Is it the same as coconut oil? I saw references to coconut butter in some recipes, can I use coconut oil or is this a differnt product?

I've gotten both and they are different.
"Freshly made form the whole coconut flesh, this is a food, not just oil"

I think orginally coconut butter and oil was the same thing. Usually you'll see the term "coconut oil/butter" used to show that it's the same thing.

I found this about the Artisana coconut butter:

Artisana has defined their Coconut Butter with a signature blend of coconut meat and coconut oil, yeilding a fibrous, densely nutritious spread and a wonderful ingredient in raw desserts, smoothies, savory dishes and snacks.

Oil separation occurs naturally; stir before serving.

So maybe that is just their personal signature twist on coconut oil/butter? Either way, sounds delicious and I am sure it would be good!

But in general, I was taught the term oil and butter for coconut oil is the same thing.
