I've ehard that because of the high pottasium levels, bananas attract mosquitoes but citrus fruits act as a repellent. Anyone heard of this?

Link to myths and truths (http://www.bugsmart.ca/truths/)
Myth: Eating bananas will attract mosquitoes to you.
The truth: No studies indicate that eating bananas will attract mosquitoes to you. Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide your body emits, along with strong fragrances from perfumes, hair care products and skin care products.
Of course this is just from one site, if I find anything else I'll edit this post.

I don't know about the consumption of fruits and the increase in mosquitos, but I know that lime juice applied to the skin acts as a natural repellant. One caution with this is do not use when spending time in direct sun, may cause citric acid burns. I used this all the time when I lived in Mexico and after the sun went down. An added benefit is the great smell and you taste great :D
peace~

Well then I guess it's mosquito time for me because I love bananas and they are a very healthy food so I'm not giving them up.

Bananas might attract mosquitos, but banana peels get rid of mosquito bites.
Save the peels.
