I introduced my mother to raw foods beacause of her many health issues. Varicose veins was certainly an issue for her, but not a reason in itself to start raw foods.
She calls me a couple of days ago and reports that her painful varicose veins are actually diappearing. The bumps and dark lines and pain are all going away. She is amazed. Now, my mom looks for any excuse she can to have a bite or two of cooked dinners. And she is always throwing reasons out at why she should be able to eat cooked. I think that this just might have made a believer out of her. :) Plus she has lost 18 pounds and is feeling so much better!
Just thought I would pass along another raw food report. It is truly amazing.

That is sooo awesome. You must have one hip mama. How long has she been at it?

Wow! I was just gonna ask that question! I guess raw does do that! Does anyone know how well it works on cellulite?

My varicose veins (genetic - my mom, aunt, counsin, etc. have sooooo many) also stopped hurting very soon after going raw. Now I've been visualizing them disappearing!! LOL! I KNOW it's possible. Congrats to your mom!

:) When i started and stuck with eating raw the veins in one of my legs disappeared and in the other leg it's slowly showing so signs of clearing up.
Wow talk about making changes for the better.

I have some broken spider veins (capilaries, I think) on my face. I've had them for over 5 years.
What can I do for them? I've been using a cream by Jason (the organic brand) that's supposed to clear up spider veins, bruises, and so on, but I've used it for over a year, and no help.

I am so proud of my momma! She has been doing this for about a month but not "religiously". What I mean by that is that she recognizes that her weak times are in the evening (mine too!) so she has a spoonful of whatever she is cooking for the rest of her family. She is raw the rest of the day though....at least that is what she tells me. She does have a green smoothie EVERY day. Usually with spinach and grapes and apple and banana. She is a fruit lover.
I think that this has really made a convert out of her and she is out there spreading the "gospel." LOL Now her sister is going raw too!
Yes, there is hope. Keep eating raw and visualizing smooth legs. :)

Geez, my vein sticks waaaay out and snakes down quite a bit. We're talking major varicosity here, not "just" spider veins, though I have those, too, around my ankles. I just said the heck with it after hiding under jeans and only long pants for ages now and am wearing capri length and shorts this hot summer. If it bothers anyone, well ... they don't have to look!!
Okay, so I have to brag about my mom, too. She's in something like her 5th month of raw. At 79, I think that's quite a coup. Very occasionally, she'll have a piece of toast when she has breakfast with her friends, but, other than that, she has fruit for breakfast, makes green smoothies, pates, soups, more often big salads, uses her dehydrator and her kitchen is totally purged of all processed and cooked things -- according to Alissa's book -- and she took the Level 1 class (she liked the teacher, dontcha know - wink). She weighs less than she did in high school now. Most importantly, she's reduced her meds and eliminated one. Yay!!! When people tell me it's too hard to go raw, I just think of her changing her habits of sooo many years (including daily coffee and sweets) and just smile. If she can do it, anyone can!

Yep, for my first 1-1/2 yrs or so, she just watched ... and asked questions. Then, one day, she asked if I thought it would work for her. Well!!! You know my answer. Now, she's turning her little section of Oceanside on its head. When she eats with her friends, she brings her own salad or fruit or whatever and they eat their eggs, bacon, toast, coffee ... or desserts or whatever ... and she just keeps getting younger and healthier!
My sister in Tucson is most recently raw -- she's been steadily losing 1/2 to 1 lb. a day -- for about 3 months. I'm very proud of her.
And, my cousin in Chula Vista is about 9 months raw. He owns his own business in San Diego where he works long hours six days a week. The kitchen area there is a raw foodist's delight.
I didn't strong arm any of them, either. They made their own decisions in their own time.
I gotta say -- raw rocks!

How fabulous! I love hearing these stories of healing through raw and I'm hoping that once they see the benefits I receive my familly will be inspired to eat raw too.

RawTruth, That is so amazing about your family! Carry forth the good news. :D
I love hearing about your mom. That is so wonderful. You know, I need to hear these stories from time to time. Sometimes I start feeling weak and these stories bring me back to my senses.
About your own varicose veins, just start imagining them GONE. I wouldn't worry what people thought either. If I worried what people thought, I wouldn't be eating raw.

Hi there! That is so wonderful, & I hope it does convince your mom to completely go raw! It's such a healthy way to eat. :D
Thanks for sharing this story. I wish I could share it w/ my mom, but she's probably just going to give me a weird look. Both my mom & aunt are very thin women, but they have major problems w/ varicose veins! I, myself, have very light ones, but I'm convinced they'll disappear eventually w/ the story you shared here. :p
