If I were to buy only one or two books - which should it be?
What's your favorite raw-food cook/general book and why?
Love Alba :)

Jennifer Cornbleet: Raw Food Made Easy For 1 OR 2 People
I like the simple recipes and the clear instructions

Alissa Cohen: Living on Live Food
Because she simply rocks!

I have a lot of other books - most of them I like but some aren't so great.

Hi

Ok, I know this is Alissa's site and, really, this is not a plug, but her book is the BEST!

I love her book, it is the only one I have right now. I have read several but never been impressed enough to buy them for myself. I love her book though. It is amazing. Great recipes, pictures and inspirational stories. I got so much more than I thought I wasoito get. Well worth the money and then some. Very, very good!

Also 12 Steps to Raw by the Bortenkos (sp?). I loved that book and would like to buy that one when we get some extra money. It was very informative.

I have a ton of raw books, but Alissa's is the only one that doesn't get "read and shelved." It's permanently laying around the house and it's the one I reach for over and over again for different reasons (inpsiration, recipes).

The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose (Superb common sense book which takes you from SAD to RAW if you so desire)

Eating in the Raw by Carol Alt (While most raw foodists are vegan, Carol (one of the first supermodels) eats raw meat, raw fish and raw dairy. Judging by her photo on the book cover, she is certainly doing something right!! Carol claims to be 95% raw).

I have Alissa's book ordered... I can't wait to receive it!!! I really love "Living Cuisine" by Renee Loux Underkoffler... she has a new book coming out Aug.22. However, if i've read correctly, the new book is a balance of raw foods and whole foods incorperating Ayurveda. It also talks alot about the environment and living an organic lifestyle. (it's called "The Balanced Plate") I've been taking different parts of different books and creating my own recipes... a cheese from here... a sauce from there... an prep. idea from another... you get the point. :)

Ok, so now I've ordered Alissa's DVD and book - Cannot wait till I get it!!
But I was baffled to find out, that shipping the package (with UPS) was more expensive than the book and DVD!!???
I hate living so far away :p

I second that. I am also a huge fan of Natalia Rose's Raw Food Detox Diet, and I *do* loan it around to people I'm hoping will get inspired by raw, because an instant 100% conversion doesn't work for everybody.

And I third that! :) I think Raw Food Real World is the most beautiful and visually inspiring raw book I've ever seen. It just makes me WANT to be raw. I have had the great pleasure of eating at Pure Food and Wine and it is soooooo fantastic. I love Sarma's take on the raw food lifestyle. She is one inspiring lady. :)

I also love Raw Food Real World. It is the only one that I have where I have LOVED every recipie. The other recipies I have tried haven't been as good and it is a lovely book with lots of info.

The Raw Gourmet by Nomi Shannon, Books by David Wolfe and lets not forget all Books by Ann Wigmore, I call her the Mother of the Movement......

I liked
The Living Foods Lifestyle by Brenda Cobb - she cured her two cancers
Nature's First Law bu David Wolfe - very inspirational, every chapter ends with "Cooked Food is Poison" which makes it to engrave deep in your brain. No recipes there, just a case of raw versus cooked food.

Try to reserve books in your local library - I got to read bunch this way without paying. It is more fun to surround yourself with as much inspiration as you can.

I've just ordered The Live Food Factor though (by Susan Schenck) and it looks quite interesting.

I love, love, LOVE the Raw Food/Real World book. I love the pictures, the vibe and the wonderful, inspirational recipes.

I also have a special place in my heart for Alissa's video and book. They are so simple and accessible. The mock salmon collard wrap is my go-to easy meal.

The one raw book I wish I hadn't purchased is the Rawvolution book from Matt Amsden. I don't feel I got my money's worth with it. Very few recipes in a book that clearly tried to emulate the Raw Food/Real World style (which of course is what suckered me in :o )

Which is why I cannot afford to buy it at present. UPS to Europe costs so much. I wrote to ask whether they could post it by NORMAL US postal services, but they said no. I don't understand why they cannot do this. All the stuff I order from the States is posted with the Postal Services to reduce costs.

I've never had anyone send me anything from there with UPS.

Of course Alissa's book is my favorite and most often used of all the many many raw food books I've got! It lives on the kitchen counter in its permanent position.

I also love Raw Food, Real World and Natalia Rose's Detox book. Okay, so I named 3 but there are so many great ones!
