes of cheese. ..I sampled some cooked greens too...was that it ? Then later, with my awakened monster of an appetite, I ate cheetos, fritos and rootbeer and salad with caesar dressing.
No meat though....no drive-thru....that is actually a coup for me. Usually if I blow it I will just finish the job by getting every thing I have been "hungry" for in the past month. LOL
I am back on this morning. I briefly thought about getting breakfast somewhere...but now I can't..since I am posting here today. HeeeHeee that will show me :D
I am sorry to talk about food on the fasting thread... I need to get a beverage thermos..I have a food one. and also maybe start taking a cooler with me with stuff in it when I will be gone for a while. You are all doing great..and I am not giving up. I have cramps..and although I know food will not make it better, it is so tempting because there is no one here to give me a tummy rub right now. ;) I need to get on the stick with setting up some massages......
I wish I lived by some of you....I need some Raw friends. :)

:D trying again is what really matters in life and it's awesome you gonna try again. something that might help you is i was reading yesterday and one fasting site i was on ... sorry i can't remember which one right now said that while fasting people who detox are actually very much like someone addicted to alcohol. there cravings will be even worse then ever because they are uncovering those toxins related to those foods and such... made sense to me as i find that even on day 14 of my fast i still fight those cravings. and while i'm a lot stronger then i used to be a lot of times i simply have to go to bed early to get rid of them.. (once i'm in bed i think of how i want to be once i'm healthy and this taked my mind off food till i drift off.) Hopefully this helps.
Here's to all of us who have the strength to try again.

Thanks for the support..and for not exiling or excommunicating me :p
I have had two smoothies so far....one with o.j. and banana and the one I am drinking now with blueberries and banana and maple syrup Yumm!!! :D
As I was thinking of preparing the second one, I thought that maybe I had had enough already...and that I should just wait. I think that is partly why I get cravings I try to be too disciplined..rather than just drinking the  -ing smoothie.
I am in a really good mood today...I was just spinning around and dancing to Tracy Chapman :p I had a mini-epiphany....just a deep down core sense that fundamentally things are as they should be...that if we align ourselves with LIFE then we will be o.k....actually Magnificent...what we are meant to be.
Blessings... :)

Elizabeth - just begin again - I sent you a PM about that. Coffeesquirrel, you are so right, I woke up one morning smelling fried chicken at 5:00 a.m. - not correct at all, and I know you read Todd post about steak - where do these things come from. I am doing well, and that is only by grace - I did eat a banana yesterday, like an addict searching to get drugs and afraid someone will ask me to share. I ate it, instead of putting it in my smoothie. So BEGIN AGAIN, and perfect is not the key, just be true to what your body is telling you.
SweetGoddess perhaps another time, as you said, this was the fiirst time for you and that is understandable (((((o))))), but you tried it and that is commendable - you gave it a try and that is what matters.
To everyone else - if you are doing blended soups -this is a recipe for a cooked soup from the Kitchen Witch -I modified it for raw and it is really good
2 tablespoons olive oil (no oil for raw)
3 leeks, white parts only, well-washed and cut into 1/2-inch rounds
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 medium carrot, diced
2 teaspoons paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne (or more, to taste)
6 cups vegetable broth or water (bonners veggie broth, and only 2 cups -raw)
sea salt
Handful of mustard greens, watercress, or parsley, coarsely chopped
croutons for garnish
sour cream for garnish (Alissa has a recipe for this -excellent)
sprouts for garnish
Very Very Good!

Sweetlips..thank you for your encouragement...but I feel as though I should withdraw from the fast..... I am planning on dinner at a Raw Restaurant on Sun. and I think it is difficult for me to really get into the fast when I have an exception so soon..also..on Valentines day was an exception.
I may start back on Mon. I think I will have my stuff together so I can take juice with me for school...and I can do it uninterrupted for as long as I want..no dining plans that I know of.
I am glad that I did fast as much as I did though..it helped me with my migraine and the beginning of my period. Also..it helped me refocus on Raw eating....
So-o-o- the Best to you all who are continuing on. I may join you again later...but if I do I will make sure I am more prepared for "taking it on the road" so to speak. ;)

I too have ended my fast, the same goals that I initiated with the fast are there for my life and the first goal is the primary goal, and if I meet that one, everything else will fall into place: Rededicating my life to the one who created me, and has sustain me through all of the things in my life. It still is a spiritual journey for me, to help heal, body, mind and soul. Through the journey of raw, is how I need to accomplish these things.
Thanks and blessing to all of you who have been here for me.
God Bless You :)

I am you guys have had the Juice Fast experience to varying degrees. We are on day 12 here and now my 13 yr old son has decided to join for 5 to 10 days. My 12 yr old daughter is really doing well, not only doing the fast but also cooking for her siblings. So please keep us in your prayers as we press on for 18 more days.
Peace.

I would love to join you in your fast but it will have to wait.. financially we are at a struggle untill next paycheck.. so am having to eat what we have.. still trying to eat raw as much as possible.. once I start work again we will have more cash to buy what I want.. for me... hubby is not totally for the raw thing but he will drink my juices and he does love salads... so it is a start..Good luck to everyone...
i did do a four day fast on the "lemonade" and felt wonderful... cleaned me out great so want to keep the good foods going in... i am worried about the sweetnes of the lemonade tho.. that and trying to lose weight do not mix in my head.. but sure didn't want anything and found the more I was liquid the harder it was for me to eat anything solid... let alone meat... oh my gosh... ;)
