Hi!

I read on a thread here that someone couldn't stop eating dates and nuts, well I am recovering from an eating disorder and my body just wants nut butter's, should I keep giving this to it? Does it really need it or does it just get addicted cause the nut butter says raw but reall isn't?

If you have any advice, please let me know!

There is a difference between listening to your body and just a plain old bad habit.
If your body is craving a whole food such as banana then it is probably worth listening to but I am not so sure about eating lots of nut butter.

Because you are craving the nut butter, you could be craving fat. Try eating a few whole nuts and see if it does the same thing for you. If it does than I would say go ahead and eat the nuts or nut butter or avocado or whatever because in that case your body probably really does need the fat right now...

i went through a period (right after cutting out all cooked foods) where i ate tons of fats- i mean tons! a couple avocados a day, anywhere from 2 tbsp. to a half cup of almond butter (rejuvenative foods brand,) a tbsp. or 2 of coconut oil, flax oil on salads, etc.. after some time, my body naturally wanted fewer fats, and i craved greens like crazy (to the point where i would be ready to go to bed and still craving another huge green smoothie) but not alot of fruit. lately, during these summer months, i have been eating more fruit. although, i still eat more fat than it sounds most people do, i feel better than when i don't and really believe your tastes/cravings will change as your body requires different nutrients.

FATS FATS FATS!

Before I began my Raw Journey, I craved em, felt drawn to them, thought about them and I think I even had dreams about them.

I my past life, I craved fats and salt, a real bad duo. I was at almost total endocren (spelling?) shut down.

It took 3 days (and I indulged in any Raw Fats I wanted) started to level off and I am now sitting pretty with little or no cravings for lots of fats.

I use avocadoes whenever I want, I sprinkle Olive oil (sparingly cuz I dont need much anymore) and Coconut oil in recipes and I have found much more delight from the flavor of food that is naked :)

I wouldn't worry too much, just go with the flow, eat some avocadoes and fill that fat craving. they should lessen

Thank you all for the advice!

It is avocado's too, but a lot of nut butter! I try to eat nuts, and even the soaked almonds make me feel weird and they don't seem to digest well. I have been drinking more almond milk, and maybe I will try to eat more avocado's intead of so much nut butter! I don't know if it is my body or my head though, maybe the nut butter's are addictive? Wait, let me refrase that, I think they are! Cause you can eat so much of them and not get evry full, but if you eat home made raw almond butter that you made yourself, I can't seem to eat very much. I think they might do something to the store bough stuff, or else they say it is raw and it really isn't! So I will eat more avocado's, starting tomarrow. I'll tell you how it goes!

And I know I need more fats, cause I have always been like that, and I don't feel good if I don't eat enough. But I was wondering if the nut butter's are the best fat, probably not!

I believe its definitely a rite of passage. My body craved fats for a long time (I have been raw for 2 years). The cravings have died down tremendously but now I eat one avocado per day (usually every other day) and no nuts (I may re-introduce them later but my body is saying no right now). In the beginning though, I ate lots of nuts, avocados and included olive oil in my salads. I say go with it for now.

Peace.
