I live in St. Louis and can't seem to find durians anywhere...If there is anyone in this area, where can I buy them?

Hi there,
Have you been looking in asian stores? That is where you will find them! :-)
Happy durian hunting!
Take care,
Audrey

Check out an Asian market. They keep them in the freezer there.

I read somewhere that they have a funky smell but they taste good. Do you eat them alone, use them in shakes, or what? I'm going to go online and see if I can find a picture of one!

I eat them alone, and I find it taste best that way. Just eat it like how you eat any other fruit. They taste like custard to me. It's very addictive; probably the most addictive fruit for me.

I'm in rural MS and there are no Asian markets anywhere close to me.
What about an online supplier? Anyone know where I might order a Durian? I'm on a mission to taste one. :D

Oh my gosh--durian is the best fruit ever! It's sooooooooooo good! I live in So. Cal and Whole Foods occasionally has it. It's like $17.99 a pound. It's such a treat. I don't buy it often becuase it's so expensive, but since Whole Foods doesn't always have it, I don't have to worry about spending so mcu all the time. I agree with the last post, it takes like custard. I just love it.

I'm coming to San Francisco in September....can you invite me over so i can try some :p I've never had it, and I dont know how to open it, i'm scared of the smell, and frankly, i'm scared to pick one up because of the stupid spikes on the sides. :o

The spikes do look intimidating but are just rough and don't hurt. In Alissa's DVD, she rips one open with her bare hands!
