Okay, if any of you remember, I finished that extensive fast back in February then mistakingly had a Superbowl bet and losers had to do another week long fast..........
So, Path301 and I lost and did a fast together----almost KILLED each other  :D We enjoyed that madness so much, we're doing it again!
:) Alright Path301 and Friends, we are PREPPING for the fast that will start about a week from now. Friends are welcome to join too !!!!!!!!!!!
Path: I'm going to slowly add softer and softer fruits until I'm eating only fruits and then I plan on doing mostly green juices for the first 7 days since that is the approximation Dr Cousens gives for cleansing the colon What 'bout you???

I want to do a juice/water fast for 7 days, minimum.....I would like to go longer, I guess fear is holding me back. Have ya'll looked at the web-site "freedom you"? He gives ALOT of juice combinations and discusses why we should juice fast. I would love to do a 21 day fast....but I guess I have to check out expenses, and take it week by week. How long are ya'll going for??

I'm interested, but very very scared. What if I get too hungry, what if I major detox sets in and I don't have the energy for my twins, what if, what if, what if....
I really need some advice and someone to hold my hand (if I do this)

no worries peoples! we haven't even started :D I'm not a big fan of how long we should do one as much as how much we connect with our bodies during the fast whether it be an hour, day or week.
This goes for myself and everyone. Let' not even think about how long but what we are going to accomplish. I haven't heard from Path about a starting day so we'll be on standby.........until he pops in.
Debbie, yes, you will get hungry but by the 2nd or 3rd day, you will be fine. I found that fasting with mostly greens and apple as source of "sugar" kept me consistent thru out the day. Why are you scared??? There is no written rule that says you have to do 5,7 or 14 days of fasting. Fasting can be intense but it can also be tolerable.........we are not going to let you run on fear --you will be fine ;)
My Fasting Plan:
Voss Water
Juicing all greens with only apple as sugar
Lemon is okay too but only in mornings
Melons if used, only in morning
Grapefruits are fine.
For Elimination:
Red Clover tea and CALM
This time will be using Enzymes and Dr. Ohhira's Probiotic Plus
To Ease Detox--Especially Day 5:
Deep Breathing Everyday
Dr. Shingha's Mustard Bath
Aromatherapy
Wear all white as much as possible
Skin Brushing
Scalp Stimulation
Bouncing
Sacrum and tailbone massage
Energy Work

I would totally do this, but I can't guarantee it since I will be having surgery this Friday and eat when I'm on pain meds. I want to do a fast before college starts for sure! Good luck ya'll! ^_^

Misslinda, what is the Red Clover Tea and the CALM for? I'm assuming if you have tea during a fast, you can't have honey in it... ;) I'm in. My sister is getting married August 5 and I need to do this for myself....I feel like everything is off balance for ME, because she is a high maintenance person.....The mustard bath and aromatherapy sound great, but....um...can you explain what they are for. I get the arom. but what does mustard do? I also know that baking soda baths help pull out toxins. I would like to know more about aromatherapy and such. I guess I should hit the library. I hope Path won't take too long...somebody call him up!! The excitement is building here!

(((((((((( WENDI ))))))))))) LQQKING @ YOU !!!!!!!!!!! GOOD MORNING WOMAN!x!x!x!x
Red clover is a herb used in Eastern medecine to cleanse the blood (stimulate the colon). It's great for the lymph system. I use the CALM which is a pateneted powder form of magnesium by Dr Giliham that works great the phsycial "push" in eliminating........I really don't want to do an enema this time around.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, what else, the Mustard powder in a detox bath has the powerful ability to stimulate circulation, draw out toxins and has been used for decades as a poultice for respiraotry infections (topcially). I lovemustard seed powder in my soak.
I'm going out to find a special hair brush today. Armoatherapy ---using scents/essential oils to facilitate increased healing, balance and comfort during fasting.........I do it on a regular basis----with foods scents as well.
I never heard about baking soda--I willneed to look into that!
Path, I'm thinking Sunday would be an awesome start--but I am getting excited myself and maybe thinking sooner would be FUN :)

Hey,
Everybody is so excited - wow
I'm looking at starting on monday the 24th. Right now I'm still working on my eating schedule to prepare for that week. I also will need to pick up some of the items that misslinda has spoke about as well.
twinyoga,
Please don't feel that you have to push yourself in order to do a fast. If your not comfortable with doing it yet.
Take your time. For some it can be a day fast or 2 or 3 or 5 day fast - no worries.
Just do what your comfortable with.
For me personaly I'm doing it to clean out some of the junk that I ate when I was in the Bahamas. Because of the hurricanes that went through there a lot of the resturant and resorts and such were destroyed. The food that I can eat here is more easily available. But down there almost everything is shipped in to the island, so I didn't have access to alot of foods.
So long story that's why I'm doing it.

Alright- Who's the new guy????? Is he a rawbie?..........LOL
misslinda
07-19-2006, 07:12 PM
Mrandal, post surgery, many have benefitted from fasting to enhance the healing process. By removing food (digestion), the body can put forth all its attention and energy into healing. Even a few days. By all means, do what you feel is right.
DID EVERYONE HERE THAT???????????
PATH301 ANNOUNCED THAT MONDAY THE 24TH OF JULY IS THE BEGINNING OF THE FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YeeeeeeeHawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ;)
ps ugh no, he is not raw. let's not even go there

07-19-2006, 08:12 PM
(ooooppppssss, posted this in a different fasting thread, I wanted it to go here....)
I'm thinking about this fast and if it's the right time for me. As you can see from a post I just wrote, I'm having some surprising up's and down's all of a sudden. Wish I knew why.
It sure is fun being a part of this group in some way though (even if it's just me considering the fast)
By the way, what do you think of only fruit juices? The thought of green's has been making me feel very woozy lately. But juices like pineapple, orange, and apple sound very good.
misslinda
07-19-2006, 10:33 PM
Debbie, juice what appeals and feels right for you in your body. YOu can always modify your program as often as you would like---no rules.....we'll just no eating :D

07-19-2006, 11:33 PM
I think I will join you in the fast. Water fast it is for me. Unfortunately I did not break my last recent fast properly (yes I knew better but guess I figured it wouldn't happen to me? Had some raw coconut/raw carob for my second small meal) and believe me my digestive system is still up in arms about it many days later......from reading it appears fasting again is best way to fix that! Of course this time I will break it correctly as I had always done previously so I suffer no ill effects! Thanks for letting me join and I must say I might start a wee bit early since my system is messed up! :p
misslinda
07-20-2006, 12:26 AM
TOtally, luvnraw...breaking a fast improperly can have some longer term ill effects---as I have done so in the very first juice fasting I have ever done. Great to have you join us !
Gosh FOlks, I am feeling so anxious and excited! I will have to preplan what juices since work will be a challenge. I figure I can run to the HFS during my lunch hours and do the lemon water in between so for example:
Water
Juice @ home for breakfast
Water
Lemon water ( bring limes and lemons to work)
Water
LUnch time go to HFS for juice and wheatgrass
Water
Lemon water
Hmmmmmmmm, the only days I have to worry about are Sat,Mondays
Sundays- good
Mondays- Challenge
Tuesdays- good
Wednesday- good
Thrusdays- good
Fridays- good
Saturdays- Challenge
I'm anticiapting on doing 14 days of fasting. I'll end with 2 days of water fasting --tues and wed.

IMO, whatever anyone does, if you plan on using a "eliminator" or something to assist in removing out the waste/toxins from the body, do not use SENNA LEAF or any tea containing it! Too many people have gotten ill or had side effects. Again only my opinion. :)
tvillemom
07-20-2006, 01:25 PM
OK...I'm sorry to sound so dense....but where do I find "eliminators"...would that be in the herb section of the HFS? Also, could I get the same effect from doing something as simple as eating a soft fruit once a day (like a banana)? Just wondering. I have read about the toxins staying in your colon while you are fasting.....and then you have to be careful coming off of a fast to get things moving....and remove the toxins. Couldn't I remove them the same time I'm fasting (or is that what an "eliminator" is for?) DUH....sorry, just alittle confused and trying to sort it out before I get started. Also, isn't a juice fast better at keeping things moving, and flushing out the toxins?? I guess I just hate to think of fasting to get rid of toxins, but then, there they are, in my colon...waiting.... I want it all gone!!!

Wendi, eliminators are another way of saying laxatives. I feel that term is so harsh that I use elminiators to draw away from the fear some people may have of any previous experiences.
what you just described in "on and off" fasting with food in between and I find that adding fiber in too fast can be "stunting" to the digestive track. There has been a couple of people here that have included prune juice to aid in a lxative effect but it is soely up to the individual what works best for him or her.
Personally, I am using herbs to invigorated blood flow and aid in lymphatic action to ease the detox experience. I have found taht my own body needs to be drawn of toxins every 6-7 days. Again, depneding on your needs, detox symptoms (headaches, dizzainess, achiness etc) can be intense by which some folks need to draw every morning for the first week or so. I find that too hard for [me] but that is traditional for fasting.
CALM the powder for of magnesium I am using contractws the colon, taste great and is not addicting no senna or some of the other modalities I've used. Plus it's very alkalizing.......
If you have never used these products Wendi, I would start simple, like a soft gently recipe for a home enema. It sdoesn't have gto be done everday---have you used an home enema before?
Herbs are another story, they are concentrated so if you are new to them, you mayt want to not inculde them abruptly since they can have adverse reactions like allergies, too strong etc.
From my past experience with the magnesium, it has been gentle and effective to some individuals here.
LET'S ALL REMEMBER THAT VIGOROUS ACTIVITY AND INTENSE EXERCISING IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FASTING. YOU NEED TO GIVE ALL YOU ENERGY AND POWER TO THE ORGANS IN DETOXIFYING,REPAIRING AND HEALING. THIS IS NOT A WEIGHTLOSS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FASTING AT YOUR DISCRETION.
:)

OK...thanks for the information Misslinda. It was a BIG help. I think I am going to have to put off a long fast until after August 5th. My sister is getting married.....I will however fast for three days beginning on Sunday....and then eat lightly, lots of cleansing fruits and some smoothies throughout the week....after the wedding I plan to get a full 7-14 days in. Thanks for all your help.

AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Path, what is your plan????
I'm undecided how I am going to juice for work! I thought about taking my juicer along and seeing if they will let me juice????
Frozen juices..........then I would need to time how long it takes to thaw out---you know me, I don't like anythiing above room temperture in my belly :)
I don't know about the rest of you BUT it really doesn't matter how long you plan to fast at all. Be more enlightened about your intension and transition out of your fast --- I'm so emotional about feeling that ENLIGHTENMENT--- ya know what I mean Path!!!!?????????!!!!!!??????? I started listening to that music I listen to when I fast and it takes me back to that feeling. I washed myh crystals in sea salt and dried them in the sun so they can work effectively! Invested in some powdered myrhh, sage and chammomile.

Speaking of GUNG HO,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that is a Chinese phrase created by an American Lt in the military inspired by a Chinese Lt of a Communistic party that was greatly admired for his leadership ---meaning work, peace and harmony. it really has no meaning in Chinese language but what was created by an American Lt post WW2 ironically. Interesting to say the least.

Wow, you learn something everyday - 'GUNG HO' trivia.
most likely i'll consume whats left of my salads for the next 2 days and some fruit.
Then what's left like veggies and fruit - I'll whip out the juicer and start jucing them.
The days where I'm out in the field working with clients I'll make some juice that morning and just tote it around in my 20 quart personal cooler.
still need to pick up a bunch or 2 of organic carrots, mangos, grapes, orange - green - red peppers, zucchini, oranges,( I have a bag of fuji apples). Still looking for that tea, that you recommended, have'nt found it yet.

I'm having some licorice tea and chammomile mixed.
how are you drinking this? as cold tea/ suntea?.
And licorice tea? does it taste good? or is it better to mix with other teas to mask the taste?
How do you feel - what work is it doing for you?
If it works that well I'll swing by the HFS today and pick some up-
Any other flavors do you suggest for detoxing and cleansing, helping with BM movements or other body functions??
misslinda
07-22-2006, 09:17 AM
well ya know that infection that I've been healing from the past year, it affects my saliva glands etc so I use the licorice/chammomile to coat my stomach lining since the flu like episode inflammed it and the chammomile is popular to enhance overall body rejuvenation, digestive aid and the licorice does assist in facilitating in bm's but I 've been pretty regualr with morning ones so I wasn't concerned about that. Are your bm's back to regular?
:D
btw, GOOD MORNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my bad......Good morning - Grasshopper. Did you sleep well last night? I dreamed of yellow and white cars...LOL go figure.
This morning, I had my 8 oz of water to get my system activated. Which I think you started this procedure awhile back. I've been doing it all this week - which has been causing my to have atleast 2 to 3 movements in the morning. I'm still not back to par yet. Which is 3 to 4 a day.
So far for breakfast I've had 2 bananas and 2 handfuls of red grapes :D
misslinda
07-22-2006, 09:37 AM

hey better than having no bm's right? i don't think you ever described what you ate while on vacation---was it that bad b/c of selections?

