Hey Friends!
Do any of you embody your raw food lifestyle with much pride--wearing it like a badge of honor? If so, which term do you prefer others to know you as?

Definitely Rawfoodist, as that is what I am, I don't do meat, dairy or honey, so I do EAT as a vegan, but one of my classic cars has leather seats, and some of my antique furtniture has leather, so I'm not 100% Vegan.
and I know that label is important to some people.
I am going toward fruitarian, as my progression through the raw lifestyle goes, and that is kind of fun, watching as I simply eat what I want, and not what I think I need, or "should" eat. LOL
I am eating almost only fruit these days, and that has a nice feel to it.

If i label myself i can fail..so i tell myself i will try to eat 90% raw and i forgive myself if i slip up.I am human
Also if you say you are raw foodist etc..people can be quite aggressive with their opinions. Its easier just to tell people you only feel like a salad or fruit.then they cant say" thats unhealthy etc etc."..I dont like to be made to protect or explain my way of life..so no labels for me.

I prefer the title raw vegan because when I say raw foodist a lot of people assume I eat raw meat and eggs and dairy or sushi, etc.

I must say that this is my reason as well. I think that rawfoodist sounds better but I am vegan first and raw second so I have to include it.

I hear ya on that ya'll. I prefer Rawfoodist b/c it sounds more contemporary but like you said some still assume we wat raw fish etc. However, I try to steer away from using Vegan. Seems like when I use this term, people start to already have the preconceptions and stereotypes of my lifestyle. Depending who I am talking to, I will interchange the terms. :)

no label in general, then a discussion if I feel the person would be receptive.

I can't be a raw vegan, because I love my leather:
furniture
wallet
purses
shoes !! Vinyl and canvas just don't cut it....
belts
but....because I buy 99% of my clothing and household furnishings second-hand, I don't 'support' the whole meat-leather industry. Just as I don't support outsourcing our labor in buying goods, first hand, from China, etc.
Back to RAW, I usually say that I am a rawfoodist....even if I do not meet the 100% mark, it encourages me to press in when I say it.

I use all of them in rotation and depending on who I'm talking to. For example, my parents just wouldn't understand the term 'naturalist' as meaning that I only eat raw, vegan food and they think that fruitarian is a made up term so I say raw vegan or rawfoodist around them and they get it.
