Hi guys,
I'm new to this site but am familiar with raw food since a few years back. The thing I would like some help with is: I have done a weightloss surgery, duodenal switch, part of this surgery is malabsorbative ie I will only absorb aprox 40% of my proteins. So I need to make sure that I aim for 80-100 grams of protein each day according to my doctor. Is this viable with raw food? Would I be able to reach these kind of levels?
Any advice at all is much apreciated!

From what I've read the high protein is only for a couple of months after surgery (just did some reading online). How long have you been recommended to eat that level? Sounds like alot to try on raw. You might find blended raw foods the way to go to help with absorption.
Good luck!

I've been recommended to eat that level pretty much for life as a large part of my intestines have been bypassed. I had my surgery 12 weeks ago.

Suggestion:
-You should have no problems looking up food values on Fitday.com......or do a google for the 'Nutrient Database' and search for each of the foods you are eating.
-Make sure that you are getting the caloric and nutrient requirements that you are recommended and that YOU feel (in connection with your doctor or other valued information source)....especially this close after surgery.
-I recommend that you incorporate raw foods at a very small pace this close after your surgery.....on only change your previous diet in smaller and more intelligent increments.
-I certainly believe that raw food is the highest quality food you can eat....and think that you are behaving very intelligently....and asking the right questions! :)
-Power & success to you!

If you do try the raw vegan lifestyle I would definately make sure to take digestive enzymes & probiotics to help out. If you take a Protease it will help break down the proteins even more and if you take a protease inbetween meals it will help to heal your digestive track.
Sorry now that I have read more about duodenal switch I guess that is the whole objective...to not digest the food to delay absorbtion. wow.
Definately go with tons of leafy greens smoothies and nuts.
Also many raw foodist use hemp protien powder so that would be another option.