Misslinda,
I just saw your fasting journal page, and this from one of your journals:
CALM
Yogi Fasting Tea
Dr Ohhira's probiotics - Can you give me some more info on this?
Essential oils - which oils are your going to be using?
Colored paper - What's the colored paper for?
Dr Shing'as Mustard Bath - Does this not cause body parts to sting alittle?, Could the same be achieved using epson salt or baking soda?
New skin Brish
Scalp brush
White clothes - this signifies what?, verses biege or light yellow or lavender?
Since I sweat even more while fasting, I will have to get 2 weeks worth of undergarments to change into so I don't have to worry about laundry
Music I have but may get another CD with more native american flute music - This is some sweet music, very relaxing and thought provoking at the same time.
I also like your picture = the upper left corner I fell like I'm back near the ocean again, with the way the light is coming into the picture and the conch shell and starfish. And in the upper right hand corner - you look so natural and playful - your look great ;)
I like how you've made the lavender flow go everywhere.

Colored paper - What's the colored paper for?to reaffirm the organ that is being worked or needing assistance. during the fasting, my color appeal changes and also to stimulate funciton of specific organ
Dr Shing'as Mustard Bath - Does this not cause body parts to sting alittle?, oh yes, using too much mustad poweder like Ihave in the past. that's why this time i'll buy this one cuz I get carried away when I make my own. you could use salts but mustard is very powerful and draws out toxins, aids in circulationand breakdwon mucous in lungsCould the same be achieved using epson salt or baking soda?
White clothes - this signifies what?, verses biege or light yellow or lavender?I see it as a pure color and I don't want to stimulate senses wearing and seeing anything that may trigger the opposite effect. it also is calming and reassuring of my actions and intensions.

You guys are great entertainment and I will appreciate that very much as I fast with you! I will be starting Sunday and think I am as prepared as I get!
I know MissLinda said not to set a time frame but being a planner, well I do have tentative in mind yet am flexible enough for that to change! Path301 do you have any idea how long you will go?
Exercise, neither of you do any at all?? I usually do light cardio (walking outside or if weather does not permit slow walks on my treadmill, bouncing on my trampoline and stretching) I do not do my regular length or vigorous cardio or weight lifting though. I am planning on adding in some restorative yoga poses as well as my infrared sauna this time as well......just curious from you two, is there a reason not to continue with light exercise?
Also for MissLinda, could you share a mustard recipe, light version? I can not find the one you mentioned and it is too late to order for this time. Also you take the probiotics. When I did my first fast with a detox class at a local healthfood store last year, they had us take probiotics but said to empty the powder into the water and not ingest the gelatic capsules during a fast (also to do this with any other supplements if you continue taking them) and I was curious what your thoughts were on this?
It amazes me how energetic MissLinda sounds. I have yet to have a fast where my energy increases. Looking coming forward to joining ya! ;)

Howdy luvnraw,
I got plenty of knots I can tie on to this rope of ours :D
So your a "planner" - cool, but sometimes a fast may take you on a short extended detour of your original plan. No worries though :D
For me I'm shooting for 5 days - which usually means 2 -3 days prep/warm up and 2 - 4 day recovery. Now Misslinda the Marathoner, while always go the long distance
Well she used to be a cardio freak! Me I'll be doing lighter work outs and cardio: Bowflex/ excercise balls/ speed walking/ biking/ swimming = but all these in a lower speed - so as not to pass out. Like I almost did the second time I did 2 week fast.
Yes misslinda will you be doing the honey mustard or the greg poopont or limebased organic mustard bath?

no worries peoples, if you are a planner by all means go for it. I was just sparing the fearful ones.
when I catch my second wind, I do a little cardio but I do NO intense workouts. Need all the energy for healing etc
for me, yoga, stretching, light bouncing, energy work, deep breathing
Myself, I will 14 days at least.........I'm even thinking 21 days maybe.
Luvnraw, so awesome that wyou will fast with us!!!!!!!!!! sorry i spelt it wrong

Path301 - so glad you will be doing some bowflex and cardio. I won't feel so bad then doing mine! I do get the rest/healing but have a hard time sitting still although I am working on it!
MissLinda - you can call me Christi is that is easier then luvnraw :p Or CJ like my friends do or even Chrispy which a few special people call me :D Thanks for the link and all of the information! I always learn so much from your posts! My goal is also 2 weeks although you started earlier (when??) than I did right (since I start Sunday)?
Do either of you get any back pain, guessing at the kidney area? I usually have that pretty intense and use a hot water bottle for some relief but that seems to be the hardest part, well one of the hardest as I never get that increase in energy with fasting as others do!
So how many knots you having to tie for this PAth301? Have a great night all of you!

Good morning Path and Chrispy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh no, I had the stoamch flu on thrus and friday so it was like "early" fasting but I'm going to honor the start date that Path chose which is MOnday---OMG, tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I get the kidney area changes but not as intense as you describe. Wow, hmmmmmmm, before it happens, I would suggest doing some nice deep slow massage around the kidneys especially the tissue inbetween the ribs that surround that kidney zone----including the collar bone too.
Gret, yes, 14 days is my minimum but I will post daily to see if my body screamsw sooner or later.
yOu mean the second wind of energy? Sounds like your kidneys take a great hit so your energy is spend trying to clean those babies out :) :)

Good afternoon everybody,
Don't fret Misslinda,
I still have to pickup some produce and some teas, I've been looking for those huge glass container's to make sun tea, but I have not located any yet by themselves. There are some out there but you have to purchase a wole family set, well being single I don't need it all. So I'm still looking for that.
Does anybody else have things that they still need to get ready ?

I'm joining in.
And I'm scared. Soooooo scared.
Here's the deal, I started eating cooked last Sunday and I thought I had it all under control. Then I wanted rice on Tuesday, then eggs, and though I'm still including lots of fruit each morning, I'm not listening to my intuition at all. I've lost perspective on food, diet, and priorities (which should not be food at the top of my list when I'm raising twins). I'm not saying I know raw is best for me after this fast, I'm saying that I need to rest and re-group.
This fast is more for emotional growth and healing than for physical. This is going to be a roller coaster ride and that's why I'm scared. But as my husband said, you're miserable right now riding this line between cooked and raw; so give your body and mind time to re-group...fast. He's right. I told him I'm miserable fasting and he said "you're already miserable today". :)
So I'm doing it and I'm letting you know that I need lots of TLC.
My plan:
water only for the first 24 hours. i started as of 2 pm today (my last meal). no set end date. it could be 24 hours, it could be days. i'm just going to ride this wave.
no exercise other than light yoga at home. lots of meditation and journaling. i'm going to rest every moment i can. i'm going to sleep and read. my children will hang out with me and we'll stay near home.
i will try to be at this computer every possible moment i can without depriving my kids and home.
Thank you so much.

MissLinda ~ Well hubby wanted me to wait until Monday too since he planned a little outdoor biking surprise for me today and fruit.....so tomorrow it is! I am looking forward to it! ;) I do hope you are feeling better and over the fluish stuff?
Path301 - are you ready, who knows maybe you will go longer then 5 days?
TwinYoga - cool the more the merrier and don't be scared, this will definitely get you in touch with your true desire for fresh flavors of fruits and veggies!
I do want to make 14 days which is my minimum plan (I have gone 12 and 1/2 before) but actually I want to make it 20 and 1/2 (almost 21) and break this fast on my wedding anniversary on August 13th if my body makes it! My mind can usually go further then those kidneys! My hardest thing is the hubby as he is not very supportive!!
Pretty much already started even though it isn't tomorrow! Thanks MissLinda and Path301 for allowing others to join in! I am excited as I have never had any support system before!
Countdown has begun and here we go!! ;)

Does this group fast start at midnight?? I am counting down!!
Path and MissLinda- please ease up on all of the sugary sweet talk though-

Are fruit smoothies considered part of a juice fast?
Or should I juice the strawberries and blueberries I plan to have tomorrow and drink them??

hey luvnraw,
Path301 - are you ready, who knows maybe you will go longer then 5 days?
I would maybe do a longer fast - but I know my next 2 weeks are going to very busy, plus I'm doing some heavy outdoor landscaping work on the side, when I'm not in the office or at business meetings - which concerns me. I told misslinda that last time I tried to do to much and felt like I was going to pass out. It's not a great feeling and it lasted for me all day long, feeling woozing and such
TwinYoga,
hey there just do what you feel comfortable with, don't push yourself if your not up to it. Were all here for ya :)

the sugary sweet talk? pfffft - whatever
Now misslinda may correct me here, but generally you want your body to relax on the digestion part as much as possible so your body can begin to work on doing some healing. So you would be correct on the second part of just juicing your fruits so as to drink the fruit juice and not the pulp along with it. :D
Hey misslinda - where are you at? I'm suprised your not all over the countdown part like mookie here is!

.
Tell hubby he is a genius!!! Dearest Debbie, I'm a thinkin you worry about worrying too. :D sometimes it helps just to fast a meal away and then two meals etc. You are making progress already by making a decision here. There will be plenty of TLC no matter fasting or not. Love who you are at the moment, stay with those current feelings and walk with those feelings to where they are going.............. they want TLC too ;)
Was it Mookie or luvnraw that asked about smoothies????? In traditional fasting, we "abstain" from food. That would entail any and all pulps. However, since there are so many ideas of fasting programs, if you want to ease into a complete fast by having some smoothies adn then wheen off ---that's fine. WE don't want to tell you what to do b/c it's your body and your choices..............but in classic fasting definiton, it would not qualify. Do what is right for you----whatever you decide, you are more than welcome to rid ewith us :)

What is the best way to make my juices portable for work?
I need to find a way to take the juice to work for lunch - I can't always get home for lunch.
I hope it is ok to make a carrot apple juice or green juice in the morning
and shake it up when it is time for lunch.... Does anyone have any better ideas.

MissLinda ~ Thanks for the massaging idea before the kidney pain kicks in. I will work on that! Why the collarbones  Is there something that would help to clean the kidneys out quicker? I am just doing water and herbal suntea, no juices or anything this time around.
Path301 ~ Yes we don't want you woozey or passing out! Five days is good! I have had those times too! My 12 and 1/2 day water fast was during a time I was painting and preparing for a big party for my FIL 70th birthday and woozey is not such a good thing when high on a ladder!!
Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying day 1. I know day 3 will be my most difficult if this fast takes the path of my others! :o

Good afternoon! I just wanted ya'll to know that I'm here and hanging in. I kinda started fasting yesterday....but had frozen banana chips (about 1/2 banana worth) to help with the transition into total juice. Today I've had lots of distilled water (about 30 oz so far) and my juice has been 2 apples, 1/8 lemon (with peel) and about 7 strawberries....YUMMY! I've had a headache all day...but a mild one...like my head feels like it's stuffed with cotton. I've been extremely angry feeling since yesterday aftenoon....I've done yoga this morning, and tried to relax, but I've been angry with the kids....I don't like acting ugly, so I need some insight here. I've also been to the bathroom about 4-5 times....sorry, but ya'll said we discuss it ALL, right? Now I think I already understand the reason for taking an herb to help with elimination. Could my body already be getting rid of toxins, and could this be the reason for the ill mood?? Man, I really want this stuff out. I thought later last week that I would only do about 3 days of fasting, but now I think I really want to listen to my body....and I may go 2-3 weeks! My family is in such a state of stress with my sister getting married that I really feel like this is something that I need to do for ME!
LUVNRAW....my anniversary is August 21st! DH and I have been married for 13 years! We got married on the day that we started dating....and we dated for 6 years....so we've been together for 19 years! I'm only 35....so....do the math. I have thought about ending my fast closer to my anniversary date also!
I guess I'll just take it one day at a time....and remember when I do break my fast it should be SLLLLLLOOOOOW AND EEEAAASSSYY!
I'm so looking forward to feeling that great feeling.
Sorry for the long post, but I've had alot going on, and I'm trying to catch up.
Thanks for the support.
Still feeling fuzzy,

OK...a coulple of questions.
If I can FIND the red clover tea and the CALM at the HFS...are they generally safe for everyone, or someone who might have problems with elimination? I've never had problems before, but fasting without any fiber will probably create a problem right? Can I find these things at a HFS or are there other products?? Do I look in the "loose" herb pharmacy area, or in the boxed tea section?? Thanks.

Wendy,
Glad to see you are here and hanging in! Sorry I do not get on here as much as I would like although hope to be on more to support and for support of the fast! I am not an expert for sure but have read that the moods and symptoms experienced change after you go to the bathroom and get it all out! I use the CALM or at least will be this time. I have tried other things with other fasts but not a fan of invasive or stimulants and want to be gentler to my body this time around.
Ending closer to your anniversary date sounds great! Of course as you said, listening to our bodies there. I am one to push the envelope and know at least this will help me to break the fast slow and gentle and eat wonderfully as I do tend to sometimes give into pressure with eating poorly at times from family and especially my husband who now realizes that will not be happening on our anniversary or I would be very ill! Happy anniversary by then way! Ours on the 13th will be our 18th, I married just before my 18th birthday, met him when I was 15 in church youth group and I will be 36 in September (no kids). I hope you can continue the fasting during these stressful times and fast for YOU! Its great to have others doing it on the boards! You said you are looking forward to that great feeling and I hope you get it! Actually I would love to get it too although I have never gotten that with fasting! I do believe I have alot of toxic buildup! Sorry I can't answer your questions on the tea or probiotics but I am sure MissLinda will! Have a great day! :D

Hi everybody - How it going so far?
I have a few minutes to check in and see what's going on.
For me this morning I had my water and then I had about 8 oz of watermelon juice. I made extra for the business meetings that I had to attend to today.
While I was at my first meeting I also had some orange juice and some water.
And made a couple trips to the bathroom. On the way back to the office I was able to drink my extra watermelon juice that I made in the morning. Pulled it of my cooler shuke it up and it tasted almost as good as when I made it. I've had a slight car sick feeling today and an ear ache. Other than that feeling great.
misslinda - out official cheerleader - great intro for the day :D
petlady - welcome, can you juice anything that your eating today to help give your system a jumpstart?
Mookie -

What I do is make some juice and put it into a 20 oz drinking container and then just stick it in my 20 quart cooler with some of those freezer ice packs.
tvillemom - frozen banana chips spounds so good - what clever idea. I like to wait till they are brown and nasty then pell them and stick them in a ziplock and eat em like ice/ banana cream. O f course I can't do that till sometime next week -

bad breath while fasting? I know with water fasts, once I get into day 3 and my body is switching over to burning fats for fuel that my mouth gets gummy feeling and I have bad breath.....yes I floss and brush, brush with my homemade toothpaste but it still is back shortly after.....before raw I would have chewed gum but now I don't do that.....I will be busy taking my grandpa to the docs Thursday, going to the hospital with my dad for his MRI on Friday and my grandma's birthday party/family reunion on Saturday and don't want to have bad breath as I talk, etc. Any ideas???

