A few weeks ago I stumbled across something really tasty. My blender was being used to soak something, so I had to improvise for my morning smoothie. I used my food processor, and omited the water....
The ingredients were:
2 cups frozen mixed berries
1 really ripe banana room temp
8 walnuts or pecans
First I ground the nuts with the berries. Did this on high speed before the berries started to melt so that they chopped, rather than becoming slush. Kind of looks like little pebbles when done. Then, I tossed in the banana which "emulsified" the batch. I used a icing spatula to pop it into a container. DELISH! It is sweet from the banana, and chunky from the berries. It is best consumed fresh, as it will melt, although not quickly. I would say it is kinda like a chunky yummy sorbet.
I have made ice cream in my champion, and milkshakes in my blender. But, this really hit the spot, and it was a lot easier to clean than the juicer. (I was making it on my lunch break today, so I didn't have tons of time.) It would be fantastic on a nut torte or raw apple pie too!
It also tastes good if you mix in greens powder. For me, the taste of greens with berry & banana is quite pleasing.
Cassy:)
