I am just wondering what blood pressure is too low, because my was 83/58 and that one from the second reading, first one would not register at all! My always used to be on the lower end like 100/70 or 100/50.
And the other question I have is about difference between first and second numbers. Doctor once told me(I had headaches then for 2 weeks straight), that if difference is small between the two - it is worse than a little high one. Do you know anything about it?
I am asking because I did not have any headaches for a while, but now as I am following Dr. Graham aproach, I got a headache(detox most likely) and difference between systolic and diastolic readings is small again!

Sorry I can't help you! I just went to the doctor and had my bp done and it was a little lower than yours with a low heart rate. Now for me it's normal. The time before I went to the doctor's they said "you shouldn't be alive right now." Meh, I think it's hereditary for me since when my mom was pregant with me the doctor told her "well, you walked in here ok."

Apparently you have low blood pressure. Somestimes it can be as dangerous as high blood pressure. I don't think 85/50something is terrible. This lifestyle will lower your blood pressure. Now that has been a LIFESAVER for me.

When I was younger I did have very low blood pressure. I never had headaches, but I would see in my eyes as a pebble dropped in a pool, all the rings.
It is always advised to have a medical Dr. opinion. Too much sodium raises mine. Hope you are not more confussed now...Check with DR.

What was yours?

Mine was like 81/56 with a heart rate of 56. I have had an eating disorder though besides the hereditary thing so that may have some impact?

Actually I JUST took mine on a very reliable and accurate monitor and it said: 69/40 with a 66 heart rate.

GreeninLA,

That's about what my blood pressure is, and I'm perfectly healthy. However, it's been my experience when doing fruit fasts that I get headaches after about the fourth day. They go away after about ten days. Maybe too high a sugar content? Or too fast a detox?

I had two instances of my blood pressure dropping to 86/56 or something close to that. All I wanted to do was sleep all day long. It was really bizzare. I never experienced this before.

I have always had blood pressure that was on the low side, but not that low. The low blood pressure followed my cycle.

My friend said to drink carrot juice or get some bee pollen in my system. As soon as I had the carrot juice, my blood pressure resumed to its normal number within the day.

I no longer felt tired.

Good luck,

Before 100% raw I fluctuated between very low and very high. I have a condition that causes mine to go low (unless you are passing out I am sure you are not having this condition). Now that I am raw mine is within the normal ranges. Yeah! My dad and grandfather take Seven flowers to help with their blood pressure issues. Also drinking coconut milk is good for low blood pressure. I have a cousin who always has a low reading 77/50. Her doctors told her that is normal for her. Some people just are lower then other. When I have low blood pressure mine usually drops much lower then that. At home I can get a reading of 54/23, but sometimes at the doctor it is to low to measure. They said with it being that low I should be dead. But the body has its own built in protection. I pass out when it gets that low and the change in position brings my blood pressure back up. So passing out actually saves my life. I will for sure keep a check on your numbers to be on the safe side. for myslef I no longer worry about it. Known of the doctors medicenes helped me, but raw did. So I just stay raw and happy and I feel fine.

Well, my headaches are gone, but I can not go to drugstore today to measure, but when I get a chance -I'll measure it again and see how it is. As for salt - I stopped using it around 10 days ago when I started different raw aproach. I think headaches were just a detox.

Greeninlosangeles,
Welcome to the Sub-100-Club!

Blood pressure is something relative. 100/60 may be low for a SAD-eater, but quite normal for a very healthy person
(read: rawfoodist ;) ). On SAD the kidneys may get problem if the upper pressure (systolic) drops beneath 70,
but that's not valid for a 100/60-person.

”Low blood” pressure is nothing serious contrary to high blood pressure.
Low pressure is sometimes a side effect of medicines, pregnancy or diabetes.

If the differences between the upper and lower pressure is small, the effectiveness of the circulation is lower:
the upper pressure is the pressure during the heart beat, the lower pressure when the heart rest between two beats.

Iloverawfoods,
If you have problem with pass out or fainting, an idea may be to strengthen your leg muscles.
There is a venous pump, balancing the blood pressure.

However, it's been my experience when doing fruit fasts that I get headaches after about the fourth day. A common cycle time of many biological processes is 3-4 days. Coffee abstinence is common on the 3rd-4th day of fastening.
Not caffeine abstinence. Caffeine isn't the effective substance in coffee.

thanks for the tip. When I'm pregnant my bp gets low,78/50 and I get very tired. When I asked the dr if there is something to get it higher, she told me drink coffee, and eat salty foods. I like your advise ALOT better.

Thank you for the advise, but I know longer pass out. This condition was one of the reasons I went on a raw food diet. And guess what? It worked! My blood pressure is fine now.
