I made some brazil nut milk for my daughter the other day. This is the first nut milk that she would actually drink. However, I did mix it with rice milk. It was about 1/2 and 1/2.
Although I have done this in the past with the half and half mixture she would still have a full cup of milk left over. But the brazil nut milk she drank it. Humm.
The other nut milks that I have tried for her in the past have a rement of nut in the milk that sticks in the throat. It makes me cough.
I strain the milk through a metal strainer. I am wondering if I used a nut milk bag instead that it would solve the problem that I am having with the nut milks.
My daughter is 22 months old and loves the nut milk I make for her. I use a nut milk bag, brazil nuts, agave, coconut oil, and a little non-GMO lecithin. I put a little in her blue cup and love watching her drink it and then say "more!" (This goes on for about 5 times, because if I fill up her glass to the top, she dumps it out for some reason. So I give her a little each time and she downs it.)
The nut milk that I make is sooo yummy that my dairy-loving dad tried it a few weeks ago and told me that if he had somebody that would make it for him everyday that he would give up cow's milk for good.
I just recently switched my 3 yr old from whole milk to almond milk. I strain it thru a nutmilk bag and it works great for keeping the pulp out! I mixed her milk half and half for a couple of weeks and now she only drinks the almond. Now if I can just get her to eat more raw foods life will be great ;)

I use unbleached cheese cloth from Whole Foods instead of a nut milk bag.

I used the cheesecloth because I had some in my house and it worked great on the nut milks.
However, I think I may look into getting a nut milk bag soon.
I actually liked the raw almond milk better than the store bought stuff. Humm!! Must be because I have been raw for a year and half.
Even my baby drank some. That is even better yet.

Vanilla brazil nut milk and chocolate brazil nut milk are the things dreams are made of... I use the recipes from Raw Food Real World. I haven't tried their strawberry variation yet though.