Hey ya'll! OR maybe I should say good night ya'll! I've done really good today. Not really hungry, but a headache most of the day. I've also had some moments when I felt extremely tired. I gave myself a mudd mask facial, and then took a nice shower. I've skinned brushed twice today, and also had chamomile tea twice to help with relaxing. I am now out of apples... :o so I will have to maybe have carrot/celery juice in the morning until I can go purchase some more produce! What juice combinations are ya'll using?? Looking forward to tomorrow. I'm going to bed now, looking forward to extra rest. "See" ya'll in the morning.

Path301 ~ Thanks for the lemon juice idea. I have not tried that but will sometime. I have peppermint essential oil but not thinking that can be used without major dilution.
I need to tell all of you that I so wanted to be a part of this fasting group. As I had said yesterday I had started but hubby guilted me and said he had made plans, etc. and I caved by about 5pm knowing I could start with all of you today. Needless to say he worked from home today and kept giving me grief about fasting (he is not suportive of raw either but this was actually worse). It got to the point that he was berating me and putting me down for my food choices with raw as well as my lack of food choicing with fasting. By evening it was an all out arguement that I tried not to participate in as much as possible, trying to stay calm and not stress. He would not let up and it was not pretty.....so after much stress, alot of crying, etc. I am not going to join you in the fast after all. I am sorry, I really wanted to. I will keep cheering you on though and reading wishing I were with you this time around. Hubby says since I just finished one (I cut it short at 5 days) that he will not be upset if I do one at the beginning of the quarter ...... unfortunately as I gave in, I know all too well he was happy for me to eat raw tonight and possibly a few days but I am sure to hear much more than grumbling by the time the weekend is here. :(
In defense of my hubby, he is a good guy and I fully believe that his problem with my doing raw is that it makes him feel guilty for the way he eats. He says he wants to eat healthy and lose weight and did eat raw for 3 weeks but then went crazy on junk afterward and ever since he eaten alot worse then before he did raw for 3 weeks. I do not preach to him about how he eats as he has to make his choices but I will tell you he felt great eating raw, better mood, woke up before his alarm, was exercising, etc. He talks about one day fasting with me and doing raw again (high raw this time he says) but for now he admits he is under stress and junk is comforting.....
Again, I am sorry for joining and not sticking to it but I figured it would be more stressful to my life this time around and that would not be healthy. I will plan to fast with or without him when enough time has passed (October with the new quarter).
Good luck everyone and I hope you all wake up without those dreaded headaches!
misslinda

and I fully believe that his problem with my doing raw is that it makes him feel guilty for the way he eats. He says he wants to eat healthy and lose weight and did eat raw for 3 weeks but then went crazy on junk afterward and ever since he eaten alot worse then before he did raw for 3 weeks.
Good luck everyone and I hope you all wake up without those dreaded headaches!
WOW LUVNRAW, I 'm sorry about all this.......do know that YOU are your own person and ought to do what you feel is in the best interest of YOU otherwise I 'm concerned you will be "pursuing" your eating/health lifestyle walking on eggshells---would he care to join all of us??????? Path could you use another male body around here-------we gave him a hard time on our 30 day challenge in May!!!!!!
You are alwayssssssssssssssss welcome to join us even if for fasting meals here and there. :)

MissLinda ~ Well there are many days I am walking on eggshells with food choices. While the husband is more often as I see him often, I also get the same things with my family and all get togethers as they all think it is unhealthy, ridiculous and extreme. Most were supportive at first thinking it would solve my health issues but when it had not in 5 months then the friendly jibes went to mean digs.....
Oh how I wish he would join in and do it with everyone now! That would be a dream come true for me. We rarely eat the same and currently for weight loss he is doing lowcarb/high protein...couldn't even get him to have some lightly steamed broccoli tonight or a raw cucumber for crunch!
Fasting meal here or there huh? Hmmm, that would be easy enough as I could very easily do fasting meals and then have raw dinner while he has his plate of meat..... :p I guess I figured that would not give a full benefit so why bother? I was thinking that would be more of a not getting enough nutrients but it would give my digestion a break for most of the day!
Do you worry for losing too much weight in 21 days? (with your history and from looking at your pictures you are extremely petite already).
Hope you are able to get those oranges if you are still craving that tomorrow! ;)

I LOVE YOU LUVNRAW !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i WISH YOU NOTHING BUT GREATNESS FOR YOU..........NO MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET THRU, WE SUPPORT YOU. I agree, even if you cannot fast of juices, perhaps do smoothies, partial fasts etc...............every single bitty counts.
Yes! I do have concern about the weightloss, however, I will monitor and wheen off if it should get to be too much, form what I understand, a low point will be met and then the body will not drop anymore weight. I will be posting daily to ensure I am accounted for b :D
So yeah, please do stay with us and "spot fasting" see, you just invented a new fasting program :D

MissLinda ~ Alright I will go with the spot fasting although I am a hard core believer in water fasts ;) I will do what I can and look at it like you said with every little bit counts! I know you are wise and careful, just needed to ask as I wouldn't want you to slide into old routine/habits! Well I am off of here and hope you sleep well and feel better tomorrow! :D

YEAH, THE BEST CLEASNING ONE IS THE WATERMELON WITH THE SEEDS. THE RIND ITSELF IS PACKED WITH MUCH VAITMIS AND MINERALS BUT THE MEAT CUT AND JUICED IS A BEAUTFUL PINK COLOR AND SOOOOOOOOOOO YUMMY AND REFRESHING. I SMEARED SOME OF THE FOAM ON MY FACE AND MADE IT LOOK MORE LIKE A TAN THAT IS SUNKISSED! :p

I am making my lunch right now to take to work.
Green drink! My own concoction. I even juiced the watermelon rind from breakfast.
Yesterday, I did not plan very well, so I was starving by the time I got home.
For dinner I plan to have salsa juice! Tomato, onion, garlic, cilantro, jalepeno.
I had that last night to and it was delish!
How is everyone else doing?

Good morning all. My favorite juice so far is LOTS of spinach with 1 large cucumber, 2 stalks of celery and an apple. YUMMY! I also like 2 tomatoes, 1-2 apples, and a clove of garlic. I got this off a fasting website and it was specifically for candida! ONE juice that I did NOT like was 1 peach with 1/2 of a papaya....it was like sludge.
This morning I am going to have a quick orange juice.....and then water until lunch. I'm taking my kids across town for the free movie! I dread smelling the popcorn, but this is day 3 for me and I'm really not having any hunger pains right now....I hope that doesn't change when I get there! :o
Yes, Misslinda, I did pamper myself yesterday, I was trying to get over that bad mood, and all that extra really did help, I slept well and woke up feeling refreshed! Ya'll have a great day!

MissLinda ~ How is your headache today? Hope you get those oranges today ;)
Wanted to update you on me and what is going on. Hubby came to me this morning and felt bad about his reactions on my fasting. I did mention MissLinda said he could join us and he laughed and says he'll stick to his lowcarb high protein for now. Anyway he said he hates it when I water fast and that if I really want to fast (I do, I do :D ) then he would prefer for me to do a juice fast so I am at elast getting some nutrition in. Of course I am not about to say no to that as yesterday was so hard as I had been gearing up for the fast and ready......so I am back in today (being my day one since I did have dinner last night) I am not that far behind all of you ;) I will work with what I have in the fridge today since I had not planned this. Will work on a list and get to the store tomorrow for more veggies/fruit to juice. I started this morning off with lemon water and not sure what I will do the remainder of the day yet.....
Have a good one everyone. It feels good to be back to join in and not just cheer on!

HOORAY HOORAY !!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, Cousens encourages juice fasting b/c you have more to work with. Juice fasting has the nutirents to cleanse, detoxy and rejuvenate and rebuild with the juices whereas water, you are going to have to rebuild afterwards---that is why he does not recommend water fasting to his clients.
You can dillute your juices if you feel it is too think or make it more watery :)
NO MORE HEADACHES :) :p
I'm posting a general detox stages guidline sheet here in my next post.
misslinda
07-25-2006, 10:42 AM
Next, this is a general outline of detoxification stages while fasting
Detoxification Stages
A single cell within the human body is more complex than the most modern supercomputer. The process of removing a hundred thousand antigens, each with unique molecular properties, from trillions of functioning cells is indeed a complex process. Imagine three trillion cells being repaired during the function of countless biochemical processes needed for life. Even the best mechanics have to turn off the engine. Yet, the body has millions of micro mechanics that do this with ease.
One of the bodys automatic maintenance processes is the destruction of foreign microorganisms. When looking through a dark-field microscope, countless parasites are clearly visible. I observed parasites living inside blood cells. Several could be seen eating cholesterol, and I was amazed to see one swim. Watching lymphocytes moving in the blood was like a science-fiction movie. These complex, lymphocyte organisms attached themselves and engulfed toxins. As they did, their colorations flowed into fascinating patterns leaving me with a sense of wonder and respect for the miraculous ability and infinite complexity of the human body.
Detoxification Stages
Here is an overview of the detoxification stages during a juice fast. The time periods are a general estimation.
Stage 1 (Day 1 To Day 2)
On the first day of fasting, the blood sugar level drops below 70 mg/dl. To restore the blood to the normal glucose level, liver glycogen is converted to glucose and released into the blood. This reserve is enough for half a day. The body then reduces the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The rate of internal chemical activity in resting tissue is lowered to conserve energy. The heart slows and blood pressure is reduced. Glycogen is pulled from the muscle causing some weakness. The first wave of cleansing is usually the worst.
Headaches, dizziness, nausea, bad breath, glazed eyes and a heavily coated tongue are signs of the first stage of cleansing. Hunger can be the most intense in this period unless the enema is used which quickly assists the body into the fasting state by ending digestion in the colon.
Stage 2 (Day 3 To Day 7)
Fats, composed of transformed fatty acids, are broken down to release glycerol from the gliceride molecules and are converted to glucose. The skin may become oily as rancid oils are purged from the body. People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or even a boil. A pallid complexion is also a sign of waste in the blood. Ketones are formed by the incomplete oxidation of fats. It is suspected that the ketones in the blood suppress the appetite by affecting the food-satiety center in the hypothalamus. You may feel hungry for the first few days of the fast. This effect is temporary. The desire to eat will disappear. Lack of hunger may last 40 to 60 days, depending on whether you are on water or juice.
The body embraces the fast and the digestive system is able to take a much-needed rest, focusing all of its energies on cleansing and healing. White blood cell and immune system activity increases. You may feel pain in your lungs. The cleansing organs and the lungs are in the process of being repaired. Periodically, the lymphatic system expels mucoid matter through the nose or throat. The volume excreted of this yellow-colored mucus can be shocking. The sinuses go through periods of being clogged, then will totally clear. The breath is still foul and the tongue coated. Within the intestine, the colon is being repaired and impacted feces on the intestinal wall start to loosen.
Stage 3 (Day 8 to Day 15)
On the latter part of an extended fast, you can experience enhanced energy, clear-mindedness and feel better than you have felt since childhood. On the downside, old injuries may become irritated and painful. This is a result of the body's increased ability to heal during fasting. If you had broken your arm 10 years before, there is scar tissue around the break. At the time of the break, the body's ability to heal was directly related to lifestyle. If you lived on a junk-food diet, the body's natural healing ability was compromised.
During fasting, the body's healing process is at optimum efficiency. As the body scours for dead or damaged tissue, the lymphocytes enter the older, damaged tissue secreting substances to dissolve the damaged cells. These substances irritate the nerves in the surrounding region and cause a reoccurrence of aches from previously injured areas that may have disappeared years earlier. The pain is good as the body is completing the healing process. The muscles may become tight and sore due to toxin irritation. The legs can be the worst affected, as toxins accumulate in the legs. Cankers are common in this stage due to the excessive bacteria in the mouth. Daily gargling with salt and water will prevent or heal cankers.
Stage 4 (Day 16 to Day 30)
The body is completely adapted to the fasting process. There is more energy and clarity of mind. Cleansing periods can be short with many days of feeling good in between. There are days when the tongue is pink and the breath is fresh. The healing work of the organs is being completed. After the detoxification mechanisms have removed the causative agent or render it harmless, the body works at maximum capacity in tissue proliferation to replace damaged tissue. While a short fast will reduce the symptoms, a longer fast can completely heal. Homeostatic balance is at optimum levels. The lymphatic system is clean except for a rare discharge of mucus through the nose or throat. After day 20, the mind is affected. Heightened clarity and emotional balance are felt at this time. Memory and concentration improve.
Stage 5 (Breaking the Fast)
The sticky, toxic, mucoid coating on the intestinal wall is loose, and the first meal frees it from the intestinal wall. Toxins enter the blood through the colon. The gallbladder dumps its waste in a heavy discharge of bile. This can cause an instant bowel movement upon eating followed by intense diarrhea. If the symptoms are too uncomfortable, an enema will help

MissLinda ~ Yes I am sure I will be watering it down ;) Thanks for the reminder for that! I do have one of Cousens books but it has been awhile since I read it! I am hopeful this will give me more energy then my previous fasts, that I am sure will keep hubby happy and I have a busy week ahead of me! Hmmm, now I have to think of a juice to take with me as well as a container for Thurs - Sat. I can hold off Thurs/Fri but Saturday will be a long day and take along will be a must! How much actual juice do you do in a normal day and I see yesterday it was fruit, do you do more fruit then veggie juice? Yay for no more headache! I hope you have a fabulous day! How long are you guys going? I was invited to start fasting here. The only thing is that I feel like such a failure and let down to those I join fasting since I can never make it past 2 days. I'll need A LOT of support and I may be posting here a lot if you all don't mind. I want to do a water fast for a few days and then juice (apple, carrot, and celery diluted with water). Any tips, suggestions, or personal experiences!?
P.S. I am starting after dinner tonight so...I'll say Wednesday is day 1.

