View Full Version : Eating lots of cacoa makes me sleepy

Has this happened to anyone?
I'm very sensitive to caffeine, so much that I can't drink green tea in the evening or else I'd lose sleep. However, everytime when I eat A LOT of cacoa, I get very tired and sleepy. I'm usually never sleepy during the day time. However, if I eat only a little, I get extra energetic. :confused: :confused:

Oh Linda, this reminds me of something I did read lately:
That, (mainly "SAD"" people) people approach foods in the wrong direction:
- Coffee, chocolate etc.. should be approached as a kind of medicine: :o
So only if you are very tired you take a little bit and it will take away your being tired. In a way to compare with homeopathy! :)
- But what most people (why you are looking at me?!...) do: they consume lots of these stimulators, which will make them tired, and then they use more and more, and when they stop using they feel withdrawal symptoms :eek:
So: What we should do (I am really planning to do this) is following the homeopathic way, and this will also learn us to stay more in contact to our feelings in stead of to bury them ;)

It's interesting how our bodies are all so different.
I too am very sensitive to caffeine and could never handle coffee (it gave me the jitters, insomnia and an upset stomach).
But cacao has no effect on me.

And also, when I drink to much coffee overday it is not working anymore
and I will feel very sleepy in the evening, no matter if I continue drinking it.

I've read from a few places that cacao is a stimulant, so maybe too much of it will make your feel burnt out (like a kind of "boom and bust.")

The body is a curious thing as I can tolerate a fair amount of coffee (though I gave it up now) and I can eat cacao a few hrs before bed, no problem. BUT if I had green or black tea mid day I would be up 1/2 the night !
Now white tea, I am fine !!
