I have no idea but it would be interesting to know, I was thinking about this the other day too. It would be cool if there were a website where you just typed in your area and it gave the approximate number of raw fooders in the area lol. :D

Yeah, that's weird, maybe something can be said by looking at the growth of the amount of members on this site, but I follow this to short to say anything

I see a lot of people have the same question :p

I'd say quite a few! I'm in CT and we have a raw restaurant near us (well it's mostly raw) and more and more people are showing up. In fact they went raw temporarily and got so much feedback they are doing it year round now. I'm happy because all of this interest means I can go out to eat now!

I wish we would get a decent raw diner here. Yes it would be neat to know. I wonder if Alissa would have any statics on this.

not sure of the number, but i've seen between 3-4 people on another board that have been talking about how they are interested in it.

it is definitely growing. i'm not sure if it's growing by leaps and bounds, though.

i'd love to know a number. i don't know the numbers on vegetarians and vegans in the US, either.

i really wish we had a veg*n/raw place around here. there's hardly anywhere healthy to eat.

No clue, but i'd like to know. I'm sur ethere are many that havn't found online forums so they're kinda on their own and we wouldn't be able to count them. I just found out today that there are quite a few that stop by in my local HFS. They're not completely raw, but they're interested and have tried, but not stuck with it...there's hope for more of us!

Ok, I read somewhere that 5% are vegetarians and >1% or ~1% (I can't remember which) are vegans - so raw fooders would be included in those percentages. I remember reading this after I went vegan and being astounded at it, for some reason I thought the numbers were greater like maybe 30% (or at least 10%) being vegetarian.

The Uk is 5% vegetarian

And a bit about worldwide vegetarianism, I guess the 30% of Indians who are vegetarian must be Hindus. Makes me want to study Hinduism, something I've never done.

Looking at the world’s most populated countries – China, India, the United States, Indonesia and Brazil – only one of them has a large vegetarian population, which is India. As discussed in depth later, about 30% of the Indian population is completely vegetarian. However, the percentage of vegetarians in China and Brazil is negligible. In a survey conducted in Hong Kong, for example, only 1.5% consider themselves vegetarians [9]. While the population of the world’s five most populated countries makes up about half of the world population, there are – in these settings – about 15% of vegetarians (being verygenerous).

Over ten thousand probably (probably fifteen if you include non-vegans).

With probably a hundred thousand or more semi-raw aspirants. :)

Just my guess.

I think Light Food is right about those percentages so we are not even on the map yet, really.

The number of vegetarians is growing quite quickly, but raw is still way out there on the fringes.

I am currently reading: The Paleo Diet and the author makes the claim that one can assume that there are 6 billion people who are NOT eating the Paleo way on the planet. There are probably less raw fooders!!

What I love to see is that on this site there are always many numbers of people looking around, more than members! That is a good sign :p

central CT...it's in Hartford a cross from Trinity College. Alchemy Juice Bar. It's a restaurant/yoga studio. There's a raw feast coming up and they do classes as well. Next one is in two weeks.

I think there are alot of people who eat some raw, even people who eat salad.

and our country is so large, that there are probably millions.

My guess is 3,245,679.4 people who eat 70% raw or more LOL
