I increased my fruit consumption considerably in the last 4 weeks.
I am eating 2-3 pieces of fruit and loads of various in season berries. Well I now am experiencing vaginal itching and discharge. I am assuming a slight yeast infection but not bad enough to drive me to the Dr for Dulfican. (if that is how you spell that !).
So I thought this odd at 10 months Raw to have these symptoms ! Can anyone shed some light on what may be going on with this fruit bringing on the yeast ? I wonder if I developed it...or I am cleasing ?

Yeast is the little critter that does us the favor of eating excess sugar when too much of it ends up in the bloodstream. The waste products of yeast metabolism cause the itching, etc. How does too much sugar end up in the blood? Usually, too much fat in the diet. Fats disrupt the mechanism that allows sugar to be delivered to the cells. Remove the fat and most likely your problems will disappear. The other thing that could cause the problem is eating too much dried fruit, dates, or starchy foods like potatoes, yams, carrots, corn, etc. Fruit does not cause yeast issues. Fruit is our primary food. Ideally, our diet should be 70-90% fruit.
In some individuals, yeast problems can be experienced as the body becomes very efficient (as in long term raw fooders) and demands far less food than the person is accustomed to eating. Too much intake and too little expenditure means too much sugar in the bloodstream, sometimes even though the person is eating no fat, dried fruit or starches at all. Adding more tender greens like lettuce and baby spinach to the diet can help alleviate the problem because they have very little sugar. In beginners, it's usually enough to get rid of the fats, starches and dried fruits temporarily and eat mostly fruit and tender greens until the problem clears up.
Best wishes,

Nora,
I am eating no starches, and very little dried fruit, so I must look to the fats, which is moderate and in form of Almonds and Pumkin Seeds.
I will add more greens back in too for awhile and see if it helps !
Thanks.

I got my first EVER yeast infection a few weeks ago during my most major detox and it sucked for a a couple days but then it just went away on its own. Don't take anything for it or it will just be suppressed and come back later. Just stop eating fats for a little bit or go on a water fast and it will be crappy for a few days or a little longer depending on how much yeast is in your system but then it will go away. Take a few showers each day if that makes you feel cleaner and only use water down there and you might also cut down on sweets a little but I've heard that it is fats that aggrivate a yeast infection. Then again, you might want to just eat normally so that you aren't suppressing anything and it can all come out on it's own even faster. You can't have a yeast infection for very long on raw. It will go away eventually. Personally, I was a bread and yeast junkie when I was cooked. I ate yeasty breads more than anything else and my detox yeast infection only lasted 3 days so it's no big deal. Using drugs to 'cure' it will only make things worse in the long run.

I know that whatever I eat any sugar or cooked food, this happens to me. I have had (I am supposing) a systemic yeast infection as long as I can remember, since this has happened to me since I first started menstruating. Medicine never made it go away. But when I went raw, the symptoms went away. But again, as soon as I eat too much sugar, it comes back. I think it is from my body being too acidic, and the little yeasties just love it!! As for the fat issue, I never heard or read anything about fat being an issue with it, but I know my body reacts to sugar.....
Hope that helps some!

rawpriestess,
Is it the the probiotics that kill the yeast? I recently had to start supplamenting because of a lack of B12 and it has come back....... The supplaments are definately not all raw, and I have indeed been craving tons of cooked food- it is hard to live like this, I think it is the yeast craving it.....
I will try some probiotics and see if that helps. Thank You!!

I was taking Probiotics and Primal Defense (HOS i.e. dirt!) but I got off track with it daily ! I will get back on it RP.
I started a 2 week "First Cleanse" and then will go to a deeper 7 DMC in a few weeks.
I do eat fats daily in form of a serving or ywo of nuts. I will drop that out !
I have been wanting to so I could lose a few pds but have not done it. This will be motivation to get closer to 80-10-10.

Every night before bed I take:
1 12-16 oz glass water
1 - 1.5 t. prociotic powder (should be kept and bought in the fridge)
1-2 t. ground flax
1-2 t. ground physillium husks
Put water in blender - while running on low add all ingredients at once - drink immediatly.
I have fought vaginal yeast overgroth since I was 9. I have found this concoction a magical cure & preventitive.
Feel free to use more of the probiotice powder. I pay $16 for a bottle and it is in the chiller section.
Good luck!

Hi there,
In the short term you can insert probiotic capsules vaginally to help relieve symptoms while you address your diet changes. Nora's advice is right on. I get yeast symptoms when I eat too much fat.
Take care
