I expect my new dehydrator this week. I see some posts where people have had trouble. I guess there's a learning curve. Do you have any idiot-proof dehydrator recipes? I'm looking for crackers (flax seed) or breads.
Does use of these foods slow down weight loss?

I haven't used my dehydrator much since I got it a couple weeks ago, but I can tell you that the "Easy" Pizza bread is really really good, and it smells FANTASTIC. I could smell it all through the house.
Crackers are my next attempt :D

When Im dehydrating anything I turn mine on a higer setting than called for to warm it up. Kinda like preheating. Just dont forget to turn it back down after about half an hour or so. Also flax crackers are very easy to make. The recipe is in Alissa's book. I play with it alot and add all sorts of veggies. My fav is flax seeds (soaked over night), purple cabbage, frozen corn (cut from the cob and put in freezer overnight), a carrot, cilantro, cumin, chili powder and sea salt. They are delicious!

I love flax crackers, onion bread (addictive) and buckwheat granola (soaked and sprouted buckwheat which is dehydrated with some dried fruits). Fruit leathers are easy and versatile too.
I have a very simple (meaning cheap and not working well) dehydrator and not many other things turned out good - but my Excalibur is on its way and then I am in dehydrating paradise ;)

I just spent a lot of $ on an excalibur because of one recipe that I'm crazy about -- sprouted flax seed crackers w sundried tomatoes, onions, cilantro, & braggs. So now I want more recipes, or variations before I wear this one out! Can anyone help? I've been on the internet for hours without much success -- except for more flaxseed crackers. Aren't there other nutritious, sprouted seed cracker recipes that can be shared? Thanks!!! Mahneecat

Where would I find this recipe for sprouted flax seed crackers that you're crazy about? I'm hoping to try making crackers this weekend, but I'm nervous they won't turn our or something, LOL. :o
I make crackers from Alissa's calzone crust recipe. I just spread the batter really thin on the teflex sheet before dehydrating. They are delicious and easy to make. I also make bread for sandwiches the same way only I spread the batter a little thicker on the teflex.

Cool, thanks JEN, I haven't tried the Calzone recipe yet, maybe I'll try that and one of Alissa's flax cracker recipes tomorrow. :)
