My mom and dad were watching a show the other day about coke and pepsi really coming from actual natural products, but they add junk in to perserve, fizz, caffeine, etc... but all those things don't really effect the taste of the drink so you can make your own healthy pepsi or coke at home from natural ingrediants. I am going to give it a try when I get some oranges. He would not give exact measurements so I will have to experiment with this to get the right taste. I never was much on cokes or pepsi ever but I thought it would be nice for my husband or a coke icy for me if it turns out good. Here are the ingrediants:
Lemons
oranges
Limes
Nutmeg
Cinnamon
Vanilla
More oranges for pepsi
Cool huh? If you try it before me let me know how it turns out.

I know Nature's First Law sells the whole spice (looks a little like nutmeg) and also the spice ground. It does have a cola taste to it. I have a couple of small bags but keep forgetting to use them!

But what about the fizz though? I mean, flat Coke/Pepsi is really gross. I could never drink it once it's flat. Although my mom always used to give us her "home remedy" whenever we had upset stomaches which was Ginger Ale stirred up until it was flat... So I drank that to make her happy, but never liked it that way...
Is there a natural way to get the fizz?? Then it would be interesting to try...

Maybe using part naturally bubbly spring water?

Is that like club soda or something? Or can you get bottles of spring water that's has air bubbles in it? I've never had a spring water that was bubbly.
This is an interesting concept, I must say... :)

Most spring water is artifically bubbled with carbon dioxide. Others come out of the ground that way. I could be wrong but I think Perrier is in it's natural form. You'd have to check on that.
Enjoy!

I just got this from the Perrier website... it may be carbonated too:
"Perrier is a natural mineral water. As defined by French law, this means water with a stable composition and healthy properties, as certified by the department of health and the national academy of medicine.
Perrier contains only mineral salts and carbonation (CO2). It contains no sugar, caffeine or calories. Flavoured Perrier* is a beverage made with Perrier natural mineral water and essential oil extracts."

Opps... then they say this:
"What does the label "fortified with gas from the spring" mean?
To ensure the quality and stability of Perrier's carbonation, CO2 is tapped at great depths, before it reaches the mineral water table, and is used to boost the spring water."
So although they do add extra CO2 it's done with local gas *GRIN*. Make of that what you want!

  LOL!
I think they talk like this so we automatically don't know what they're talking about... LOL
So is Perrier healthy or not do you think?

Personally, I wouldn't want to intentionally eat or drink something with CO2 in it. It may be a naturally occuring cubstance is some cases but I don't think that it is meant to go inside the human body. CO2 can't be cooked so It isn't a matter of raw vs. cooked. It is a matter of this substance not being biologically appropriate for the human body to take in. In my case, carbonation always gave me gas and cramps and it always was so harsh on my nose. I never liked it.That is just my opinion though. Maybe you guys can use that juice and spice mixture as a slight reminder of cola but without needing the carbonation. Shaking it up really hard for a few seconds will give it fizz though.

When I crave something fizzy, I crack open a bottle of GT's Organic Raw Kombucha. The citrus flavor is yum-yum-yummy.

I've only had one sip of a bubbly drink in the last few years, and it felt like I'd put something bad in my mouth. The bubbles we that unfamiliar! Too funny. I get the same thing when I use standard tooth paste as well... like I'm brushing my teeth with soap (which I know some do).
Sheryl
PS Young coconuts at a very specific stage have some carbonation - they are called champagne coconuts and very tasty! You can't see the bubbles but you can feel them lightly on your tongue. They are very young at this stage and I don't think you'd get them at this stage unless they were fresh.

RAW, RAW, RAW!
Everyday is different. I just keep it simple and enjoy my food.
Like today:
breakfast
banana, date, and banana smoothie 2 glasses
Lunch
guacomole salad with pico de gallo
Dinner
I don't know yet
I snack on fruits, raisens, or whatever else I want. I don't restrict myself on fat or calories or this food or that food. If I want 1 banana or 20 bananas I eat what I want and the same goes for everyother fruit or vegetable.
KEEP IT SIMPLE!

I'll have to agree with iloverawfoods and her recommendation. I've lost 77 pounds since Jan. 1st and I don't restrict myself in what I eat that is raw. If I want to just eat nuts one day, that's what I do. All fruit the next? Sure, let's do that.
Keep it simple and eat what you like that is raw and the weight will go away. And, of course, exercise wouldn't hurt either. :)

Why would you want to mimic pepsi or coke? Maybe to get off the addiction? I much prefer what nature has given us to juice...
