I just had some rawviolies with marinara sauce, (I eat this all the time) and a freind brought over some marinated mushrooms, I ate just about 5 slices of mushrooms, yummy, and then I got this terrible headache,
I asked what she marinated them in , and it was olive oil and Braggs, so this is the first time I have had Braggs in months, and WOW, what a headache I have, also fell asleep, and slept for over an hour.
so, one more reason NOT to use Braggs, in case nayone needed a reason.
it does have naturally occuring MSG's so I stopped using it months ago.
but this is the first headache I've had in such a long time, WOW, I used to have these everyday, YIKES!!!--how did I survive?
OUCH!!!

Golly RP, I had no idea Bragg's vinegar could cause headaches. Thanks for the information. I am eating some of it in a salad (or was) and I'm going to rinse it out before I finish.

aren't bragg's products officially considered NOT raw? Wasn't there a discussion about htis somewhere on the site? jw...maybe it was something else I was thinking.

I'm "guessing" that RP was referring to the Bragg's Liquid Aminos and not the vinegar. FWIW, I no longer consume either of those poisonous substances (my opinion). To each his own, said the farmer to the cow. [ What does that saying mean anyway :) ]
Sorry 'bout your experience RP.

I don't think RP means the Braggs apple cider vinegar, I think her post was refering to the Braggs liquid amino acids, the salty liquid brown stuff.
So sorry RP about your headache, just goes to show how much your body has cleaned up.
Might be safer to ask next time before you try something you haven't made yourself...

Yeah, I've never used bragg's stuff because it just doesn't sound raw or healthy to me. No big deal. If I've never tried it, I won't miss it.

MSG in any form can give me a terrible headache. I've about decided restaurants are a thing of the past for me, it's hard to avoid.

I've seen this at Whole Foods and my friend talked with Patricia Bragg who said this was totally raw, but I have questions about it myself.
It's their new salad dressing.

Quoting from Alissa's book on page 36 under Additional Foods to Enjoy!
Braggs Liquid Aminos (or Nama Shoyu) An unheated non-pasteurized soy product, it tastes like tamari and is used in its place for a salty or soy sauce-like flavor.
I suffer and have ever since I was little from migraines and have never had any problem with Braggs. I guess I'm fortunate. I can sympathize with you however. Lately, the barometric pressure dropping has been sending me to bed with headaches. I'm hoping now that I'm 100% raw, this will go away. That would be an ultimate gift for me!

The product may be raw before it was professionally bottled, but that usually takes a heating process and the stuff is already in the bottle of course, before this sealing process takes place, so in turn, the product gets heated. Not to mention that just because something is raw, doesn't mean it was meant to be eaten by humans or that it is healthy. Braggs is also highly processed, but that is just what I have heard and how I feel about it. If it works for you or others, by all means, enjoy it.

thanks all,
YEP, I meant the Braggs liquid aminos.
many people eat questionable raw things, I know I used to, and then there are people who just don't know about the naturally occuring MSG's, and I've never had this reaction before, LOL
but I wasn't raw as long before when I ate her mushrooms, and they were always so tasty.
but, she felt soooooo bad, and I'm sure the heat didn't help, although we do have air conditioning in our home, I hate to use it unless it is necessary, which it was today, over 100 degrees. YIKES!!!
this just shows me how much I've detoxed so far, well, now I'm feeling better, but I've been trying to drink alot of water, to flush out the MSG's, I'm still tired

Before we just completely trash Bragg's though, let's recognize that not everybody's body responds to the same things in the same way. . . I've never had a problem with Bragg's Liquid Aminos, and I know other people who don't have a problem with it either. I just don't use the stuff because I'm not crazy about the taste.

I've never had a problem with Bragg's Liguid Aminos either, I've tried using it but found I didn't like the taste. If I want a salty flavor I use kelp flakes or celtic salt so my bottle is sitting in the refridgerator not being used.....

I know a lot of people on here don't use Bragg's Liquid Aminos, and I don't neccessarily think it's that healthy either (although I do use the Apple Cider Vinegar a lot), but I just wanted to say something on Paul Bragg's "behalf" since there have been quite a few posts about his products. First of all, I've read all of his books, which I think were very good and very inspiring, especially his book "Miracle of Fasting," and regardless of whether or not some of his ideas and/or products aren't always the healthiest (even though they were thought to be at his time in history).... Paul Bragg died at age 95 from a BODY SURFING ACCIDENT off the coast of Hawaii. If I'm around and healthy enough to go surfing at age 95, that would be spectacular. The guy was obviously doing something right! So, I wouldn't really recommend all the Braggs products, but I just wanted to share my opinion on how much I respect Paul Bragg, his writings, his aspirations in life, and how he in a way "invented" the health food movement in our country. (i.e. we was the first to introduce things like pineapple juice and juicing from fresh fruits/vegetables "known" or popular to our society)
I've seen this at Whole Foods and my friend talked with Patricia Bragg who said this was totally raw, but I have questions about it myself.
It's their new salad dressing.
i've had it and liked it.. i dont eat the aminos, but decided to give the dressing a try when my wife unknowingly bought a bottle..

My understanding from other posts on the site is that Alissa is no longer using Braggs Liquid Aminos.

Alissa no longer uses Braggs liquid aminos, she uses Nama Shoyu that she sells.
I have always had a problem with MSG's even Accent when it came out in the early 70's which is pure MSG, used to cause me challenges.
but I have always loved the taste, that is one way, I know I may have an issue with it, I liked it TOO much, if that makes any sense to you all.

I now buy wheat-free tamari sauce as Nama Shoyu contains wheat.
