When I Make Granola, Do I Need To Sprout The Buckwheat ?? I Tried And It Has A Very Strange Taste...too Earthy! It Is Fine When I Make Crackers Or Pizza Crust, But With Something Sweet, Sprouted Taste Wierd.
Does Anyone Else Find This?

I love sprouted buckwheat, dehydrated, in my cereal! I mix it with raisins, dried peaches or nectarines, rolled oats, and chopped nuts and cover it with almond milk. YUM! :D

I think that all cerials should be sprouted as they are not meant to be eaten and are undigestable.

I always sprout the buckwheat for granola. My husband loves it, but I don't care for buskwheat in any fashion.

Maybe you sprouted it too long....it's sprouts quite quickly. Also, it develops a gelatinous film which I always rinse of before making the granola. Change the water at least twice a day, or you might get a funny taste.

I think it depends on the recipe. Tonight, I am making a buckwheat cereal from Raw Food Real World that only calls for the buckwheat being soaked. Sort of like nuts in various recipes -- depends on the recipe. Alissa mentions this in her book about textures of soaked versus unsoaked.
