Does anybody know a nice way of preparing a globe artichoke? I've never had one before, but had to have it as I thought it looked really pretty! :)

I cant eat a raw artichoke, but in our house we love them. So this is one vegetable I wont avoid eating because I can't eat it raw. I will eat them cooked only.
However the jerusalem artichokes are good, but not the same flavor as a globe artichoke. These you can eat raw and they are very good.
Hopefully, you can find someone who has eaten the globes raw. Maybe someone can shed some light on the subject for you.
The globe artichokes sometimes taste like asparagus.
I had read somewhere that there were people who could eat a raw globe artichoke. I am not sure how they prepared it. It seems to me that they only used the heart of the artichoke and threw the rest of the vegetable away.

I read somewhere on this board before that the only way to eat raw artichokes is if you get baby ones. You could just experiment maybe and try to eat the heart raw? I wouldn't bother with the leaves.

With hindsight I wouldn't have bought it. Will just experiment and see how I get on. If I come up with anything really tasty I'll post on the board.
Thanks again!
