In order to be an acceptable weight, I probably need to gain at least 15 pounds. I've gone on a raw food diet and really want to stay with it! Is there ANY way to do this?
I need your suggestions please, I'm hopeless and you all seem so wonderful:) Bad health and heavy medications over the years has caused me to have no hunger signals. I don't even have a clue what it is! However, I'm always thirsty right now probably from lack of nutruition.
Should I go by a suggested eating routine, or just randomly eat? Downside is, I'm not sure WHAT to eat! Fruit, nuts, sprouted grains, dehydrated, or meals from uncookbooks? I really need to food combine because I have bad digestion.
Am I hopeless? Sorry for the rant, if you could be so kind as to respond.

You might want to check out Alissa Cohen's book (this is her website). It has so much information on this way of eating, case studies, menu suggestions, recipes, how to stock your kitchen, the works. Also, she has a DVD which shows you just how easy it is to make raw food dishes. Those two items alone would probably answer most of your questions. Her approach is basically "in the beginning, don't worry about food combining, just keep it raw." She does offer food combining tips though for those are interested. Meanwhile, if you click on the banana at the top of the screen you can do searches on "food combining" and "underweight" and whatever else you have questions about. Those topics have been discussed on this site numerous times.

As far as being underweight, I've read of formerly underweight people gaining on this diet, until they eventually get to their natural weight. Again, this is all covered in Alissa's book.

Hope this helps.

You might want to try looking onto fasting which has helped people regulate their weight, even when underweight. Sometimes the body needs to re-adjust and fasting is a sure-fire way to assist with that.

The Miracle of Fasting by Paul Bragg is excellent.

There are people here that have the same thing not looking at weight loss but weight gain. I am sure they have written many things that will give you some information on how they are coping and working with that. I am needing to loose 100+ lbs so we all have our battles.

Stay and read and learn and if nothing else have some good people to talk to and let us know how you are doing and what you are learning and thinking :)

Hang in there!

I am sure that Misslinda has some excellent things that she has posted that you can read!

I read that coconut butter can help a lot, use extra almond butter too. Anything fatty should help, avocados bananas etc.

Alissa's hemp protein powder will help you a lot.

You can find it on www.alissacohen.com (http://www.alissacohen.com) and can throw it in a power smoothie every morning. Give that a go and get Alissa's book and you will be much more informed and set to go!

Best wishes~

I really understand. I was severly underweight for a few years and really unhealthy. Raw made me lose even more weight - down to really really scary levels. It's really hard being underweight since people just don't understand.

Please hang in there Matto. Feel free to chat with me on MSN (lisamadam@hotmail.com) or just e-mail me. I discovered a bunch of tricks that helped my weight to improve dramatically.
