Yikes!!!
I'm recently back to raw --- Yeah!
Pulled out the "fabulous" excaliber dehydrator & the shelves are coated w/ at sticky mess.
So far: Regular dish soap did NOTHING!!!
dish soap w/ bleach -- a little breakdown but still sticky & gummy after dried completely.
Mr. Clean all purpose cleaner (I cringed when I sprayed it on but I don't what else to try) and even w/ a brush the gummy stuff won't totally come off!

I think the last recipe was coconut macaroons w/ honey or agave... but What the heck else can I try to get my wonderful dehydrator back????

The onion bread is waiting..... help!!

Fill your tub w/ hot water. Spray everything w/ Simple Green in the meantime. When the tub is full enough to cover all the trays, drop them in the tub. Add Simple Green to the water. Soak. Rinse and stick in dehydrator to dry.

If that doesn't do it, order more trays from Alissa. :D

Old oil can actually go solid, a little like paint. That's what you often see on the outside of cooking pots. I did the same thing with a microscope once - if you forgot to clean off the oil emulsion, it went hard and you had to throw out the lense.

Can you scrape it off?

spray with water to dampen the sheets ... sprinkle generously with baking soda. Let it sit .... then scrub off with a wet scruffy.

You may want to attempt turning the dehydrator on full blast for a few hours, the heat might soften it up enough to make removal easier.

I reccommend soaking in vinegar! It works fantastically!

Well:
Simple green did NOTHING!!!
The vinegar worked a little...
I finally suceeded with good old fashioned Fels Naptha Soap & hot water w/ a scrubbie sponge.....
Thanks for all the advice -- it was probably the combo that did the trick!! :D
