Okay, I am pretty straight all the way down! Kinda boyish!

I don't want a big butt, but I want a bigger one and a flat stomach, so how do I get that?

What kind of workouts do I do?

Any idea's?

What does this do?

And where do you find it?

Thank you!

I saw an infomercial a while back and it seemed to do the trick. You know J Lo butt effect. Try googling the title Yoga Booty Ballet.

Anyway Yoga strengthens your core improving your posture and lengthening muscles, that coupled with deliberate exercise to accentuate the gluteus maximus (booty) and ballet to provide overall toning should do the trick.

You could also consider getting on a stairmaster backwards for maybe 3 30min workouts per week.

Of course crunches and abdominal oblique exercise work to tighten those abs and give a washboard finish.

I might be able to give some advice on getting a flatter stomach. When I was in my early 20s, I had "washboard" abs. But as I got older, they just started to disappear. One time a few years ago my wife rubbed my belly and said "Budda" with a smile on her face. I didn't get mad, and laughed with her because I knew it was true.

Since March, I have completely lost my belly, and my washboard abs are coming back! As far as my diet, I was "high raw" until 6 days ago when I began the 30 day challenge of 100% raw food. I do use my rebounder 10 minutes a day, have only done situps 3 or 4 times in the past 4 months. So I do think that it is mostly diet based, because there is no way to see the ab muscles with fat hiding them!

Thank you, though I am not going for J Lo booty! Not that much, just more then I have now!

I know crunchs and pilates do give you great abs, and I am also wondering how do you more like shape them? They give me tone, but how do you make it smaller from the side or narrower from the front?

Thank you for suggesting that Yoga!

Here it is, you can do crunches night and day but you won't have washboard abs or a flat stomach until you lose the fat on stomach that is covering your abs! Diet and exercise go hand in hand.

Some simple exercises can help you increase the size and tone of your glutes and legs. Side leg lifts, glute lifts, plea' squats and rear lunges but the first thing I suggest is getting to a local gym and hop into some body scultping classes, if that is not an option I suggest any DVDs by Cathe Friedrich www.cathe.com choose the lower body workouts, or some oldies but goodies, anything by Tammy Lee Webb she has a DVD called I want those legs and I want those Buns!

Good luck!

This may never happen for you. I've been underweight, normal weight and overweight. I've always had a bit of a tummy there and never had a butt. If I do exercises to build up my butt, it just gets tighter and smaller.

Like, how do you keep the stomach little and tight, but get the booty bigger?

Anybody every done this?

I was born with a big butt, never had a big tummy, until I hit 45 years old.

Most overweight people I know, have a huge tummy, and a flat butt, so I feel really blessed.

I think it is genetic mostly, although exercise will sculpt some muscles, and if that is your wish, then I would go to a gym, and get a personal trainer to help you sculpt the body of your dreams.

You should probably put in some general searches for sites that offer target exercises. Some of the ones that I can think of off the top of my head are things like lunges, seated leg presses, squats, they help shape the legs and the rear. Focus on target muscle groups like quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. I was genetically blessed with a nicely shaped & sized backside (thanks to my dad's side of the family). I am hoping that as I continue my weight loss journey, I don't lose it. I had to accept the "girls" disappearing acts as I now wear a smaller bra size but I really want to my curves to stay put. I don't want to look like a stick; I only want to trim off the fat :D .

As you know the Glute is a Muscle so if you are having a hard time building it to a desired roundness you may have to add some weight. I am not talking light weights, but a good heavy amount.

As with Biceps, abs, quads, calves...some build easy some do not. Most of the women in my family go from a nice shape as young women to flat as they age. So a long time ago I got proactive and strted heavy squats leg presses lunges with 30 pd DB in each hand, cable kickbacks as heavy as I could do them. So now 15 years later I noticed my sisters bums are flattening out and mine is quite round compared to them. I have an Identical twin so it is neat to see how weight training Can make a difference in your shape.

So give it time and use some weights. Now after 18 years I can look at a weight and maintain my butt, so it is much easier now !

RP you have "Sarah" syndrome. LOL We neame it after my older sister. She is a bit on the hefty side but everything she eats goes to her hips, thighs, and bum. She has the tiniest stomach ever. She is also rather short at 5'3. We never find clothes for her because everythign that fits her thighs and bum wont fit her waist. Its the cutest shape though!

I never had a butt untill I started working at home at the computer. Sitting all day can give you a bigger butt lol. Raw has shrunk mine a little but it's still there.
I remember at one time my behind was huge and that was when I was drinking a protein shake everyday and sitting a lot. My butt has a tendency to get big but the rest of me stays the same. I wish I could get some meat on the rest of me too :)

Thank you all!

I shall work my booty until I can grab hard muscle, and then work it some more!

Just wondering, how do you keep the falb off the stomach? But not let the rest of you shrink into nothing? And, does biking help the booty, or just the legs?

Re read my post above.

the women in my mom's side of the family ....5 of us, 4 Aunts and 20 ish female cousins ....most have noticably flatter butts as they age...so my younger sister and I have been weight training the butt for YEARS and we are the two in the family who now have the fit round ones. ( I am 45, she is 40. )

Yes, left on your own genetics will rule but you CAN make a difference with training...

Even people who genetically have no abs and calves can build them more than they would if they did nothing at all. What you cannot change is your bone structure.

So do bikes work your butt?

A deadlift is the exercise in which you have a barbell in front of your feet, you bend down and pick it up and set it back down. Just be sure to use good form. You can find tons of videos of it on the net if you like.

raw did you have a bootay. to begin with?

I am assuming you mean me ?

I was always very thin. When I was 16-21 yrs old I went to stick thin at 101-105 pounds...(I am 5'6.5") then to 115 pds when I started eating again after my college eating disorder years and since I was totally lacking in muscle I decided to start weight training so I could add some muscle shape.

I am now 45, maintain about 127-129...yet still maintain a thin 24" waist so alot of my weight is muscle. My twin weighs 119. We are the same clothing size, so yes I added muscle ! Oh yes I fill out the booty of her jeans more than she does. She complains her jeans are a bit baggy on her butt (she is flatter then me) . :p

I got it

get pregnant

Pregnancy does wonders for the bum

plus you'll get a wonderful baby to and maybe even some larger breast

but yes you will have to work on flattening the tummy back out.

In all seriousness the stairmaster works the bum, as well as running 100m-200m sprints plus jumping hurdles.

Hey all,

Been raw 5 months and my butt has shrunk to practically nothing. There is just nothing there anymore. I guess raw is just not the diet if you want a butt.stairmaster, leg press, rollerblading, cycling

those are the things ive found that seem to work to maintain somewhat of a behind on raw.

my pant size has dropped from a 10 to a 6 on raw...almost entirely due to the deflation of my butt (not that im upset about it at all...). the above helps it stay toned rather than just.."there"

i dont think your butt size has anything to do with THE diet you are on, if you lose weight from any diet its going to shrink if thats where your body loses weight.
My personal trainer is a firm believer in the "butt blaster" noted earlier in this post. It's a ***** to do but he told me it works like a charm.
