I'm assuming I can't just go to the grocery store and buy a bag of lentils. Where do I find raw things to sprout? I'd love to try raw chickpeas. I LOVE hummus...

Well I actually DID get my lentils at the regular grocery store and they sprout (Goya brand). But I usually get my sprouting stuff the local health food store. I've also bought online from http://www.sprouthouse.com

I WISH I liked raw chickpeas!!! :D

ellen, many if not most people do not like sprouted garbanzos (nor the hummus made from them), so just to save you a little heartache if you go out of your way to get them.

There have been threads here on hummus, and there are many excellent options if you're looking for something that tastes remotely in the ballpark of standard hummus, I would point you in the direction of a base from something else other than the sprouted garbanzos.

Some people do like it, so if you want to try it go ahead, I'm just warnin you that lots of people go "ew" to it.

So if they're easy to obtain, hey, try it, ;) see what you think for yourself. I'm just lettin ya know that I wouldn't go too far out of my way to get them, as there is some likelihood of disappointment.

But the sprouted lentils, I think they're a little yummier (lentil curry!). You can get them at most sprouting places, or you may find a more convenient source.

I've sprouted both lentils and chickpeas that I'd bought at Walmart... nothing special, just the usual bags of dried beans.
