I like seeing those type of pictures as well. At first I thought you meant RAW food vs. the SAD version of the same thing, which I think would also be interesting haha.

Wow guys
Audrey your pictures really spurred me on at the mo I am very like your SAD pic, busty and curvy and I never thought it was possible to become so lean, I guess some times it can hinder success as I dont actually believe that its possible but seeing your RAW picture has really shocked me, that we can actually look like a different build after losing excess weight. thank you so much for posting your picture and it is so inspirational to me. THANK YOU and keep up the fab work you look so beautiful.

you look like you have been sliced in half!! wow its such a transformation in such a short period of time!! you look radiant!! you mentioned in your post that you only changed when you went 100% raw, does that mean that even on high raw you didnt notice much changes?

:o You're so sweet to say these things, Thank you!!!!
I never was high raw, I was intending to transition to it, but always slipped up in some fashion, so one morning I woke up, trashed or gave away everything cooked, and went shopping :D June 29th was my first day 100% and although I've had my cravings and tough moments, I've made it through. :D

Audrey, Corinne, & Sheryl,

You ladies look awesome. Not only do you look awesome, I bet you FEEL great! Sometimes the "best" things aren't on the outside but on the inside where people can't see. You can be thin but feel horrible but we're doing it the right way and we LOOK better and FEEL better. Life is GREAT.

And thank you, to all of you who have complimented us. This helps keep us motivated too :D I can't imagine what it will be like once I can "stay" 100% raw. I'm now on day 3 of 100%. I never give up!

Here I am in October last year. Then I weighed 83.4 kg and was eating burritos with whole wheat tortillas and stir-fried vegetables (with chicken sometimes) and brown rice. Not SAD, but not raw either.
http://phma.optus.nu/Pictures/2005-10-01-1.jpg
This is me just over two weeks ago. I went raw some time in June and my weight went from 81.0 (beginning of June) to 77.5 (two days ago). I still eat cooked on social occasions and don't have a blender yet.
http://phma.optus.nu/Pictures/2006-07-15-vreta.jpg
I'm only 1.51 m tall, and I don't know if extrapolating is valid. I don't have a recent picture of just my face; the other picture that day is the back of my head (for LHC purposes).

Hi Sue,

So glad to see you back here! I've missed your posts!!!!

I had to do the conversion and I see you lost 13 pounds (since last October but the majority of it since June) - Congratulations!!!!! Hope you are "feeling" the difference too!

Pierre
08-05-2006, 07:09 AM
I just checked the scale. 76.3. But that's after a hot sweaty night so I'm going to start with some watermelon.

The main difference I feel is that the hot weather (it's hit 37 °C, maybe 38) doesn't bother me as much as last year even though the humidity is high. Also my sweat feels purer.

This is me and what 3 years of high raw, 18 days of water fasting and actually a lifestyle 100% raw have made to me!!
The first picture was taken in july 2001, the day of my graduation. The second one was taken one month ago, there are 45 lbs of toxins and fat missing in the second me!
Life is great!

Let's do away with the metric system once and for all!
If you were starting from scratch I think that it by far the more sensible system but the problem is that if you grow up (as I did) using the imperial then it is very hard to change over. We have been metric for a few years and I have to talk in metres but I still think in feet and inches.

Fragola and Sue - you both look great.

Pierre - well done for starting this path, you've already done so well.

It's not just the weight loss that I notice, it's the fact that people on raw look so radiant compared to how they looked previously. Shiny eyes, good skin and VERY BIG SMILES!

I'm very impressed and motivated .

It's not an excuse, and I'm not trying to confuse you. It's one of the first things I measured. My father, being French, had metric tapes, and I found metric easier, so I stuck with it. As to confusing, when I was a kid, the Canadians used a different gallon than the Americans. Now we both use the same liter as everyone else.

Wow Fragola!

Okay, I am pretty shy about doing this, but I just had my husband help me with before and afters for my blog page after 60 days high-raw.

I'm very happy with my weight loss of 19 pounds and 17 inches in 60 days, but I think there's also such a difference in the bloated and puffy appearance. (Yeah, I cheated a little and had my cat help with the before so I wouldn't feel too self-conscious... :D ). Two months seems like a long time, but not compared with how long it took me to gain all that weight. Continuing my patient releasing of the excess...hoping to be another Angela Stokes success story after the first year. :)

 Never heard of that before...I did a Google search and saw some sites on naturally curly hair come up. Spirally curls, fine hair, normal density? Yep! I do have that. In the after photo, it was about half air-dried after I washed it, so it wasn't even it's full curliness yet. I don't use a blow dryer and the natural drying makes the curls look even more spiral. Looks kinda like yours...without the beard. :D

I used to wear it short so I didn't have to deal with the curls...now I have to keep it long so I don't look like that lady in the Dilbert cartoon with the triangular hair!