LOL! yur cute Dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all, post as much as you like AND we're esxcited to have you!
If you have a hard time getting past 2 days, you'd be better off doing juice fast and then working towards water fast IF you wish. There are so many benenfits to fasting on juices and nautrally as you progress, your body craves less juice and more water.
Everyone is doing a differnet type of fast and duration.
Myself, I am shooting for 21 days and doing mostly melons for now and taiolor towards mostly greens with limited fruits. This may change as my body makes changes as well.
What are your thoughts as far as what you are thinking about doing? how long? smoothies are a great way to transition into juice fasting.

I can't do juice fasts either...it triggers eating for me. I'm an all or nothing person as you know. I think maybe starting the first day on just water it'll get things going. If I can I think I'll do water for 4 or 5 days and then start juice Monday - Thursday. I have self-defense class Monday and we have to beat up the instructors, lol. Tuesday - Thursday I'm starting the REAL self-defense classes with the same instructors, but not counted as a school credit. I'll need some energy for those days. Then I may go back to water for a while until I work again...unless I need the juice or something, I don't know. I'm going to try to go blindly for the first time and listen to my body (but not the craving part!). If I don't want juice then I won't have any and if I need it I will. There I go again, rambling!

Dreamrawalwz ~ So cool you are joining us! I hear you on the all or nothing which is mostly why I wanted to water fast. I also want to detox NOW and figure that helps! The juice will do though as its a compromise between my husband and I so I can participate without him giving me too hard of a time! I have done juice before, all veggie and seemed low on energy then too. I hope you are way in tune with your body and will listen when you do need juice so you are strong and kicking butt in those classes! :D Hehe do I have to give you a *please be careful* too with your history?? I only say it out of love to you and MissLinda and only because I have the same history that continually rears its head if I am not all raw! I am hoping to go 20 and 1/2 days (break it on our anniversary so won't fully get the full 21 days in since today was day one again!) Every little bit counts though and I know you will listen to your body! Oops, now look who's rambling!
Mookie ~ Wonder whats up with the walnut watermelon  Hope you totally enjoy your organic one that you bought in secret today!! Cool, you taking care of you ;)
I have had my lemon water, did my cardio, sauna and stretching and just finished an odd combo (trying to use up what I know hubby won't eat and will spoil) of green bean, cabbage, cucumber, lettuce, tomato juice.....not bad but then again I am not a big juice drinker and trying to stay away from the sweet stuff.....wondering if it would start the cravings? MissLinda, your article talks about fat burning, etc. Do you still enter fat burning with diluted fruit juices? Trying to weigh the balances of which juicer cleanse/detox more versus which allow you to lose more but still not deplete in energy?
Hope everyone is going strong!! :) Now go juice something will ya? :D

Wendi ~ Oops, not sure if you were asking me about the watermelon or someone else.....if I do it I might try to have that the entire day but actually I might just wait and break my fast with watermelon.....I am sure one of the others who have juiced watermelon before can help with your other questions!

I'm just finishing up my first day. I did all fruit juice since I really can't stand veggie juice (unless mixed with a lot of fruit) and don't want to put myself off of the fast.
I had:
Mixed juice for breakfast at work. Basically, all of the fruit that was in danger of going bad a few days ago juiced and frozen into ice cube trays for work. Not too bad. Really tart but not bad.
Cranberry/watermelon/green grape - Really not my thing :(
Watermelon/cherry/blueberry - I don't know what it is about watermelon juice. I LOVE watermelon but the juice makes everything taste incredible sour. :(
Apricots/pear/red grapes - Finally a yummy one! This is the Apricot Ambrosia recipe if anyone has the Juiceman book.

Hey everyone, is there something I can do naturally to stop either an allergic reaction or retracing before it gets worse? I started water fasting yesterday but broke it at dinner with raw food and started day one of juice fast today. Have had lemon/water this morning and then about 5pm had a mix of celery, tomato, lettuce, green beans, cabbage juice. A few minutes ago (9pm here) I started feeling hot at my ears and face, kept doing stuff then felt it on my arms......checked in the mirror and sure enough like my past reactions my entire body by now is creeping up with what looks like a major sunburn, its hot and I am swelling with skin getting tight.....I have had prior reactions like this to CT scan dye (NOT iodine based), as well as to nuts, latex, etc. As of yet this one has not effected my breathing but in the past it has and I have had to use epi-pen to keep my airway open......not sure if this is a detox or retracing or what. I am trying to ride it out and hope it stops by iteself before the shivering chills kick in......I am hopeful its retracing as I have had these things today before and never a reaction...... Anyway is there something natural that would alleviate without having to deal with it later on in a fast?

Have you been entirely raw before today??????????

MissLinda ~ Well I did have a cooked cheat a few weeks ago but other then that yes I have been raw.....you should see me, all except one patch on my left thigh and one patch on my tummy is red like a lobster......I look totally sunburnt and ready to blister :( I think the chills are starting though so that should mean it won't effect my airway if its like past reactions to allergen exposures! Hope the hotness in your ears go away too!

07-25-2006, 09:34 PM
Well whatever it was/is, after 90m minutes I am feeling less hot and have the shivers, the redness is less now, I am still swollen with the skin being taught and now the itchiness al over the body is here......at least I am on the mend, and know its not closing my airway this time, (just had it burning for awhile) without meds! I can't help but wonder if fasting combined with the infrared sauna is making me detox quicker and/or more intense? Goodnight everyone... ;) Here is to my day 2 and your day 3 tomorrow :D

Yawn...thought I check in before going to bed.
My day today was alot better:
Had the last of watermelon for breakfast. then some peanut milk for snack.
Orange juice for lunch.Carrot juice for dinner and 2 20 oz glasses of lemon water. Iwas busy all day so was focused on goals and not on lack of food.
luvnraw and misslinda - your both were getting hot spells? form of detox?

Good morning ya'll! I'm on day 4. I woke up really early (6am) which is early for me staying at home with no alarm clock. My joints are sore and it seems like every joint is popping. I guess this could be some kind of detox. I have been doing alittle yoga, which I'm not used to, but I feel really sore around my shoulder area. I am craving watermelon juice today, but no watermelon, I guess I'll wait till tomorrow to buy some. When I juice it, can I juice the whole thing (the juicy part and the rine?) and what's the difference?
This has been a real eye opening experience for me. I may not continue my fast much beyond day 5....I'm just not sure what to do. My sister's wedding is coming up. Part of me wants to continue, but I know there will be luncheons and things I have to attend, and staying raw will be easier now that I've fasted, but staying on a fast may be impossible, so I would rather break the fast now and not make myself sick by breaking it suddenly and the wrong way! I really want to do a longer fast right after her wedding.
Everyone seems to be doing so well. I would love to hear more juice combinations!!
PETLADY: It would be my understanding that you should only juice melons by themselves...since you only eat melon alone (if you follow food combining) Melon doesn't combine well with any food.
Ya'll have a great day.
Peace to all.

I've tried it with other fruits aswell as alone. It always tastes sour and disgusting. The same thing happens with apples. No mater what type of apple, organic or not, no matter how fresh.... the juice tastes absolutely terrible.

OK...sorry to double post but I wanted to share my breakfast juice. I bought one of those small sprite melons last week. I've never eaten one, let alone juice it. I juiced the whole thing this morning, except for the seeds which I scooped out....it was really yummy. My question is...I bet I should've juiced the seeds too??? Ya'll let me know.

I do have questions! Forgot to add that.
What is everyone hoping to heal or gain from this fast mentally, physically, and or spiritually?
What do you use for toothpaste, shampoo, soap, ect. while on a fast? To me using even organic products seems...can't think of the word, like it'll cancel part of the detoxing out.
Is anyone using a skin brush?
I had more questions but I can't think of them at the moment.

What is everyone hoping to heal or gain from this fast mentally, physically, and or spiritually?
Physically, I'm hoping to lose quite a few pounds and improve my body overall. I'd like to improve my health and generally "feel" better. I've been feeling rundown and basically icky for a while in a way that isn't quite a physical problem. More of my body telling me that something needs to be done.
What do you use for toothpaste, shampoo, soap, ect. while on a fast? To me using even organic products seems...can't think of the word, like it'll cancel part of the detoxing out.
I'm using my normal products which are an organic shampoo with chamomile and sage, and an olive oil-based soap from Kiss My Face. I don't use any hair styling products or makeup, but I never use those anyway.
Toothpaste... I'm using Tom's of Maine but currently have the flouride one which I hate to use. I had to send someone else to the store for me last time and they bought the wrong one. I hate to waste it. I'll be going back to the non-flouride after this.
I'll be doing at least half an hour of exercise each day to get some sweat going. I'm also planning to do some epsom salt foot soaks for more detoxing if I can find the time.

I want to heal from this skin infection I've had for over a year along with the saliva glands that play a parallel role.

Tap into my repressed "psychic" self
I want those carmel color eyes---hoping that my eye color will lighten more!!!!!!
I dont' use any toothpaste but I brush and rinse. Especially the good ole tongue crap.
As far as shampoo goes, I use lemon juice/oil in the scalp but then do wash with shampoo (I honey works great but never tried it)
Mel123???? I have practiced mindfulness meditation under the teachings of JOn Kabat Zinn. I was curious...........
Why do you feel you compulsively eat?
What will happen if you don't compulsively eat?
The inner angst that surfaces before you take the first bite, where do think it stems from? What emotion is it---sadness,anger,loneliness???
Why do you want to free of it?
Why do you do it to yourself?
..............just thought some questions could help unravel the beauty of your mystery. Stay with us and chat. ;)

wanted to add mel123, it's not a cure, rather a tool to assist us in observing adn accepting the reality ourselves. We can't move forawrd unless we are willing to accept who we are now. That's very difficult to do but with every effort in doing so, you will find yourself moving forward.
Fasting also inspires us to seek ourselves within............again, another emotional/metnal enterprise we ride but not a cure. We are the cure ;)

Path301 ~ Glad yesterday was a better day for you! You sound tired! Hope that today you have lots of energy!!
Tvillemom - Only you know when you should break the fast. I must agree though, break it right.....from someone who broke one wrong (raw but fats) believe me you will pay for it for awhile (over a week in my case). Just stay raw and yay for completing 5 days!! You can do a longer one when the timing is better! I know as I look as my social things coming up it will be an issue but more from family giving me grief (you'd think I'd be used to it by now).
MissLinda ~ Watermelon excretes through your skin as in you smell it or you just sweat more? Hehe I wonder what I will smell like.... on my first fast going from SAD to a detox class doing 1 week vegan, 1 week raw then 1 week veggie juice, by day 4 of juice I smelled like french fries....the next one I smelled like a tanning bed smell you get afterward and my last fast I smelled like onions (made me wonder if I shouldn't have them even raw?)....so this will be interesting! Interesting questions fro Mel123, some that will make me question too. Hope you have an awesome day today!
Petlady ~ Hope you find more juice combo's that work better for your tastes!
Mel123 ~ Just pick back up and start over today! Look outside it is a new and beautiful bright day with lots of potential! I hear you on the compulsive over eating as I tend to do that after a prolonged period of stress where its chronic without end in sight? It was more often before raw and I still fall off the wagon here and there.....hope you can fast and find the answers as to what it is you are pushing down emotion wise with food.....I am a work in progress with that.....if I am mindful and wanting to eat and sit down and have quiet time and examine myself, why do I want to eat, am I hungry or frustrated, what is bugging me? If I am honest with myself and admit what it is I don't want to deal with then I give in less to the food. Food is comfort but you have to figure out why it is you feel you need comfort and dig deep within to solve that......now I still have to dig deep as I have since turned more to exercise as my avoidance but it is still avoidance that needs to be dealt with (at least in my case). Havea terrific day and start new with you absolute favorite juice today!!
Honeybee joy ~ Yay for day 1, look forward to the details!!
Dreamrawalwz ~ Yeah those headaches can be killer! Hope its gone by now! Hmmm answers to your questions. Yes I am skin brushing once per day. I am also doing infrared sauna 1-2 times per day. I use castille peppermint soap for body & hair and well toothpaste is a mix of my own with baking soda, raw coconut oil and essential peppermint oil with tongue brushing. I also brush with water 2 times per day. What do I want to gain from this? Mentally I want to clear my mind of desires/cravings for SAD food as I had a slipup a few weeks back and while haven't caved since then I think about it alot and was debating 100% versus high raw (family pressure and my cravings) when I know 100% is best and this will clean my palate for craving what my body needs. Spiritually I am hoping to deepen my relationship with God as I seem to get busy and but that on the backburner too often. When I fast I am able to just talk to Him and focus more on doing it as I get my sun and sauna for the day as well as when I would be fixing & cleaning up making food! Physically, well the list could go on and on :o I would like to lose a few pounds that I put on with my SAD slipup but more importantly then that I have many physical muscle problems that cause me pain everyday and other things no one has figured out and I am hoping for healing of these things as well as detox from years of medicines as I was a sickly baby and have only had a few healthy years in life! :D What about you?
If I forgot anyone, I apologize and I hope everyone has a fabulous fasting day no matter what day you are on or how long you intend to go! ;)
What is everyone hoping to heal or gain from this fast mentally, physically, and or spiritually?

