My hubby ate all raw today! It all started with him tasting my green smoothie a couple of weeks ago. He crinkled up his nose and glared at me as he put it up to his mouth just waiting for the horrible taste of my new concoction. But then his eyes softened and he smiled as he told me it tasted good. Then I had to show him how to make his own, how to open a coconut and grind the flax seed. He has been drinking these everday for about 1-2 weeks.
Well, now he tells me that he wants to give the whole thing a shot. I made up a big jar of mixed nuts and dried fruit for him to keep in the fridge at work and he has been drinking smoothies for lunch. I made him a big salad with hemp and sunflower seeds for lunch tomorrow (he will only eat romaine lettuce) and he even liked the cilantro dressing I made him.
The big kicker was dinner tonight. I made him pasta from carrot, yellow squash, red onion and zucchini and topped it with Alissa's marinara. I was really worried about this because he hates zucchini. He liked it! He ate the whole thing and was happy about it!!!
You just don't understand my excitement. He hates so many vegetables. When I met him he only ate iceberg lettuce, corn and green beans out of a can! Yuck! I never thought I would see the day that he stopped eating meat much less went raw! This is a huge day for me and I just wanted to share. :D :D :D

Yay, happy days are ahead! :)
Hey, that's really nice! I can really understand your excitement!
When I started this raw journey two months ago after a long period of omnivorous and happy eating, I just minded my own business. Of course, my long time bf knew I was doing this and I didn't want to convert him or anyone else (I know how annoying it can be when people are just plain rigid about their way of eating and try to convert everyone like religious fanatics. I've been one of those fanatics in my teenage vegetarian period. It wasn't nice). I just let him eat his peanut butter sandwiches, his baked potatoes in oil and butter with mayonaise and pork, and drink his coffee and gross sugary energy drinks (okay, he also did eat cooked vegetables and a lot of vegetarian, healthy meals, so in general he ate quite healthy, but he really had this thing for pork and especially the fatty parts and it had become worse lately).
The funny part is however, that he slowly started wanting to taste my fruit smoothies and now when I make one I always have to make him one too. Which is almost everyday. He gave up the gross energy drinks and the chips that he always got after he went swimming, just like that, saying that suddenly they tasted way too salty. He also started eating more fruits (which he usually didn't do before), meal salads and avocados, getting them himself in the supermarket, instead of the pork and baked stuff. And sometimes when I made something he says: hey, that looks good, and then wants to taste some. So now sometimes I make him some raw things too that he loves (bleah, I have to share now ;)).
Also, my sister also started to eat more (raw) fruits and vegetables. She is always asking me about my energy and stuff and is very curious about the whole thing, and I guess she just wants ME to try it first and when a miracle happens in regard to my energy level etc, she might jump in fully too. My boyfriend is also like that. He normally doesn't think about what he eats, he always eats what he likes, but he is open and curious and says that if this thing is going to work for me and he will see drastic differences in my energy level, then he wants some of that too. He literally said: 'If it works, then of course I am going to eat like that myself! Hey, I'm not crazy!'.

That is SO awesome for you and your husbnad!! There is hope then :)
I am hoping that there is hope for my 2 teenage boys! The bright spot is that since changing over to raw and organizing my kitchen and putting TONS of fruit and veggies in it that they are now becoming more prone to grabbing the right stuff before anything else.
Also it seems that the smoothie is one thing that you can lure them to without a lot of fussing.
Anyone else with teens that are having any luck?

Good for you...and him! :D
It's so nice to have someone that close support you. My husband started raw with me, but he still fixed (or bought out) what he wanted for his work lunch hours. Whenever we're home together, he happily eats what I do, but he still indulged in some SAD foods during work time.
He's doing that less frequently now and moving toward a higher raw percentage. It's funny, when Victoria Boutenko first suggested the raw diet, Igor told her that food draws people together and she would pull them apart by eating raw. My husband and I have always been close, and eating raw gives us one more way to be that way. We were never pulled apart when he ate more SAD, but sharing this together is a beautiful thing. :)

Congrats, that's awesome :) I wish I could get my mom to eat more fruits and veggies. She normally lives on a diet of maily Fruit Loops, Cheese (right out of the bag), coca-cola, cottage cheese and italian lemon ices. Right now she's been eating a bunch of canteloupe too, because it's growing in her garden, but normally there's no fruits or veggies in sight other than maybe a banana, or a baked potato with tons of butter. It drives me nuts :)
