Okay, for those of you who have Alissa's book, I'm sure you've made the Mock Salmon Pate recipe. First off, let me say that it is an excellent and delicious recipe and so easy to make!!!

But for some reason, both my boyfriend and I have had the strangest reaction to it that I can't explain and don't really know why other than maybe a strange form of detox. I'm high raw (with 100% a lot of the time) and he is raw about 1 day a week (gotta start somewhere, lol). I first made the recipe a few months ago, and we both LOVED it and ate a LOT of it the day I made it. I thought it was one of the best raw recipes I had made. Then a few days later I made it again and neither one of us could even take a bite we were so grossed out by it. I tried to eat some and literally started gagging. A couple months later I made it again and the same thing happened. I forced myself to take a few bites (even though I thought I was gonna throw up) and then it started to taste good again....now I eat it about once a week. My boyfriend though still is grossed out by even looking at it, and I don't think will ever eat it again. We both eat all the ingredients separately or in other recipes with no problem, so it's not like a food allergy or anything.

Any ideas?????

I'm not sure what the ingredients are in it, but is it possible that something you put in it the times you didn't like it might have been spoiled? I once got some olive oil that had a really weird flavor. I threw it out. I've bought bulk nuts and seeds that are mostly good but have some rancid ones mixed in, probably because the store mixes new and old without cleaning the bins out.

I thought maybe that was it, but it was more just looking at it and thinking about eating it that was so bad. It always tasted fine and never made me sick, so I don't think it could have been spoiled. Very odd. However, I discovered tonight that my cat absolutely loves it!

I had the exact same thing happen!!! I loved it the first night I ate it, then let it sit in the fridge for a couple of days. Tried it again and it tasted ... just wrong. I remade the recipe in a smaller amount and it tasted the same, just funky.

I've never made it, but I do know that one day something will taste so good, I can't get enough, then the next day, I just don't want it.

so, I know my body will want something and then not, then want it and not.

i have made it a couple times and liked it.. but i like pretty much anything.. i can say that it's not something i could eat all the time though.. there is something about it for sure and I can't put my finger on it either..

I have had a similar experience on several occasions. I will make something, usually a recipe more complex then pure and simple, love it the first and maybe second day but after that I get queasy. I even tried freezing the leftovers one time figuring I could come back to them. Several months later I tried again... same reaction. Don't get it.