Is it a good idea to use a sauna while I am doing the juice fast?

Mookie ~ Well I am not an expert on it and my guess is the Y would have a different type of sauna but it would still make you sweat and to me sweating out the toxins are great as long as you go shower right after! I have read it can make for intense detox while fasting  Stay safe!!

Keep in mind that while fasting, detosx is concentrate and accelerated so using a sauna can offer assistance in excreting those toxins. Be hydrated
( h2o)before you use the sauna. Perhaps use it in increments like 10 minutes then see how you tolerate it and build up............when you use it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sit in a lotus position and chant "Oommmmmmmmmmm." :p ;)

Well.....I've broken my fast. I had a frozen banana. That's all I'll say so I don't tempt anyone. I think I was scared of letting myself get too far into detox with the weekend coming and wedding stuff to attend to. :( I'm going to juice for dinner!! I may juice tomorrow, but I'll wait and see. I think I've also grown tired of cleaning my juicer!! :o That is hard to admit, it makes me seem lazy huh?? Are all juicers difficult and time consuming to clean. I was thinking of getting the Omega 8005 next. Right now I have a Juiceman Jr. My friend purchased it at a yardsale for about $2! So I've used it and it's been great....but I think if fasting and juicing is something I'm going to do alot of......it's about time to upgrade! ANY opinions???

Tvillemom ~ Don't be sad that you broke your fast. You did great and as MissLinda says, every itty bitty helps! You are still eating yummy, healthy raw foods to help your body! Doesn't get better then that! I have the Champion Juicer. Bought it many years ago before I heard of raw. I like it although I think it can be a little pain to put together. I am thinking maybe I ran it the plate through the dishwasher and it changed the shape so it doesn't fit as well as it once did? Over all I like it. Even though I have a vitamix to do raw icecream I had to try the champion since people use it for that too! Nice to be able to make juice, applesauce, icecream, etc. all from one product! Go search juicer with the banana and you are sure to get lots of differing opinions! Ebay has some great deals if you don't mind used (well they have new too). Enjoy your evening ;)

Grr, see, waht did I tell you? I couldn't make it. I did 24 hours and broke it on a bunch of stuff (all raw of course), but the headache is STILL there, and I feel like I did after I binged on cooked food...tired and crappy! I'm going to just pick myself up and start over...help?
As for me I use the same type of products. I use the olive oil based soap by Kiss my Face, a skin brush, and I was using this natural organic shampoo/conditioner, but I think during the fast I'm going to try baking soda and lemon juice. I use Tom's organic toothpaste as well, but i think I'll switch to baking soda.

thanks. It just seems like this stupid cycle...I go 24 hours and then binge whenver I try to fast. I thought these cravings for food would go away when I was raw, but apparently not. As I mentioned in another post..it's not the food I'm craving, it feels like the chemicals that I'm craving. Unfortunately it's my "drug" of choice? It's scary to let that go, but I have to work through it. I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I have to be honest here...when I get to that 24 hour mark or around there without food it's like I'm having withdrawls from drugs. I start rocking back and forth and want to cry if I don't get that dose of chemcials. That's how bad it is for me I guess. I need more support to get through this detox of chemicals, more support at home I mean.
I also think it's the wanting to chew that defeats me. To help that I used to do ice, but for other reasons...but instead I filled up popcicle molds with fresh orange juice so I can munch on that if i really need to...do you think that still counts as a fast?
luvnraw
07-26-2006, 05:18 PM
Dreamrawalwaz ~ Sorry that you are going through that! I understand the withdrawal from food but can't say in my case its the chemicals. I do not do the rocking but my obsessiveness gets out of control for day one and I am moody and highly agitated by dinner time.....day 2 is easier but then for me day 3 is the absolute worst and I feel like I can't take it.....for me it gets better after that and I hope it will be easier for you too one day. I think the frozen juice is a great idea and I woulds consider that the same as juice fast. ;)

Same with me partially. When I get that growling feeling of hallowness I can't help but smile and that kinda scares me. That feeling really comforts me, but I think somewhere in the back of my mind I'm afraid it'll slip into the anorexia again where I loved that hunger feeling.

Dreamrawalwz ~ Yeah one reason I worry about you and the fasting, I so don't want you to slip back there. There is nothing wrong with eating all raw you know and not fasting! I know a small part of my husband not liking my fasting is he is afraid of that hold on me as well. Seems the only thing that keeps me out of ed thoughts and behaviors is raw foods, one slip of SAD, if I don't break out within a day or 2 and I am right back where I was......guess its from many years (started at 10 or 11 and will be 36 in September). I am so thankful for raw though as there have been times I have eaten too much when stressed its so different then the cycle of ed and I feel more at peace and satisfied and not obsessed with food or lack of it.....Hope you feel better soon and remember to LOVE yourself ok? :p

Hey. I'm still here. But not fasting. I'm just not ready for it mentally. But I'm sure my digestive system is ready for it.
I've been trying Microbiotic cooked foods all week. Brown rice, miso soup, steamed veggies, etc. And all I feel is constipated! I must have brown rice up to my belly button. Seriously, my stomach is so hard and extended. I can feel the build up. So, tonight I had miso soup, a salad (raw!) and a little bit of brown rice. I want something to eliminate the waste in me. I don't think an enema would do the trick this time. I need something to push this stuff through and out of me. Any suggestions? I thought maybe Miss Linda would know. :)
I suppose this is party of the raw journey.
Thanks for everything.

TwinYoga ~ I was wondering about you! Glad to hear you are still here and posting you know? Yep you most certainly need to be ready for a fast mentally too! Well in my opinion ;) You can take CALM a magnesium based powder to help you go. I know for me I have always had to use products for that until I found raw but when I do fall back to SAD unless I am eating mostly veggies even cooked I still have that problem! Wish I could help you figure out what to do and which way to go.....I seem to struggle with it right now too which is part of why I am fasting to try to clear my head to figure out if 100% raw or High raw from a book I have been reading is what I should do. Feel better and I hope you go soon :o

Just something I'm going to post and I have no idea if anyone knows anything about it:
I have this stupid pain and it won't go away! I woke up with a feeling that's just annoying, but not painful. Its my left lower abdomen (decending colon I believe) and shoots all the way down to my mid thigh. It's getting worse and is really uncomfortable. No clue what it is. Not a sharp stabbing pain, but it's going in that direction. :(
No it's not constipation. I've NEVER had that problem so I have no idea waht it is. This may be TMI, but when I go there are A LOT of black "pebbles" so I don't know if that is connected or not...

It got me thinking when you made that statement about "chewing" I have to wonder if chewing offers us a "distraction" b/c if we stopped, we'd be left with ourselves to talk to.............also food/eating is seen as a time of "relaxation" and fulfilling the senses --ironically. I want to take it step further and share that in Eastern medicine, food when entering the stomach, taps towards the differnet sections of the body that stimulate the organs that have associations to emotions/feeling...........so I wonder if food offers that intuitive desire and grudging act to master it.
Honeybee, good deal...........sounds like you are doing awesome.YOur new jouranl pic looks breathtaking.......beautiful pic in such a natural look! :)

Hey everybody,
Sorry that I'm checking in so late I just got home about 30 minutes ago, from a late night business meeting.
Today went pretty good for me:
8oz glass of water.
B - 2 cups of grape juice and 3 fuji apples.
L - 20 oz of sweet onions, zucchini,2 tomatoes,1 greenpepper,organic carrots,couple organic celery stalks.
Dinner - orange melon/musk melon.
12 oz of lemon water.
What do I expect to achieve by doing this fast:
#1 - clean out my system from eating some bad stuff while in the Bahamas
#2 - set my system for a new excercise and building muscle regemine.

I'm on day three now :)
Day two went pretty well. I had more cravings than I thought I would, but nothing that really made me go, "I have to eat now!!!" I started detoxing about halfway through the day with a bad headache that only got worse if I happened to crouch or bend down. Not a good thing when gardening is on the agenda. I took two doses of detox liquid from Newton's Homeopathics which helped a little. Exercised for an hour, which helped more. Then ended the day with a small enema which got rid of the last of the headache. Finally!
Juicing of the day:
Strawberry/Pineapple - Oh, my..... Yummy!!! I thought it would be too sweet or not taste right since I normally don't like pineapple but it was delicious.
Grapefruit/orange/grape - Not bad but not great
Pineapple/strawberry/beet - I know fruit and veggies aren't supposed to be mixed but I really wanted to include a beet for more detoxing. Very yummy.

Good morning all! I just want ya'll to know that I've deleted a whole post! I sat here and typed out alot of emotional stuff I was feeling. I'll give you the short version. Reading the stuff that dreamrawalwz and luvnraw wrote about anorexia....it brought out some deep surpressed thoughts I've been having this week. I was what I'd call borderline anorexic....I went for years...from about the age of 11 until early college...surviving on hunger pains and 1/2 of a meal a day. I was never rail thin, so people didn't notice...I'm short so I guess that's why, my metabolism adjusted to that small meal a day. So I'm wondering now, knowing that anor. is a CONTROL issue disease, am I fasting to have SOME control over my sisters wedding, of which I have NO control?? Right now I feel like my life is in a tailspin, because of her.....She's asked me to set aside DAYS before the wedding to help her get ready (even though she has to work). I HAVE 3 KIDS AND A HUBBY TO TAKE CARE OF!!! She has no idea, and really I don't think she is thinking of anyone BUT herself!! Ok...I'm done venting.....I want to continue the fast, but now I'm afraid I'm doing it for the wrong reasons, and I certainly don't want to let fasting become something it shouldn't be!! Thanks for hearing me! I love ya'll....I'm back on juice for the day, praying about it all......

dreamrawalwz...i would get myself going more...however you do it...i think misslinda recommends mag powder...does that need to be balanced with calcium??? once you have a good bm....post back to see if the pain has lessened...sorry for those of you who dont like bm talk..i am a medical professional so it doesn't bother me at all...and i think that releasing toxins is an essential part of taking good care of our body....i did some light eating yesterday...much less than usual...did a lot of praying and crying as well...that always helps me feel better...emotional cathatrsis...i have decided to focus my fast on communion with god, the universe, jesus, conscious contact, whatever you call it...i have been blessed many times in my life to experience the presence of god as tangible as another person sitting with me...i know how to access that...and i think fasting is a great time to be in that state of consciousness....dwelling in the connection with god, and with my self, my true self....so i will be doing a lot of praying and meiditating, reading scripture and material that inspires me...also doing a lot of peer counseling to release my emotions freely...affirmations and visualizations to manifest my best life....i will continue on the fast today...depending on how i feel tonight i may have a salad....

Mel...what you said was just beautiful. I have felt myself on the verge of tears all week. I've done alot of praying, and will continue, just as I posted above about the anorexia issue. I KNOW I'm not anorexic, but fasting brings on the "feeling" of starvation.....and all those emotions have surfaced. I am going to continue my fast....and looking for those herbs to help with elimination so I can continue to detox. Thanks for all the support here.

Hello everyone. My sleep was peaceful last night. I am kinda depressed this morning. I am sure it will pass. Last nite I woke up a time or two and notice my heart was beating really fast. This happend before the first day or two when I fasted, and then it stopped. This negativity and fear is oozing out of me this morning. I almost feel like I am going to fall apart. It has been a long time since I have felt this way. I am going to try to get a infrared sauna today. I would talk more, but this emotions are overwhelming me. I will be back later.