Thanks for the compliment! :)

i know, i'm derailing, but what would you call wavy/curly hair that gets less wavy the longer it gets and much more curly the shorter it gets. if my hair is short, it will dry in ringlets. it's also very fine, but also a little frizzy (although i think that comes more from the ever appearing greys), if it's not short. it's also auburn.

my hair is a pita :).

OK, so here are my before and afters. Unfortunately, I spent a good deal of time deleting all, or at least most of my befores. I did find one or two of me in family photos that I just couldn't get rid of. Every time I look at this picture it makes me truly appreciate raw food for what it's done for me and my family.

Honestly I thought the same thing.

That would be interesting though. McD's burger vs. a Raw Burger. Imagine how different that would look.

I like seeing those type of pictures as well. At first I thought you meant RAW food vs. the SAD version of the same thing, which I think would also be interesting haha.

This is me and what 3 years of high raw, 18 days of water fasting and actually a lifestyle 100% raw have made to me!!

You said it. I do have a certain confidence now that is hard to explain. I think it comes with feeling better about myself, not just the way I look, but also the way I feel. When I was heavier (50 lbs to be exact), I didn't enjoy doing things outdoors as much and I wasn't able to keep up with our four children as well. But all that's changed now, and it gets better every day.

Having said all that, my primary motivation for eating better and eventually going raw was my children. I didn't want them to grow up in a house of convenience foods. Instinctually I knew better, but wasn't sure how to approach it. Suffice it to say, my kids are now about 75-90% raw (depending on the child) and I love it. I take such pride that my son likes kale chips for breakfast and my daughter thinks Alissa's blueberry pie is the best dessert in the world. My friends all think I'm nuts, but that's OK. Raw food has been a true God-send to my family, and we are very grateful.

good for you Maraw!!
I have been trying to deal with the "thinking Im nuts issue" around here also and its refreshing to hear your take on it!! you sound just like the kinda of person I would like to be!! I will work on operation " not giving a hoot!" and see how it goes. I think it might be even more prevelant over here(Ireland) as it is still very traditional in its thinking where as when I was in the states I noticed that people were making special dietary requests even eating out and the waitress didnt seem to blink an eyelid where as over here its like as if I am being a nuisance and they look at me like I have 6 heads!
I am loving this thread at the mo with all the fabulous pictures on it, for some reason for me it is starting to shift something in my mindset and is setting more concrete motivation too!!
thanks again.

Kale chips  ?! How do you make these?? I am always looking for new items for my little ones. What other things do they especially like. . .

A good friend shared this recipe with me, and it's SOOO easy.

You need 1 bunch of organic kale, washed and the center stem/vein removed.
a little olive oil
a little agave nectar
sea salt

Plut your kale in a really really big bowl and cover it with water and add about 1/2 tsp. sea salt. Bruise it a bit by grabbing it with your hands firmly. Let it sit about 30 minutes or so. Drain, but do not rinse. Toss with 1 T. olive oil and about 1 T. agave nectar - you may want to add another pinch of sea salt (I usually do).

Place it in your dehydrator, set on 115 degrees and let it go overnight or about 6-8 hours. You can leave it in longer, it won't hurt it.

They come out like real chips - nice and crispy and crunchy. My son will empty the entire dehydrator if they are in there at breakfast. It brings a proud maternal tear to my eye (sniff, sniff).

Hope your kids like it as well!

I know this isn't the thread for food pics, but I thought it might be helpful.

Wow! All I can say is that one day I have before and after pictures that drastic! I'm not sure if I ever will since it was only 19 years of cooked instead of 30-50. I did have a good "after" picture last summer, but will all the current health stuff going on my "after" picture is back to the "before" even on raw, except my eyes...they're bright white!

I am still a little embarrassed about these pics, but here they are anyway!

I understand about that! I was shy to put mine up too because of where I started. Most people's before photos I see are still under 200 pounds. I actually didn't have that many before photos because I stopped letting myself be photographed after a certain weight. I only had one or two from my actual starting weight.

You look WONDERFUL! You've done so well, and it's not just the weight loss, it's the beautiful glow as well. You're definitely an inspiration to me. I started at 280 and am now at 261, so I know how it feels to start at a way bigger weight.

No need to be embarrassed at all, it's just a starting point. I use my before photos as inspiration...inspiration for where I'm never going to be again. Weight-wise, depression-wise, and health-wise. :D

OK- I'll be brave. I couldn't find any photos of my highest weight because I wouldn't let anyone take photos of me at that time in my life so this one will have to do.

I went vegan in June 2004 and raw in Oct 2005. I've lost 50 lbs since going vegan, 20 lbs since going raw. The after pics were taken at Farm Sanctuary this past weekend!

It seems so hard when you're not even sure whether Its as great as people make out (even though Ive been raw before and felt great!!! It seems like that was just a dream or something). This visual proof makes it seems so much easier when you have something to aim for. I have a few pounds to lose and everybody on here seems to lose a few pounds no problem!!
