Hope it's the right place to post this. Anybody out there regularly go to a raw support meeting that has an idea about an activity? Something to get people comfortable to share and give and receive ideas? Usually our meetings are potlucks and rush-rush-rush because someone is always making something, or several things at the meeting. It's usually some kind of crazed recipe demo going on!

Thought it would be nice to have some kind of organized activity. Maybe something people can write out and share? Not sure...any ideas out there?

Funny you should ask that. I had just emailed Michelle Reeves the same question, and these are her ideas, but this may not be what you are looking for:

how to open a young Thai coconut
how to make nut milk
how to grind flax seed, sesame seed, cacao nibs, etc.
how to use a champion juicer to make juice, sorbets, nut butters
how to use a dehydrator, food processor, blender or vitamix
how to make wheatgrass juice using a flat of wheatgrass and a juicer
how to make a milkshake
show a DVD like Alissa Cohen's Living on Live Foods video
have people give their raw testimonial - how they became raw, what raw has done for them, why they stay on their raw journey
have an "uncook off" - where you say everyone bring their version of "Chocolate Candy" or "Spaghetti Sauce" or "Chili" or "Crackers" and have a contest

We had someone give a talk on rebounding at our last potluck. It was very informative.

Well, after rereading your post, I think you mean activities where people are NOT making recipes, etc. If I think of anything, I'll post it.

Hi Sharon,

Allison and I go to the same Raw Potluck. Besides the gentleman who gave a talk and demo on the Needak Rebounder, we also went around the circle, introduced ourselves and told why we went raw or why we want to go raw (this helps when we mingle afterwards). With this, we also learned that there was another gentleman in our group who works for a company/group that is trying to get the fluoride out of Tennessee's public water. We will probably have him give a talk on this subject. He is also starting a resort/health center, here in Middle Tennessee and is in the process of looking for 700-1000 acres. We also had in our group Serene Allison, who is an author of a raw food recipe book. She is on her 4th pregnancy and this is her 2nd all raw pregnancy. It's amazing what you learn just by going around the circle.

Some other ideas is to show a DVD/Video. Have a guest speaker come in. Paul Nison & Victoria Boutenko are two people who are reasonably priced that you could check with.

We also bring our own raw books and place them on a table. Then others can check them out until the next meeting.