WOWSERS peoples! I see alot of us have been twirling with emotions......mine started yesterday too with a trigger when I was out shopping with sister. I kid you not when I say we saw a gal who was about 5'7 and weighing 70 lbs no more than that. Me too ,like some of you are saying, while fasting, in the right "conditions" the ED emotions start flying.
Anyway, i'm getting ready to head to work and will read everyone's posts wehni get back. It's exciting b/c we're all at least discussing those knotted up emotions that keep us from being the BEST in our life!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAVE A GREAT DAY B/C YOU ARE GREAT....................... :)

Honeybee joy ~ So glad day 1 was awesome for you! I hope that you can get those emotions out and feel better soon.
MissLinda ~ Great idea to order a pizza for Path to get him to go longer in the fast ;) Glad you woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed! Sorry for the trigger yesterday! Its been weird admitting about my ed on this board as I have never done that before. I do hope it helps get some of the bad emotions out yet I do not want to trigger anyone or make them deal with something they are not ready for? Hope you have a great day at work!
Path301 ~ Glad you are ok, I wondered when you didn't post last night when it was late. Of course I have to remember we are all on different time zones too! I have to agree with MissLinda on that lunch juice, was it good?? When you were in the bahamas did you eat junk or cooked? What percent and how did it make you feel? I read all of your journal but its not in there??
Dreamrawalwz ~ Are you feeling better today? Is the pain still there? I would pick up some CALM from the HFS as pebbles to me sounds constipated.....
Petlady ~ Hey cool being on day 3 today.....we are on the same day since I ended up having a dinner (bing cherries) on Monday so it didn't count as a fasting day! Beet added into the strawberry pineapple was good? Hmm I might have to try that because beet in just veggie juice is overwhelming! I did that on my first veggie juice fast and by day 3 I was throwing it up.....still not sure I am ready for beets and its been over a year
Tvillemom ~ Sorry about the deleted post! I hate it when that happens and it always does with very long and emotional ones! I am sorry your sister is expecting so much. Family can really take it out of giving people. I am sorry about your past with anorexia. I can relate to the control issues and wish I had the answers for you but only you can know why you are fasting.....it is control, is it to feel better to be able to handle the stress of the wedding better? So many things and yes you want to do it for you and for the right reasons! I will be praying for you too and feel free to vent anytime! Journalling is great. Sometimes I journal my thoughts and prayers to God and that helps me with dealing with things too!
Mel123 ~ Awesome that you are doing this as a fasting communion with God. I too am devoting much of my day to prayer and scripture with Him. It is what He desires and what I need!
Mookie ~ How are you doing today??
Today is day 3 for me and that is usually my worst day mood/irritability but I am focusing more on positive today to try to combat that! Hope everyone has an awesome day! :p

luvnraw - nope, not constipation, trust me! lol. It's a little better today. It's going up and down, but now it feels like there's a lump in there and it's not radiating down my leg anymore.

Ew. I don't blame you a bit for avoiding it then!
I couldn't taste the beet at all. I did 10 strawberries (some were really big), one round of pineapple that was about 1 1/2" thick complete with core but no skin, and one medium beet. It made about 15oz of juice. I drank that right after my workout and it was great. I think I'm going to reserve my one beet a day for after workouts.

Work and life pretty much take care of sleep for me ;) I work during the day, come home and take care of the pets non-stop until it's past dark, then come on the computer for a few hours. By that time, I usually wind up with 3-5 hours of sleep per night.
If you find yourself consistantly waking up, maybe you could try some meditation. You might not be able to fall back asleep but it would still give your mind the rest it needs. I've read about some people not being able to sleep during a fast because of all the energy freed up by eliminating digestion.

Mel123 ~ Sorry I can't help you on the sleep thing. I never have energy with fasting and need alot of sleep! :o I always hope with the next one I will get the energy like my sister does by day 4
Petlady ~ Well since you couldn't taste the beet I may have to try that since you gave me measurements....thanks! I know its good for you! I head to the store tomorrow and might add that to my list! I bet that made a beautiful colored juice :)

Wanting to know if anyone else has experience this?
Has anyone ever had it during a fast, where a body part starts to get sore, or some uncomfortable detox symptom, and then they cry, because of emotional feelings, and then afterwards the detox xymptom goes away.
Once before I had a acidy stomach, then I cried, and it went away.
Today, my liver felt swolen and sore, then I cried, and it went away. I find it to be odd, but neat. I knew a good cry was coming on, suprized it hadn't sooner, but it did, and I am feeling better.
Weird huh?

Hmm, I don't think I can count and set my goals so large. That causes me to get discouraged and I think slip up. I usually count every hour, but that's getting overwhelming as well. I'm going to set smaller goals and reach up to them. I'd still like to be able to get on this thread for support though if you all don't mind?
I'm going to set it for 3 days. Friday - Sunday. I guess 3.5. I don't know if this is an excuse or just situation or both. A friend of mine has an ED/depression and she's going IP in about 2 weeks. We wanted to hang out before that time and Monday is the only day we both can. We're taking a mini road trip up to MD so she can get her emission test done. She suggested we stop at "Conscious (sp?) corner" it has only organic shops and restraunts. She said maybe we could stop there and have lunch and look around. I don't think I should say "no " to this because 1) it may trigger her, and 2) she knows of my ED and how I'm not doing so well with it so she'll see it as an ED action. I looked at the menu for the restraunt (going to offer raw entrees also as new items!) and I can do their garden salad and fresh fruit cup. Would that be ok to break a 3.5 day water fast with?

Hey where is everyone? Tomorrow is day one for me. This is embarassing to say, but I had my mom hide all the credit cards (i tend to get food to binge on while i'm home alone :( as an "haha i can do it and get away with it...") and she'll keep my keys until I need them. She says I need to fast too because of what my body's doing. She's supporting me 100% on this and will do anything to help me. I have A LOT of homework to do so that will keep me busy. I can just feel the emotional hurdle I'll have to jump over and it scares me to death. I NEED to be ready to do this. Are there things you guys do to mentally prepare for a fast and during a fast?
I'm going to do:
just water - a lot of it!
skin brush 2-3x a day
epson salt baths daily (is this a good idea?)
stretches and yoga
walk a few miles a day
I'll appologize in advance if I post 100x on this thing over the weekend.

Dreamrawalz ~ Darn it I had typed out this long post and hit the wrong thing and its gone......you said your friend knows you are not doing well with your ED and it makes me worry that fasting is not what you should do.....I mean fasting can get you back into restriction or binge after the fast :( I know you said your mom is supportive of the fast and you feel you need it but just dig deep and see if fasting is what is truly what is best for your mind, what is most loving and nurturing for your body right now. I don't want to offend you, I just know the cycle it can lead to as I have to be careful myself :o Don't be embarrassed about the credit cards, I think its great you thought ahead and are being proactive about it! ;) Wise beyond your years! Sure is nice of you to do the road trip with your friend like that! I hope you two are safe and don't trigger each other at all! For me I don't really prepare mentally for the fast because mentally I just know its time for me to do it (if that makes sense?). Just listen to your body with the exercise. I believe tomorrow will be mostly stretching and yoga for me as my energy is dwindling and I want this to be healing and not taxing on me! Hope you have a good night!
Almost done with day 3 for me.....it hasn't been as hard as my previous day 3's which is cool. I mean I haven't been irritable or hungry but zippo on the energy! So tomorrow will have to be rest as much as I can before heading out for errands, meeting my dad at the hospital for tests and then to my inlaws for a visit....I wish I were one of the ones who gained energy! My longest fast was 12 and 1/2 days and each day is less and less energy and harder symptoms to overcome (weak, short of breath, kidney pain and muscle issues). I only hope I can push through this time the entire time to reach a deeper tissue level of detox for healing!! Hope everyone is doing ok and I will catch up with you all tomorrow :p

thank you luvnraw, you're so kind and understanding. The ED I'm uh, relapsing? (i put a "?" because I'm not sure i really recovered...just stopped doing the actions for about 3 months, but the the thoughts are constantly there) in is the binge/purge cycle. I think i just need to stop that binging habbit and focus on food as nutrition, not comfort. It's weird because I have all three mindsets (anorexia, bulimia, and healthy). I don't think i'll trigger her, but i'm not sure about her with me...she's VERY thin....
Anyway, I'll listen to my body when I do the exercise, if I even have the time! I'd like to walk 2 miles a day, but if I'm just up to a little bit I won't push myself.
Wow, you know, I've never written this much about my ED to anyone in public. I really feel like a lot of you on this board truely understand what I have or I am still going through. I really appreciate it. I just wish I could meet any one of you in person to give you a big hug!
luvnraw
07-27-2006, 10:14 PM
Dreamrawalwz ~ Well you can call it relapse or whatever you want really. I do get you, more then you know....I have long timeframes of anorexia, bulimia (both purging and exercise), healthy and a combo of all sometimes! When I am 100% raw, its the only time I have been able to get away from all of it (well I still exercise alot but not quite as much or for the same reasons). I can't say I will ever be 100% recovered but I do hope one day I can be and STAY 100% raw without being sidetracked since I go right back into ED behavior. GREAT JOB on 3 months, stopping the behavior for 3 months is huge and awesome and you should be soooooo very proud of yourself for that! Just curious and no need to answer (more questions for you to ask yourself), what allowed you to be free of it for 3 months? What brought you back to the behavior after 3 months without? You CAN and you WILL be free of it again, just stay raw and as you nourish your body, the mind gets better too and then as you love yourself more because if RAW you can get past the guilt issues for food and the behavior as you will want to treat your body well and will easier realize those behaviors aren't loving and hopefully eventually you won't think about it at all or at least not give in to it! Last year I was 100% raw for health reasons for 5 and 1/2 months in a row and never expected it to take away my mindset/behavior! What an awesome benefit :D I plan to beat that record soon enough and you can too! I haven't ever written in public about my issues with this but yes I believe this board is full of amazing people with love and understanding and goals of health which has made it a little easier but scary too for me! Please don't let your friends thinness trigger you if you can help it. Just remember raw is health, raw is life, raw is loving.....in the big realm of things thin doesn't matter, thin is not always healthy and you want health right?? Focus on health, being 100% raw and the rest will follow! Ok, I better get to bed already! Catch you tomorrow! :p

Hello everybody - it's been another long day.
luvnraw,
MissLinda ~ Great idea to order a pizza for Path to get him to go longer in the fast
Just say no to doe!!!
My time zone is an hour ahead of most of you, in the states that is.
And guess what I had the same lunch today but I added about 6 mushrooms and 2 sections of lemon...very tasty :D
The food I eat in the Bahamas, well I made it 150 days 100% raw, then the day before I was to take the cruise back to the states I had some sausages for breakfast and some eggs and some french toast. then later that night had some homemade icecream. Then the day of the cruise I didn't eat any acidy fruit or vinegary salad dressings I had cheese and meat again. Then on the cruise I had some pasta and the little truffle breaded things - very tasty/ and very, very bad for me - but this time I did not feel like I was going vomit on the cruise and I actual had a good time. Last time I had to sit down in an airconditioned area and sleep with 2 barf bags on stanby for the 7 hour cruise. And then I was nauseas and sick the first day there, in the Bahamas.
When I came back to the states, my body didn't do anything that day. But I had no bowl movement for 3 days. Then I was extremly tired for those three days. It took about a week for my body to readjust itself. And I gained 7lbs in 3-4 days.
mel123,
I've been sleeping about 5 to 6 hours a night. Only because I've been surfing the RFT way to long each night like a goof.
honeybee joy,
Today, my liver felt swolen and sore, then I cried, and it went away. I find it to be odd, but neat. I knew a good cry was coming on, suprized it hadn't sooner, but it did, and I am feeling better

Path301 ~ Thanks for sharing your Bahama food and what happened with that! You know sometimes SAD seems so tempting but man once the the headaches, runny nose, constipation, sluggishness, bloat, etc hit you it makes you long for a yummy salad or smoothie ;) Seems I want to fast soon after doing that to myself to detox anything I can and get my palate clean to crave the healthiest foods :) Hope you are off sleeping and not surfing the boards too late! You know I shouldn't diss your juice, mine is all veggies, I just haven't done spicy types I guess.....may have to try it ;) Have a great day 5, are you still making today your last complete day and breaking it Saturday?
MissLinda ~ Hope you are ok, didn't see you on after this morning! Have a great day 5 :p

Day three went well. No hunger, cravings, tiredness, or anything. My favorite juice of the day was surprisingly honeydew/lime. I've always avoided honeydews because of the green inside that made them look sour. I bought one at the farmer's market on impulse though. Very nice surprise! Sweet with just a little bit of a kick from the lime. :)
I had lots of energy all day. I did an hour on the treadmill and got caught up on some reading.

Well right now i'm about half way done with day one (wahoo, a lot lol, jk - sarcastic). I feel hunger (for once). Umm, my tounge and teeth are coated and my breath stinks. It's weird how fast detox can come on. I slep for 9 hours! that's A LOT for me. This past month it's been 5-7 hours every night, rarely the 7 hours. I woke up really puffy in the face. That could be detox (for me at least) and or the fact my cat slept on my chest all night. She rarely does that anymore so I let her :) I slept through some of the cravings so I don't have any at the moment.

I have been noticing that. I have noticed that when my back hurts it is because I am stressed out. I notice when I fast that all this emotion comes out. Yesterday was awful. Wanted to binge on a salad. Wasn't hungry, just wanted to run away from the feelings. I have realized that we use food and things so much to block out feelings that bother us, or that we think we don't have an answer to. It is hard to notice it when you are eating, because eating is a normal thing, but fasting is a different thing. Thanks for the insite!

This information I got out of Eating For Beauty by David Wolfe.
I got it under the insomnia section. It says you can help with insomnia by doing physical work, but don't think you want to do that during a fast. It says the old raw food cure is drinking lettuce juice. It says it contains soporic compunds and opiates that cause a calming sedative effect.
It is saying food high in tryptophan helps. It says doing mild yoga poses, hot baths, meditation, applying beauty masks, and massages are helpful.

LOL.... no smacking needed! No, I don't make myself cry, I just end up crying because the feeling feel overwhelming. I was suprised that I hadn't cried sooner, because I had been having these emotional feelings all day that day.

