Here's my situation: I wanted to contribute to the environment more & decided to bike to the library. I haven't rode a bike since I was a little kid, & that may have contributed to my painful yesterday! While I was riding, I lost my breath easily & could barely go up hills. By the end of the trip to the library & back home, my groin(sorry for being too graphic), biceps, thighs, & back really hurt! Today, it's just my back. Thank goodness!

The other factors I think may have contributed to the painful bike ride:

- I haven't ate anything for days (I know it's bad(I'm fasting to detox), but my whole body could hurt like that just by biking?!)
- I didn't drink any water (big no-no, I know)
- I may have not done enough stretching
- I can barely touch my feet to the ground, when I'm one the bike. Can a bike being too big for me be a problem?

I'm kind of active & don't think I'm out of shape. I'd either run, do karate, tai-chi, play basketball or badminton.

Any insights or advice on bike riding would be great! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

fasting is a time of healing and you don't want to overdo it when you are fasting. It can be dangerous. Also you gotta stay hydrated especially when you are fasting and/or being physical.

Take care of yourself. There's only one of you.

konmai - oh most definitely an improper bike can be detrimental to you! Get to a shop and get fitted. It could be a simple seat adjustment. A proper fitting bike, you should be able to straddle it and have an inch of space between your crotch and the bike (this is a boy's bike).
I blew a knee out once when my seat had been adjusted just a hair. I re-adjusted and was able to do 60 miles the next day!
And I agree about the fasting. Good Lord! You are reaking havoc on your poor body. Don't do that! Either bike or fast, both is not good. And no water? Shame on you!!!
Also - for those aches and pains? Do a dead sea salt soak in the tub. Not hot water but warm and soak for a minimum 30 minutes. Epsom salts work too, but not as good as the dead sea salts.

I'm so thankful I still have the receipt along w/ the UPC. The bike is too big for me, but I thought I'd be superwoman & handle it. How much is it going to cost getting fitted for a bike? My baby brother went bike riding w/ me, & I wondered how come my groin was hurting(I'm the sister) & his wasn't. I was so jealous!

Yes. No more bike riding(or any other high activity) for me until after the fast! I know I'm crazy. Thank you for bringing me to that realization.

I don't have any dead sea salts, but I have some Epsom. So I'll try it if my pain doesn't go away tomorrow.

Thank you for the insights. I'm going to implement now! Any more advice on biking(tips & tricks?) would be great(of course I'm biking after I complete the fast).
