I have been raw food for about two weeks and am wondering if my body would be relesing toxins into my breastmilk. I have heard that starting a rawfood diet can have a cleansing effect.

I do recall seeing this question being asked before. Try and do a search as I do not recall the replies.

better to get it out then to keep the toxins in. Your baby will be healthier drinking the milk that you will produce while on raw.

Thank you for all your comments. Does anyone know what kind of side effects my baby would have if toxins were to be in my breast milk. Im on the second week and I have a huge sore in my mouth. Im not sure, I think in the long run its the best for both of us though.

How old is your little one? I started eating raw in Jan. of this year. My son was just a year. I still breastfeed and it's so nice to know that my milk is so great for him after this awesome transition!!!! I'm not sure of many symptoms your baby would have. I imagine gassiness could be possible due to increase veggies and fruits??? Also, I believe that for a while my son would have an upset tummy when I ate great amounts of garlic. Now he's fine, but I did taper off there for a while on the garlic! :D :D

Shes 11 months, She seems to be transitioning really well and Im not suprised because I havnt been feeding her many cooked foods before the transition. What kind of diet did you have your little one on? I have her eating soaked oat groats blended with almondmilk and banana for breakfast and then green smoothie throughout the day and fulling her up with avocado, berries ect... Is there anything thats crucial for the raw baby other than breast milk? Thanks

I'm certainly no expert, but I can tell you that aside from breastmilk my son eats avocado for breakfst. He also eats bananas, cherries, apples, peaches, plums, cucumber, smoothies, carrots, applesauce....LOL. He loves grapefruit, too, and he eats my salads. Hmmmm....my feeling is that if they are getting enough love and light they'll let ya know when they are hungry, and what they're hungry for!!! :D Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm certainly no expert nor do I have a child lol, but here's my brain chugging along. It's better to eat raw and have the toxins come out rather than continue eating SAD and the baby still getting those toxins that way and NEVER get clean (after detox on raw). See what I'm getting at? I'm sure some symptoms maybe occure, but not many since the baby hasn't had xx years on SAD.

I think the answer is similar to morning sickness answer - the body gives mother morning sickness so she could detox and stop putting toxins to her body - the body thinks it is better to detox and even loose some weight than keep going the same way.
I would not worry, but if you did not start yet, you could go slow. The hardest detox is the first month, after this it happens just once in a while.
