I love that you can blend blueberries and the mix will gel so you can have a pie just from that!

However, I can't take those little seeds. They just aren't nice. Here you have this nice gel and you hope it will be at least close to what you knew 'before raw', but it is all gritty.

People with diverticulosis can't eat them, and it is very hard for people with dentures.

Has anyone tried straining them out? What would be the most successful method? Does the mixture still gel? I'd like to get some input before I use up a bunch more blueberries on it and can't eat it. For some reason, eating them whole doesn't bother as much. Maybe it's that mental expectation thing.

I've never noticed seeds either

Are you SURE you are not using BLACKberries?

Do you mean the skins? I think if you blend them long enough they will smooth out.

Seriously? You don't find seeds in blueberries? They are really tiny little round seeds and feel like little sharp grains of sand when they have been in the blender. I have a KTec which totally liquifies everything, so there is no chance of pieces of skin being left unblended. I am sure they are blueberries. I have picked them for years as well as bought them and they are the same.

So have some of you blended blueberries and ended up with a smooth, grit-free gel? I am jealous.

Do you have a photo?

We used to have a boysenberry bush and they were full of seeds. I used to make jelly instead of jam because the jelly was strained and it tasted so much better without those seeds.

How sad that you dont like them, I have no advice for you on how to get them out. Those little nubby seeds are actually my favorite part about blueberries! They are like hard, but also soft. I love to chew them up under my front teeth. Maybe I'm just weird.

I know what you mean about the seeds. I have noticed them too. YOu aren't crazy.

I am sure they are in there. I was probally so busy enjoying the taste of the blueberries to notice the seeds. Next time I am going to see if I notice, LOL.

Yes, that is the sad part-I do like to do the same thing. Those little seeds are kinda cute, but not under my dentures

I make raspberry nut milk shakes, and I don't like the sandy seeds, (it's because they are chopped fine by the blades of the blender) so this is how I do it

I blend all the berries, then straing them through a nut milk bag, then I add that to what ever I am making, you could juice them I imagine, but it is so quick and easy to just strain through the bag.

Well, I cut open a blueberry and still couldn't find any seeds!

I don't think it is actually a seed, although it's a fruit so it should have them, but I think when the blueberries get chopped up, the little rough 'collars' that they have at the top are chopped much smaller and those have a soft, seed-like texture.

I was thinking the same thing. I get those things in my smoothies all the time when I add blueberries but I just thought they were the skins. You can see them when you look at the top of this page in the header. They are the hard crowns.

Aha! Another one who doesn't like little gritty specks!
That's what I was wondering, RP. I was wondering if whatever it is that makes it gel would be strained out too though. Have you tried making the blueberry gel that way? I am going to get some blueberries soon and try it. If I strain them and just end up with juice, so be it.
