...and I did!!! This is sort of about raw food, because my children do & will eat raw. BUT- this post is so much more! Some of you already know that we have been working through the adoption of a daughter, and today we got our first photo of her! It was an afternoon of tears, hope, love, and all that other good stuff!!! She is in Mumbai (Bombay), and I will be going to India to get her around Christmas. The hold up is all due to the Indian courts. Anyway... this forum is a big part of my daily life... not a post goes by that I don't read. So, as I sit here tonight, my 3 year old is in bed, the house is quiet, and I just had to let out one more scream! I'm so in love! :) So, here she is.... Priya Joy Edwards- the newest addition to the raw food family!

What an adorable little girl!! First of all, thank you soo much!! It is amazing that you are adopting and thank you for helping a child!! We went to St. Petersburg, Russia to adopt my sister 9 years ago this December and came home on Christmas Eve and we would have gone back in a heart beat, but due to unforseen situations with my sister, who was 11 at the time and is now 20, we couldn't. It will be an experience you will never forget and bringing a child into your home is the best thing!

So thank you once more and more importantly: CONGRATULATION!

Thank you guys all so much! If I could beam her picture across the sky right now, I would! :) And thank you mrandal for all the things you said. Adoption is an incredible experience. Our son is our biological child, and what I think is amazing is that we're feelign each and every same EXACT emotion that we felt when I was pregnant. I knew ofcourse that we would be elated, but I thought that adoption woudl stir up new & different emotions... but everything is the same. Oh- and she was born on my father's birthday... my father who died suddenly 3 years ago. We all know it's a sign... just that little bit of extra "YES! SHE'S YOURS!"... as if we needed it! ha! The thng I find amazing about adoption is that in every way she is meant to be with us, just as our son is. It makes no difference how she gets to us... just that she does.... and for waht ever reason, the path that she is meant to take starts in India. I so strongly believe that these big life events are fated... and I'm in awe of Nature/God/Love/or whatever you want to call "It" right now. Hard to explain... but she won our heart thagt very first moment we saw her tiny picture.
Thank you guys all so much for listening to me with this! Oh- and I plan on eating as many different unknown fruits as possible while I'm in India! :)

Congrats, Amanda! How exciting! My husband and I are prayerfully considering adoption in the future. If we do, we will be adopting children with special needs. We are awaiting are home inspection. We are still trying to get pg. Doctors say there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to have children. Despite that fact I still would really love to adopt. We will see what the future brings. I am soooo happy for you.

Best of luck with growing your family & everything that goes along with that! :) We've always thought about adoption... and who knows why or how we figured out that this was the right time & place. Everything just falls into place when we let it, and have faith that some things are just meant to be. You'll have to let me know how everything goes for you.... both pregnancy & adoption are long, stressful, and wonderful experiences. Gather your strength! ha! :)

My mom always says that I was born from her stomach, and my sister was born from her heart. I like that saying a lot. You can tell her that some day. ^_^

Thank you, I will. We are going for our orientation on the 24th of this month. We still have alot of fears about the process. Maybe they are unneeded fears...but it is both overwhelming...and emotional... and exciting. We are also talking about fostering children before we decide to adopt. Maybe many of our questions and fears will be answered in the orientation. Oh I am still soooo excited for you.

AWESOME!
What a Beauty and oh by the way is SHE lucky to have parents that understand about the way she should eat!!!

Both my boys are adopted and we have 2 birthdays their actual birthday and the day that it was signed sealed and delivered with the documents to prove it they were 100% ours.

(((HUGS)))

Congrats!! :)

Wow.... thank you guys so much!

Apasaraw- Yes... we did know that- but not when we were thinking about the name. My husband has always loved the name, but it was after I found out what it meant that I was completely sold! :)

Graciebeliever- That's a wonderful idea! We were talking to someone recently that has a biological son & an adopted younger daughter.... in addition to birthdays, they have a "brother & sister" day, where they have a big party for the day she came home & they became siblings. I thought that was a really nice idea too!

iloverawfoods- All that fear is so natural & important! Questioning everything lets you get it all out & leaves your heart open for a wonderful experience! I'll be thinking about you guys on the 24th! I don't know if this is one of your fears, but someone in our family said something a little weird to us a few years ago. We were talking about adoption & they said "the problem with adoption is that you never know what your going to get". I was horrified. -but tried to remember that they were just ignorant. -and they were talking to the wrong person. :) I quickly pointed out all the crazy people in our family, all the different personalities, unexpected health issues. Life is just that way- you "never know what your goign to get". One thing you can be sure of is that your children are no accident.... biological or adopted. If the end up with you, it's exactly as it should be. :)

ChaiLife- Yes they will be sending new pics! I would love to post them! I just hope no one minds. I guess as long as I keep pointing out that she is going to be a raw foodist, then it's ok. :) ha!

Congratulations on your baby girl! I pray the time passes quickly for you.

Both of my kids are adopted, one from Russia and one from Kazakhstan. Yesterday was my daughter's "Gotcha Day" meaning to her the day "we got 'ya" (We're from Texas so it's slang). We celebrate it like a smaller birthday. Adoption is a wonderful experience. The kids just blossom like little flowers when they leave the orphanage. I wish more people would consider it. :)
