When at home, I usually eat a mono fruit lunch and then eat a little more fruit before a salad for dinner. I follow 811. I haven't eaten overt fat (no avocadoes or nuts) since January when I went raw.

Well, I was in Hawaii for the past two weeks. While I was there, I really didn't follow food combining rules. I kind of ate whatever I felt like whenever I felt like it. I just ate whatever raw fruits and veggies I could find (either in grocery stores, fruit stands or at the resort). I exercised less. I even found a vegan restaurant with raw meals too. I ate meals there that had a lot of overt fat in them (nuts). Guess what? I felt good and I actually lost weight. I wonder if I can ease up on the restrictiveness of my diet. What do you think? Thanks!

hey daisy, yea i wonder too because i think that fats really do help a little, ive been eating them moderately, than sweet fruits andeverything moderately i continue to lose a pound almost daily! than again some could be muscle, i think its about moderation i like my fat to be 15-20% no higher and the rest fruits and greens usually smoothies as they fill me up good, but hey your the expert as you've been at this longer, i have David wolfes book the sunfood success system and he has meal plans for raw it seems theres quite a bit of fat, but its moderation once again, just my 2 cents...

Well, it might just mean that your detox slowed down and you can feel even better for a while. That happened too me, when I got scared of strong detox at six months raw(I think I was detoxing mercury) and ate a little cooked - it made me feel better almost instantly. The only thing that did not feel good was hot soup(burned my stomach!), but a little bread made me feel quite good. When I returned to all raw, I got detox again, after a while I got again it strong and this time I stuck it out and it went away.
So it feeling better for short time doesn't mean much. That's why I believe you need to give time of several months to either aproach and see how your saliva ph and other health signs change.
I know I am clean once my moles and skin tag is gone.

I have to eat fat. If I don't, I either don't lose weight or I gain weight. Also suffer from dry skin and hair.

I think it really all boils down to what Alissa stated in that Raw Vegan Radio interview she did...

(paraphrasing) ***People tend to get stuck into one way of doing raw and think it has to be that way for the rest of their lives instead of just listening to their bodies. Some people will eat a high fruit, low fat diet and think they can and should NEVER, EVER eat a high amount of nuts even if their body is signalling otherwise. There may be times in your life when your body wants/needs only fruit but then later it might need the fat of nuts or avocados...so basically be flexible enough to change and shift a little and realize it's only for a time.***

There was a time when I used to gorge myself on nut-heavy stuff and it might last for about a week or maybe longer...but then after a while my body signalled to me to let up on them because I just started losing my desire for them and wanted more fruit. So, I'll eat mostly fruit and then one day after a while I might start craving nuts again.

So, just go with whatever your body indicates. You will know if you've had too many nuts, etc. because you will not feel comfortable and so you'll stop eating them.

Thanks for the support everyone. I think you're right. I don't have to be too rigid!
