Hi. I'm on my third day of vacation and doing really well with raw. I couldn't wait to get on a computer and say hello and see how everyone is doing. Not to mention, I needed a little support from all of you.

Raw on vacation is easier than I thought. I have fruit for breakfast, nuts for snacks, smoothies (I ask the waiters to just blend a banana with whatever fruit they have...no fruit juice, sweeteners, or yogurt), salad buffets or salads from the menues when eating out. Each day I've had about 5% cooked foods. Yesterday it was 1/2 a croissant and today a little frozen yogurt (about 1/2 cup). And you know what? I'm doing this so casually that no one has commented about the way I'm eating!

On the down side, I'm feeling pretty bloated and gassy. And I've noticed some white coating on my tongue which is pretty unusual for me. Hmmm. Any thoughts? But on the good side, my blood sugar level is stable, I'm not nearly as hungry or thinking about food and I like eating so simply.

I know I could post this on my journal, but since there is a question (see above) maybe I can get a little advice on the gassy problem. My husband isn't enjoying it!

Debbie

TWIN:
Glad to hear that your lovely holiday is going great. Also that you are enjoying raw and are finding pleasure in simple meals and snacks.

Re: your tongue, it could very well be detox, as you are beginning to start to "clean" house. It could be the dairy you had, it could be a lot of things. I wouldn't stress unless it becomes unbearable.

Re: Gas. That is something that has been discussed a lot on the board, and I am sure there are some recent threads around here somewhere...try searching on "bloating"...You would likely get some relief from taking a digestive enzyme, preferably one with "alphagalactosidase' the enzyme that breaks down the starches and sugars found in beans and veggies. I would recommend a potent formula containing a variety of enzymes, but look for that ingredient, it is really great for vegetarians.

I hope that the gassiness subsides....

Cassy.:)

I had a similar experience (at the ease of vacationing at my mother's house) while vacationing. I ate alot of fresh fruit and salads. I snacked on nuts. No one commented on my eating behavior. Out of 5 days, I only ate cooked food twice (both dinners).

I did not feel any gas or had any coating on my tongue. Perhaps, due to I was just about 100% raw for about 3 months before visiting my mother.

Good Luck, Tracy
