The other one was getting too long. 700 and some posts, that's wonderful! How about some new recipes and pics?

In light of the other one having gotten so big, I guess it'd be okay with everyone if I close it up and make it read-only so the new posts will go here?

Question about the basil cream. Do you think it would work as well using avocado instead of cashews? I may give it a go just to see how it turns out...

I was wondering how long we could push the other thread before it got too big.

Oh good. I'd been thinking the same thing the past week or so. It's such a great thread, but with being so big, it was getting really hard to find certain recipes in it (30 pages to go through and all). :D

I will contribute to this new thread this week and finally share some of my "eats" this week, starting the 30-day challenge tomorrow!!

Woo-hoo!! This site rawks, and all of you rawk!!!

You know, not to get mushy or anything :p and get too far off topic, but there are other raw forums out there, and none of them come anywhere CLOSE to how great a group of people we have here and how much more of a COMMUNITY this place is. :D Don't you think?? :o

Could you create a photo-only thread where people can't make comments?

It seems that the comments take up more room than the photos.

Can people have a separate thread where they ooh and ahh and request the recipes of the photos for the other thread?

I think that might be confusing trying to match things up though. If we did have a separate thread for photos only, you would need to at least have captions with it to give the title of the dish so you could find the corresponding recipe on the other thread.

But how do we discourage all of the comments and back-pats that seem to take up all the room. I love looking at the photos, but it seems that there are only 3 photos per page and the rest are high-fives and recipe inquiries.

Not that there is anything wrong with that - just causes people to have to wade through it all to find the meat of the thread.

It does cause the thread to get overwhelming big very fast, I know what you mean. Wouldn't it be cool if you could open the thread, click a button that says "view photos only". :D

I'm not sure what an ideal solution is...

Just when it was catching up to the exercise thread-- BAM - you strike it down in its prime!

:D

It does not matter to me either way - a few clicks of the mouse or a few scrolls of the mouse.....

I could use the burn of a few extra calories anyway!

I have a suggestion: if you post a photo of some wonderful creation please post the recipe with it? this way it all will be there together? Joz

That is a good idea.

If it's a personal creation, post the recipe.

If it's a published recipe publish the source, (or link) not the recipe, to protect the author's copyright.

But now after all this banter, shall we create a new thread with the guidelines? Rawkinlocs? May I?

If it's a personal creation, post the recipe.

Or, if you prefer to wait until people ask for the recipe, edit the photo post and put the recipe on the original post so they're still together. The Edit button is your Friend. :D

Gee, this new photo thread is turning into everything BUT photos - not a single photo posted here yet!

Too many rules.

It is easy to scroll the mouse down and just look at the pictures. I like the comments- they are encouraging to the people who take the time to make the dishes and post the wonderful pictures.

I don't see it as a bother.... no heavy lifting required. :)

That is cool with me. It is just easier and nicer to see all the photos in a row rather than having to wade through the pages, which becomes time consuming. Maybe I am the only one who finds this tedious?

I always have my e-mail available for folks to send me a personal note. I don't see the problem with people getting accolades directly into their e-mail box. It would make them feel extra special for sure.

We could always have a "photo only" thread with nothing but photos with their recipes, and an "anything goes" thread where people could question, praise and comment until the cows come home - LOL.

Oh Rawkinlocks, we need your help!!!!! Good idea for a photos only thread with recipes added as an edit if needed.

Thanks Mookie for yanking my chain. I saw it. ;)

Note to Rawkinlocs - I tried to resize it to 600 X 600 per the guidelines and put it in the post as an attachment. It still said it was too big! That is why it is so tiny. Is there another way?

Okay never mind...I used the photo on my site, used "insert image" and it turned out fine. I guess attachments just can't be very big.

all 269 past posted pics would be accessible from the one thread with the new pics.

If so, or if anyone has a better idea, or just wants the file attachment sent to their e-mail, please let me know.

Teri S

I Love pictures; and will not buy a cook un-cook book without them. Would you send me the attachment? I probably have seen many of them it would be nice to see them all together. Thank You, Joz wyjozu2@aol.com

22 posts so far, and not a single photo. What's the matter guys? New thread anxiety? Let's get busy!!! :D

I'll start: I had this for dinner. It was jicama noodles w/an avocado and basil sauce. The red pepper really finished it off nicely - so did the orange slices. The sauce was just a rough blend of avo, basil, flax oil, onion and garlic, pinch of sea salt and lemon juice. I thinned it with a little water, but it was great as-is. Just a little too thick.

I'll see ya'll in a week, and I want to see some pictures when I get back! Have fun everyone! :)

Sending the file folder did not work so I made a PDF and sent it to myself and it worked fine. It has 6 pics per page with captions. I don't have a website. Is anyone willing to put it on their site so it can be downloaded by all who want it? If so let me know and I'll sent it to you.

Teri S

I don't think the photos should be posted on another website without the permission of those who took the photos. Yes, the members posted the photos here but they still own the copyrights of said photos.

I think it's great though that you've taken the time to compile all the pics and are willing to share with all of us. :) Was the file too big to email?

Thanks! I use a Cannon 20D. It's perfect for quick shots of the kids and taking pictures of food. It's really versitile, I love it.

Mary, I did try several times and keep getting an error. Not doing well at the moment. Toxins, among other things. Having the kind of day where you want to cry, die, or both. Will try again later.
