I was at whole food this morning and i noticed all the women grabbing up this tea at first i thought is was just a cooked sugary tea but i grabbed a bottle when i noticed it said living foods and raw, its suppose to have amazing effects including the fact that it has probiotics, amino acids, anitoxidants and polyhenols, acive enzymes thought it might help with candida, it has a taste that is almost reminicisant of apple cidear vinegar and in a sick way i liked it :) wonder if anyone else has tried this tea
it says on the bottle it helps with: digestion, metabolism, immune system, appetite control, weight control, liver function, body aslkalinity, anti-aging, cell integrity, healthy skin and hair

I believe Kombucha tea is processed? Does anyone else know? But the fact is said raw and living...I'm not sure.
I used to drink it and loved it...

I Love kombucha tea! So much so that I started to make my own. (If you are interested be very careful...people have become ill in some cases gravely ill from making their own)
Some might not consider it raw because it starts with a brew of tea and sugar. IMHO the sugar is eatten up by the benefical microorganisms in the fermentation process, so that if left long enough there is no sugar left. Its simply a food supply for the little critters.
I wanted to try honey but due to the naturally occuring organisms in raw honey it would kill the mushroom start. I have yet to try maple syrup or agave. I think they should work.
Some are opposed due to the caffine content of the tea, I am not sure about store bought brands, but with homemade you can use herbal tea.
Now I am inspired to get another batch going.....

I love the stuff! I tried it for the first time a couple days ago, and liked it so much that the next day I went back to Whole Foods and bought their last three bottles.
I'm going to see if I can order a case from them.

I love kombucha as you can probably tell! You saw GT's Kombucha brand I believe which IS raw. Some other brands such as Wonderdrink aren't. The sugar does get converted and eating up by the bacteria. There shouldn't be any left by the time the fermenting process is done. I make my own as well! I am actually thinking of starting a kombucha forum even! I think what happens to make people sick when they make thier own is mold. That is rare, but it can be very dangerous. As long as it is thoroughy covered with a breathable cloth, this shouldn't be a problem.
Glad to see there are other out there who enjoy this stuff! I always feel very energized and elated when I have my kombucha! :)

I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. I also love the stuff. It's addicting. I'd like to drink one bottle a day, but they're are somewhat pricey.
What flavor did you try? I've only had the Multi-Green and like it so much I don't want to try a different flavor.
I love it! Some might not consider it raw since it begins with tea (the sugar is consumed by the bacteria, which is why it's not sweet unless it's flavored later) but it's definitely a living food! I have a watered down glass in a wine glass most nights with dinner. Feels very festive to me. :D

I love it too, but I think there's alcohol, although very little. I felt drunk after drinking 4oz of it.

There is a tiny amount of alcohol in it due to fermentaion, but not enough to be considered an alcoholic beverage. I have never felt drunk from it before. I love the Mystic Mango flavor.
Making it yourself is definitely a LOT cheaper. :)

Yes, I'm extremely sensitive to alcohol. My face turned purple red after drinking 4oz of that kombucha. :o

I guess I'll have to give it a try.........
I just LOVE GT's Kombucha. I am drinking the Strawberry as I write this. I like the Grape and Ginger, too.
It has helped me over weightloss plateaus, detoxes and is supposed to be beneficial for cancer, which I have.
I buy it buy the case and get a discount that way. Maybe that would help. At $3.99 a bottle, it is pricey!

I was able to give up alcohol by detoxing with kombucha. the effects of kombucha can be relaxing and euphoric but it is not the same as getting drunk, it takes you in the other direction. One of the benefits of drinking kombucha is that it detoxifies and heals the liver and kidneys and balances the Ph. The quick balancing of Ph in the body I think is what most people are feeling when they think they might be getting light headed but it is actually a beneficial result of detoxing. With continued daily use this short lived effect is no longer experienced as such but you'll still feel happy and relaxed!
The stuff is great. I bought a whole case of it.
Because I haven't drank in many years I get a little buzz off of it (even though it's supposedly only .5% alcohol). It's great to be able to drink something healthy and live and still get that sensation!! :D

It is pricey and I wasn't sure about the 2 kinds I saw so I skipped it. Now a co-worker is going out of town and she just e-mailed and said she left some in the fridge at work for me so Yippeee! I get to try it tomorrow! I used to always want to make everything from scratch myself but I don't have the time for it and I am afraid of making a deadly error with this fermented stuff!

I, too, love the GTs brand. I've tried a lot of the flavors and agree the Mango one is great. I also like the ginger, green and cranberry ones. I get it for $2.99 a bottle here but I feel it's worth it. I'm too nervous to make my own.

Woah, I just discovered a store called Barganica that sells all organic stuff for really cheap... I bought a bottle of Kombucha for $2.89, that is about how much a sobe or energy drink usually costs and is way less than a Starbucks coffee....
I love kombucha, I'd only had the non-raw "wonder drink" kind before and thought it was wierd, but I'm drinking the mango synergy one now and I feel all tingly.
I don't think kombucha loves me, though... first in the store as I was trying to gather up my purchases I shattered a bottle all over the floor... the nice clerk gave me a new one for free though.... but then I went to drink the mango one in the car and it fizzed bright yellow staining fluid all over me and the car... grrrrrrrrr.............. we got off to a bad start, but hopefully we can overcome it.

They should have more of a warning than "shake gently" on the bottle. I know now that you have to open, let a little air in, close, open, let a little air in, close, open, let a little air in, close often so it doesnt explode everywhere. It can be a bit like champagne with a screw top. I bought about 15 bottles on my last trip but one bottle didn't fair well on the way home and half of it had leaked out and all over the other ones before I got home.