Ya, I think you are right about that. Thanks for the advice! Glad to hear that you are starting the fast!
*** Something that popped in my head and I think it is intersting to think about. You know how we get this itching for when we should fast? We start feeling bad, mood ect. I wonder if it could be because when we are eating, we don't deal with our feelings. Kinda like what mel123 said:
i believe that our bodies and emotions are directly connecting...i have been amazed at the physical conditions that go away or improve greatly with emotional catharisis...i have experience huge physical problems with amazingly little pain...there are some theories that most of our physical ailments are actually emotions that get stored in our body...
So, maybe out emotions get stored up, and that is when we feel we need a fast, because I was reading in Eating for Beauty, and it says that these emotions cause acidity:
Worry, Stress, Hatred, Fear, and Anger.
It says the symptoms of being to acidic are:
Tense Muscles, Stress Headache, Anger, Short Temper, Itchy Skin, Acne.
One thing I have realized is you can eat all raw and it doesn't matter, if you have negetive feelings, you hurt.
Back to my point, I think fasting lets these feelings out and enables us to deal with them, them we can find peace and release. ******
There are more responses that I want to make, but I have to run a errand.
Be back later!
Hope you have a blessed fasting day! ;)

Good morning all. Today is day 6 for me. I felt hungry this morning, but didn't want juice, so I had peppermint/ginger/lemon tea. It was sooooo yummy! Now I'm out of peppermint tea, and wish I had more. I may have chamomile for lunch....I need to drink more water today. I hope everyone else is doing well. I'm having such a large range of emotions ALL day...I go from being a grouch to quickly getting over the bad mood to being happy, when usually the bad mood hangs around all day. I have also felt alot of muscle soreness. I've done some yoga, but just alittle everyday. I think it's time for another "spa" night. Not sure when I will break my fast. Or maybe I did earlier with the one banana I had on Wednesday. I may start trying to have 1 piece of fresh fruit a day.....I don't want to go overboard. I'm enjoying the "cleaning out" feeling. I know I don't want that bloated, sluggish feeling coming back!! I hope all of you have a wonderful day. I have lots....LOTS of housework to do today! Everyone take care.

I HAVE NOT HAD AN EARACHE LIKE THIS FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS - SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT CAME FROM - OTHER THAN IT MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE BAHAMAS -?

It's weird how fast detox can come on. I slep for 9 hours! that's A LOT for me. This past month it's been 5-7 hours every night, rarely the 7 hours. I woke up really puffy in the face. That could be detox (for me at least) and or the fact my cat slept on my chest all night. She rarely does that anymore so I let her I slept through some of the cravings so I don't have any at the moment.
MAYBE YOUR BODY WANTS GET GET RID OF SOME STUFF NOW - FOR THE CAUSE OF YOUR QUICK DETOX RESULTS.
I WOULD SUGGEST NOT HAVING YOUR CAT SLEEP ON YOUR CHEST DUE TO WHAT MOST CAT'S CARRY ON THEIR FURS, THEY DON'T KNOW THAT THEY PICK UP DUST AND PARTICLES AND PARASITES FROM EVERYWHERE AND IF YOUR CAT GOES OUTSIDE IT EVEN WORSE.
petlady,
LOOKS CAN BE DECIEVING, I'M GLAD YOU LIKE THE HONEY DUE :D

Morning/afternoon to everyone! Last night was rough for me due to body pain issues that cause insomnia (not from fasting, I have it a few times a month)....so I didn't get to sleep until after 8am this morning and back up by 11:30am to start my day. I am definitely detoxing faster then usual this time around and wonder if its the sauna this time around, the fact that I did a 5 days fast a short time ago? Anyway I am hopeful to be getting to deeper tissue levels and stick this out for the long haul! ;) Today is my day 4 since the cherries make me not count Monday! I am tired, dizzy, short of breath/wheezy and the detox I have experienced so far varies, allergic reactions, earaches, tight jaw, numb tongue, diarhea, coughing up alot.....I know there are others but all are not long lasting and are here and gone (thank God for that!), others that I wish would not stick around are here for the long haul.....no kidney pain yet so that is cool as that and the shortness of breath usually make it very hard to continue minute to minute! I will try to catch up late night tonight.....I have abusy afternoon/evening and then tomorrow will be busy all day too until late......
MissLinda ~ Sketchy and short is fine as long as we know you are ok
Path301 ~ Yikes on the earache! I think things like that can be from years ago too but yeah the Bahamas throws some extra toxicity in there! You asked about potassium so I will give you some a link as to produce high in potassium.....of course these are 200 cal servings.....magnesium helps with that too. Go to this database (http://www.nutritiondata.com/nutrient-search.html) and you can search foods highest in either and pick vegetable and fruits instead of all food categories. Hope that helps!
Tvillemom ~ Go get yourself more peppermint tea, you are worth it ;)
Honeybee joy ~ I hope you get as many physical aspects healed up as you are emotional. You are doing awesome! :)
Petlady ~ Yay for trying something new! I hope you keep enjoying new juices like that. Have a great day 4! :p
Dreamrawalwz ~ Hope you feel better and yay for making it through half day! You can do this ;) Get lots of water in!
Mookie ~ Did you enjoy the sauna? How are you doing??
Everyone have a good fasting day and stay positive and focused on deep cleaning inside physical, mental and emotional!

Either I am the only one still surviving (barely), you all have mega energy and are out and about with lives like normal people, or you are comatose in bed  I figured I would come back to at least a post or two since mine. I must say I am struggling in a major way right now and have been for hours......I went to rent movies and the manager smelled like sugar cookies that my husband buys (SAD ones I have had, nothing compares to that frosting when you are in SAD sugar mode) and I can't stop thinking of them or a bunch of other foods too really......family was eating in front of us while we visited, mom kept mentioning one of my favorite SAD foods.....so my mind i going crazy with SAD foods I want in a major way  Went to the grocery store to get veggies for juicing (today I have had lemon water and tea) and there I wanted some of these SAD foods but even the bluberries on sale were killing me.....I kept thinking to myself well to break the fast and go to 100% raw would be great with the sales they had on some of my favorite fruits.....but then I would be thinking about the junkfood too......got my veggies and my grandma's gifts for tomorrow and were headed to the checkout when hubby decided what he wanted for dinner.....so in my craving mode he got one of my favorites and the smell drove me crazy the 30 minute drive home, while he ate it and now as it lingers......I keep telling myself if I wait this out that I am sure tomorrow will be better and I can't break my fast on junk as I am doing this to get healthy and it will make me physically ill, so why can't I get it out of my head? I usually have that on day one or two, not the end of day 4! Wish I hadn't gone to rent movies.....smells even when 100% raw for a long time drive me crazy and tempt me.... I don't think it helps that I had 3 and 1/2 hours sleep and as tired as I am can't sleep again as my body is out of whack and in major pain.....sometimes in the past when the pain is this bad and I am hurting enough to rock and cry and wanting something, anything to make it go away, I have given in to SAD to comfort myself....complex regional pain syndrome along with other issues seems to take its toll on me mentally at times and I give in to past comforts. It doesn't help that hubby was all too eager to point out more of my SAD junk favorites as we were in the store and saying I will support you in whatever you decide.....then saying well you could just have a one hour cheat you know.....well I am off to drink my red clover/ginger tea and try to focus on something else to get me through this and pray for sleep tonight so I can function tomorrow with a clearer mind and stay away from as many triggering smells as I can (sugar especially as the others would not have bothered me if I hadn't smelled that, I am a sugar-a-holic ~ runs in the family). Night all, I hope your days were good and I am pressing onto day 5 and can't wait for day 4 to be over as its been a rough one. :(

I'm still here, but maybe I shouldn't be? Not sure. I keep having this stupid debate in my head. :( It won't go away!
Fasting isn't working so I'll give up for now. I think I was doing it for wrong reasons, but not really know it, know what i mean? They "healthy" side made me eat some today, but not out of cravings. I didn't binge and I stayed all organic. I think i'll have to do that. I don't think going from b/p daily to a fast is a good idea. Thing is that what I did eat wasn't that much. I have those dizzy feelings, high as a kite feeling like I did during the anorexia and...I like it and crave it. The anxiety is really high about eating in front of people again and I want to cry if I'm put into that situation (such as tonight, even if i didn't eat, the anxiety was still there). I was sitting there calculating and recalculating calories and what I had to eat today. I felt guilty. I feel so bad saying this, but I think I have to admit this. If it's wayy too off topic I'll remove this reply. I just feel I'm falling fast in front of your eyes and fasting isn't good for me right now. I wish someone could help, but you all can't. I'm not trying anymore...I want to give up and completely give in to the ED.
Sorry to be so negative. I'm surprised I'm writing this all out in public view, but it's more like us 5? reading and I have to admit it to someone.

Dreamrawalwz ~ What is it that made you go 3 months without any of the ED behavior? I understand that the time is not right for you to fast and I am glad that you see it, have acknowledged it and ate. I am sorry though that you are feeling fearful to eat in front of people, eating little even though it is healthy raw stuff and organic, totally nourishing for your body and calculating calories in your head. Why the high anxiety (feel free to not answer, just think about it, or continue to post here assuming its ok, or email me, its in my profile)....has the anxiety been brought on by trying to fast, by not being able to continue fasting or maybe the trip with your friend who you feel is thinner and is on her way to IP? Please don't give up or give in. You did it for 3 months and you can do it much longer.....you have to figure out what is behind the anxiety, what is pushing you to give in, give up? What are you running from and why?? I know our behaviors are physical but they are brought on due to mental/emotional issues....or at least I do believe that. In time even if those issues are dealt with it can have become a habit too.....neither are easy to deal with but both can be overcome! I do feel your pain and I do feel 100% raw is the way to do it......are you 100% or can you even do high raw and be ok? I just want you to get out of the binge cycle as well as the counting/restricting/hiding cycle.....can I do anything to help?? I will definitely be praying for you! You appear young enough to overcome this (not sure of your age or how long you've been dealing with this) and with God all things are possible and I feel raw is freeing on so many levels it will lead you there as well......{{{{{{hugs}}}}}} Don't give up, don't give in......only love and give your body the best nutrition you can ok? You are focusing on health with raw, no need to count calories ok, just eat when hungry and until satisfied.....know those nutrients will feed your body, give you health and make you feel more stable mentally/emotionally and overcome this.....it takes time.....when I first started raw I still had to force myself NOT to count calories, to listen to my body and eat when hungry and what I craved as long as it was raw.....it took awhile to get those obsessive thoughts/habits out of my head but I did....until I cheated on SAD that is and now the cycle is here and I am trying hard to break it......we can do this ok?? As I said I will be praying for you and feel free to email me. I try to check it once a day most days..... ;)

I'm thinking about all this and I'll email the response. I feeling I'm starting to say too much on here. Quickly I will say that I'm 19 and I was deep into my ED at 12 so I think it started before then. I have been 100% raw for the past 5 months and have had stretches of off and on for 2 years previously.
EDIT: ok, I typed up a HUGE response and copied it so I wouldn't lose it. Then I accidentally copied your email address so....it replaced my whole email! I'll have to really think about it and retype it in the morning.

Dreamwalz and luvnraw,
my heart goes out to you both. I am so sorry!
I went to the drive-in theater tonight, and there was food all over the place. I thought about popcorn, all that crap, even corn dogs, and I don't eat meat. I had been avoiding movie theaters lately because of the food, but I thought that the drive-in would be ok, because you don't have to deal with the snack bar, well silly me forgot that when you are fasting that you can smell everything. The junk food smell was atractive to me, I am embarrased to admit it, but on well, I did not cave, but thought, well why don't i go home and have a salad, or I am going to binge on something bad. I was good, my decision is I will deal with it in the morning, by then I will have forgoton about food and be ready to finish this fast.
Dream- don't feel bad about the ED, at least don't be embarrased about it, this is a journey, and those feelings don't go away overnight. I am so proud at you progress. I mean it. So proud! Keep it up!
Luv- I had the same issues tonight. I wanted it all. I kinda wished that I hadn't went tonight, I feel a little off balance, because of all the bad food that has ran though my head tonight, but I am going to believe for the best, and believe that I will be back on track on this fast tommorow. I did find the best smelling raw pizza seasoning at the HF store today, I am finally going to make a raw pizza when I get done with all of this cleansing!
Sweet Dreams.

