Vanilla Beans - Where do YOU get yours?

Hi All,

I was looking through threads for Ice Cream Ideas.. Yummy! All of them sounded great.

I read one from RP about her using 1/2 a long bean each day and was wondering where you got yours or a supplier for them. I rather have the fresher ones rather than the bottled jar kind. are they available online?

Gracie, did you know that each "bean" is the seed pod of a large orchid? They have to pollinate them by hand generally. I've seen vanilla orchids, they grow sort of like a huge vine, amazing.

Mexico is also a good place to get them, they're native to Mexico.