Honeybee Joy ~ Yay for not caving into the temptation at the drive in! I am feeling better about the cravings right now and hope if I can ever get some sleep that I will wake up not fighthing this battle! You know I was doing so well on raw for so long and not having the SAD cravings but once I gave in I was done for and am fighting to get away from that again! Funny about the drive in, hubby always takes fast food or buys there and I (much to his horror at first but now he laughs and shakes his head) grab my already washed produce, tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper, whatever I am wanting, paperplate, napkin, peeler & knife and while he eats his stuff I cut up whatever I am in the mood for and eat it! I have found it fun! Then since we always hit the one with 2 movies, for the second movie I have strawberries, blueberries, grapes or already cut up watermelon after my veggies have time to digest! You should just pack up your own stuff and go, its easier! I admire that you went with nothing, fasting and didn't cave! You go !! You said you hope to be back on track on the fast in the morning, I am confused do you mean thoughtwise with the struggles or did you eat the salad when you got home? Either way fasting or raw is better then SAD and sometimes we just have to suffer through it and will feel better later! I did think about the drivein this weekend but I couldn't handle hubby eating Little Caesars beside me when I was having veggie juice or tea, at least not yet....the longer I go in the fast I won't be tempted at all and that will be good! Thanks for sharing and being honest, good for you and helped me a lot! Not if I could just kick this pain and get some sleep!
Dreamrawalwz ~ Sorry about losing that email! Take your time getting it to me and just know I am here for ya! We all are ;) You can beat this, yes you started young but still in years you are young and not as far into this ED as you could be.....I really think raw and soul searching in time will do the trick. Just remember failure is only when you quit trying....I say goodnight hopefully for the last time! :o

dream, it does seem embaressing when we start to unearth deep issues within us...when we start being really honest about what is really going on...our culture is so programmed to stay at the surface and pretend we are ok, no matter what is going on...you are so courageous and much more powerful than you believe...what is inside of you is one million times more beautiful and real than any ed...i have binging disorder and it has seemed like a personal hell for me at times...but when i pray and know that my strength comes from the inside...that i am a beautiful expression of all that is good...a child of a kind and friendly universe where i am safe and all good is here for me...when i find a million ways to remind myself of that...my ed dissapears...i play inspiring music, talk to encouraging people, meditate, watch videos that move me, hold a baby, anything to reconnect with who i really am...i am so much more than a ed, or my struggles with food...i am a beautiful, loving child of a gentle, supportive higher power...and what is true for me is also true for you...you are doing just the right thing...reaching out and being as honest as you can...thank you for your inspiring honesty....Melissa

MY BAD EVERYONE,
been really up and down ---here but not here--ya konw what i mean? i'll need to go back and read everyone's response..............
Dream babe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! would it be correct to say that no matter if you are fasting, eat, not eating, raw or not, your ED thoughts are with you???? right??? sounds like some deep deep embedded thoughts, feelings, associations etc are getting closer and closer to surfacing. One question that is great to help facilitate that unraveling is "why?"
Example:
Why am I afraid of letting go of my ed thoughts?
answer: to be thin
Why do I want to be thin?
answer: cuz i feel fat
Why do I feel fat?
answer: cause i hate myself
Why do i hate myself?
answer: I never feel good enough etc
Why do I not ever feel good enough?
answer: cuz I have this unrealistic belief that if I keep going, someda I will find perfection
Why do I want to be perfect?
answer: Then I don't have to worry about anything
**You can keep going with these questions and answers and notic apattern and at some point, you will come back to the same issue over and over..........it really shows that what we "think" and feel impacts of choices and outcome.................not an overnite probelm solver but to help break that thought pattern that is soooooooooooooooooooo much part of ED mindset b/c we have programmed and created beliefs that are not realistic or true.
sorry i'm writing reall abrupt and will be back after work. Love ya'll for now and do everything in tiny tiny steps..............pieces to the big puzzle of our lives :)

MissLinda - so you think since my ED is getting worse it means things are coming to the surface? I guess that could be true, but I always thought that as the hard emotions/situations surface I use the ED to completely block them out so I can focus on something else. Yes, my ED thoughts are always there. I say there are levels: just being a thought that can leave easily and then in progressing stronger and then into the actions. Anyway, I don't want to detur this thread too far off so you guys can continue with your fasting conversations. Don't let me get in the middle of it.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh noooooooooooooo chicka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your experiences are part of the fasting and very important. It's those VERY emotions, twisted feeling inside that want to scream, cry and lash out that get so repressed by our ED behaviors/rituals. Especially with anorexia, we're taught to be "perfect" don't get bent out of shape! Well we can change that..........
WHen you feel those emotions boiling, what are they? Can you describe them?
For example, thie other day when my sister pointed that anorexic gal walking off, I started to feel agitated,angry,jealous,worthless.................m y sis eventually confronted me and asked about my increasing anger...........anorexia is such a "competative" disease, not only with yourself but with other anorexics and the game is a sick one. Our phrase we created to help me get past that feeling, we use "just knock it off!" WE sway it kinda comical but forceful.......................
What areyour thoughts?

Mel123 ~ Wow, what you said is beautiful and I will try to remember that for myself as well!
Dreamrawalwz ~ I think its good for you to talk about it, especially with those of us hear dealing with the same issues or have dealth with, either way we understand and can hold you hand and try to help you through this emotional time. You are worth the time and effort, we love you and want you to love yourself and treat yourself well. We all know ed behavior is not treating ourselves well but you have to keep striving for it, working through the emotions, fear, anxiety, etc. until you are through it or at least until the thoughts are less prominent and more in the back of your mind.....you can and you will, I just know it ;)
MissLinda ~ Excellent questions! I must say for myself I can say yes there are always people thinner but regardless of where I am in my weight I always feel fat, its never ending and like Dream its at different levels at different times. At least with raw if I am all raw then its less and in the back of my mind but only after doing raw for say 2 months and working very hard to push those thoughts away, positive affirmations, prayer, etc. I am so glad that your sister was with you, helped you recognize and talk about it and get you through that some!
I really hate to be a quitter in this fast AGAIN since I ate those raw cherries Monday for dinner after fighting with hubby about me fasting. I feel like mentally and physically I need it. One of the reasons I wanted to do this was my digestive system was whacked out from breaking the last fast poorly (raw fat after fruit, yes not smart) and while I was always thinking of food whether raw or SAD nothing looked or sounded satisfying and I ate anyway.....usually I think thats a good time to fast and my digestive system was screaming for it which was why nothing looked good to me, yet I would eat some anyway feeling that I should. This morning my hubby insisted I get on the scale (which I have been avoiding as I felt it would make me binge) and I am down 10, he's freaking out and doesn't want me to continue it anymore let alone the planned 20 days as this already puts me in the BMI underweight category.....yes if you must know I do still feel fat, wish I didn't though. I know the BMI's are not accurate so much but I do lift weights 3 times per week and have alot of muscle for a girl and alot of people in my family tell me that since I have the muscle that I looks less then I actually weigh (I have never seen that). Although at heavy or thinner weights people always guess me about 10 - 15 lbs thinner then what I actually weigh at. I know that when I break the fast I will go up some which is why I figure its ok to continue longer but I am not sure its worth the stress/fight of it, especially with him home the entire weekend......still trying to decide what to do

I know you had listed aromatherapy as part of this fast. Can you tell me what you do with that? I bought some essential oils for cleaning with as well as adding to raw carb/coconut/agave mixture....I just read what scents can do for mood but am curious how would I use the essential oil as a scent for a mood? Also, where do you purchase yours, curious if you get a great price compared to what I bought? Thanks for any help you can provide with that :)

I think I finally figured it out. I mean, I knew it, but it fully has clicked how much this is impacting me. Read my latest post "medical mystery - i'm not alone..." and it kind of explains things. It's SO hard to explain because I'm so alone. No matter how much I try to explain it people look at me as if I have 2 heads. This medical mystery is THE major cause of depression and ED. I'm using the ED as punishment mentally to what my body is doing to me and that I can't control the...disease oro whatever the heck it is. ARG, I can't even talk about it. Just read that post please?

Hello everyone!
Well I just broke the fast. I did it with a granny smith apple. I could give you all pleanty of BS excuses, but it is the emotions popping up. For some reason I am unable to release them. They just feel so stuck, and it is so overwhelming. I am depressed. I did do the fast almost four days. My colon was acting up as well, I know it was detox, but it was this mess, it was extremely gassy, crampy, and and this liquid ooze. I know it was detox, but for some reason my willpower is low. It is the depression. I just feel so weak emotionally, like I cannot continue with the fast. Don't worry about me, I am not going to be down in this hole for long, I won't let it, but that is where I am for now. I did get out today and chatted with a friend today, and we were able to do some brainstorming and just talking about positive thinking and love and all of that stuff. I am not going to be upset with myself for breaking the fast sooner than I wanted, it is part of the journey.

I didn't eat the salad, I just meant the emotional aspects of it.
That sound so cute what you do. The drive-in is awesome, because you can bring things in easier. It was so funny, I walked by this car, and this couple had biscuts, ranch dressing and other condiments, looked like they were having their dinner. I thought, I wonder what they would think of me with a salad and fruit, because people think of the movies as a place to let it loose and eat bad! Hope you got some good rest! Oh! I did bring a veggie juice along, so it wasn't nothing, but ya.
I just find it weird, because we all have different driggers, and different stuff that triggers the things that are our addictions. It sometimes can be hard, but I am learning to use my positive thinking to believe that I will overcome these issues, and I will eventually be set free.
Just wanted to send everyone some love today! We will get thru this stuff!

Another weird thing I wanted to add.
Today I have been having this weird swamp like looking stuff come out of me. It is swamp green, and it is mostly bubbles. It happened twice. Each time before it happend I had this awful cramping in my colon, gassy and crampy, so I go to use the restroom and that is what is there, that is all that is there.
I have been doing a parasite cleanse and thought the fasting would help kill the parasites.
This started after I broke my fast with the granny smith. About 15-30 mins later.
Anyone ever experience this, or know what it is. It was kinda saliva like.

Hey all I finally made it. my last day was friday. - I had meetings all day, none of them went the way I had hoped. All of them were at resturants and one was at a clients home, a sad eater home. I brought 2 apples in my brief case I was able to blend it up. Then later in the evening had soem tomato juice and basically just starved all day because of the sad resturants that I was in just drank water and lemons. Saturday morning around 10am - had an apple used the fletcherism approach. Then around 11 am had 2 mangos and 3 apples juiced. Then about 3pm had danelion stalks and 3 sweetlong onions, 5 carrots,1 cucumber,1 zucchini,2 green pepers, some lemon and some sea salt juiced - tasted like sh*t but I felt the about 1 hour later the knot and tightness in my right calf - where I had my musle cramp loosen up and relax. It's still feels like I strained it but it's not tight anymore.
more water tonight.
honeybee joy,
Another weird thing I wanted to add.
It was kinda saliva like.
it could be what was being worked on by your body tryng to rid itself of past toxins and this granny smith apple acted as a plunger for you.
therealashland,
scroll back to the start of this thread - MISSLINDA, has some excellent info in there to check out. Plus why do you want to fast? and what are you expecting to achieve by the fast? and have you ever done a fast before? this would help to know in order to better help you get started.
dreamrawalwz,
Just curious do you have a full length mirror in your home? If you do is it in your bedroom or elsewhere?
The reason I ask this is, that people have a certain mentality about themselves which they believe everybody else is thinking about them. But in reality people usaully are not. They may be looking at you and thinking wow, I wander where she picked up that cool purse? I bet it would look better on me than her. Or does she know that her shoes don't match her outfit.
When I was a big and fat I would always see peoples expressions as they looked at me and smiled or smerked. So I was always on gaurd to tell myself that I needed to keep walking straight and don't look directly at their eyes, don't smile or I might see their facial expression. One time I caught this dude smerking at me, and I assumed he and he's girlfriend were laughing at me for being overwieght - finally I just stepped up to them and I asked them what was so funny? - and they said that I reminder them of her brother who was a comedian - she said that I looked just like him. Well that blew my anger out the door!!! I couldn't beat the crap out of him now, just because I'm assumed that they were making fun of me.
The reason I asked you about the mirrors was that what you see about yourself is different then what other people see about you. I was a big - fat man for 15 years - and when I lost all my weight my mind was slower to change than my body. Sometimes I catch myself thinking my old patterns. Because when I looked down at my body I still see imperfections. But when i see myself in the full length mirror I see my success and my future not my past. If the mirror is in your bedroom than it's personal. If it's in the hallway or another part of the house, then it's not and it could still be an issue for you. even if you may not have been overweight.
Misslinda,
are you talking care of your self? ;)

Today I was so tired from yesterday that I passed out for 4 hour nap.
I need to get my strength back misslinda some people are depending on me to help them, but I'm not at full capassity/ strength yet I need to put in a lot of O.T. this next week. I could not help my father with his lanscape projects today coz I was to weak. I don't want my father to hurt himself, trying to do all the work that needs to be done in this sweltering humidty we have here.
I'll be with you ;) misslinda, I'm not going anywhere, I'm just ending my fast.
2 -3 day recovery - I'm still tied to the keyboard you know just for you :D

Honeybee Joy ~ I think its good that you know why you broke the fast and 4 days is great! Hope you feel better/happier soon!
Path301 ~ Yeah that nasty juice sounds bad! You need to try that pineapple/strawberry/beat one that was mentioned here! Great job completing your goals and I hope recovery goes great!
MissLinda ~ While not fasting I am here cheering you on! Hope you are feeling good and had a good weekend!
Sorry I wasn't on all day today. Its after midnight here and I am off to bed in a minute but wanted to check in to support you all! I did break my fast Saturday late so I could complete 5 full days from Monday 8p to Saturday 9pm.....going with simple raw juicy fruits and my tummy is a bit unsettled but it is much of the time anyways. I always have to be super careful with combining, time between meals, etc. I was not on today as I am still tired, having muscle issues and very short of breath and hubby and I watched movies most of the day and lounged around. I will try to be on more to cheer MissLinda on with her fast, Path with recovery and anyone else who is fasting....Petlady? Mookie? Mel123? How are all of you doing? Hope the weekend did not do you in and you are feeling great, detoxing and feeling strong  Night all! I will catch up tomorrow after laundry, vacuuming, weight lifting & intervals....when I get on the elliptical I hook up my laptop to read and answer, so I will catch you then or maybe before then for a very lite (possible juice) breakfast! ;)
