Yo Smiles,

You're starving youself.

Think about it.

Consult a professional nutritionist.

Peace,

Apples generally are not considered a sweet fruit. Would you feel the same after eating 5 bananas? Likely not. Sweet fruits like bananas, mangos, dates and persimmons are much more satiating. Try that instead. If you need to know the difference between acid, sub-acid and sweet fruits, check a food combining chart.

look into sensory specific satiety. The human body is pre-rigged to feel truly satiated after a broad spectrum is eaten. An example of this is let's say we have a massive dinner until we can't eat any more of it, we might actually want some dessert but more of the dinner items are out of the question. Same thing for eating only apples, you will not feel as satiated as if you eat a broad spectrum of foods. This is basic human genetic wiring to make sure we don't go around eating one thing all the time and get in all the things we need.

You've ONLY eaten 5 apples for an entire day????? OMG -- I'd be hungry too!

I'd still be hungry too! I'm hungry if I don't get fats with my food. Like a small handful of nuts, avocado, oil in the marinade . . . maybe it's mental.

Oooooh, that's what people mean when they roll their eyes around me and circle their pointing finger around their ears! :D

apples have alot of fiber.

I'd certainly want something more than just apples.

when I mono eat, it is with something really intensely tasty, like mangos, or pineapple, or melon, or well, just about anything but apples, I've never much cared for the, live in Washington state, go figure, they are free everywhere, we have 4 trees, all of our neighbors have trees, there are free apples everywhere you look here. LOL

same with blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, huckleberries, salmon berries, they all grow wild here.

LOL, so much fruit, so little time.

How about adding something a bit more filling like a few nuts?..Lemon juice with apples helps me not feel so hungry. If you are still hungry it might be more that your body is bored iwth just apples..try variety!..that always satisfys me...

Why would you expect to eat just one food and think it would fill you up? You need to eat a balanced diet. Have some nuts with it. And maybe some veggies.

Try chopping up the apples and having them in a bowl with some cashew or macadamia cream - yummy! I can't eat apples on their own and this is what I came up with. The cashews should help to fill you up more.

I think having the food in a bowl makes you feel you've actually had a meal, not just nibbled some fruit. Psychologically that may help.

My advice is to stick with eating the mono fruit meal, but eat more apples until you feel satiated. It may take 10 or 15 apples, but they are lower in calories. I usually eat 15 bananas at a time in order to get sufficient calories. If you can't eat that many apples, try eating a higher calorie fruit like bananas or mangoes.

She is not starving herself. As she stated, she never said that that was all she ate in the entire day, she just said that she had recently had 5 apples. How did people suddenly deduce that it was all she was eating? How odd. Going to a nutritionist probably wouldn't help much either, unless it were a raw, vegan supporting nutritionist and they aren't too easy to find all over the world.

Do you normally mono meal? If not, perhaps you can have your 5 apples in a nice waldorf salad, that may satisfy you more.

Everything is good with almond butter:)

I find apples don't quench my appetite either. I don't know what it is, but I am hungry right after I eat them. Now that I am eating a raw food diet, I have opened myself up to so many other fruits, I don't think I've bought an apple in a long time.

I like a good apple in the fall, when they are in season. I usually don't eat them in the summer, but dh still juices them.

The body is wired in such a way that you will feel hungry if you lack nutrients. If you eat one apple, or one hundred apples, you will still feel hungry if you are deficient in nutrients which are lacking in apples.

I do Apples as a snack. I have always done them as a snack and not a meal. I think they are refered to as a negative, is bacause they are filling and full of fiber but low in calories. An Apple can stave my hunger. Also I find Apple juice filling. Fruit does not stay with you as long as other food. So that is why you need to eat it more ofter.........................

My hint:
I often eat apples and am very satisifed. I do not eat all types of apples though. Only ripe AND sweet ones. Like, "red delicious" variety. I can't stand unripe/sour apples and would certainly not feel satsfied on them.

Smiley24_7, it sounds like you were given some wonderful advice. I am an advocate of eating enough of what you want until you are satisfied, especially when first starting raw. No matter what you are eating, even if it is mono, and your not full and still hungery, your body is telling you to add more to whatever you are eating. You are at a
wonderful stage of your journey. Discovery. Now is the time to not only listen to your body but figure out ways of satisfying it. If you are not fully satisfied after eating 5 apples, then as suggested simply move on to 5 bananas or other fruits if fruit is what you crave. Great advice. Or other suggestions were add more with the apples, like nuts, almond butter, salad.

I would not say that what you are going through is all that uncommon. Your body is trying to tell you something. All you have to do is listen and satisfy it. Sometimes it comes to you instantly and sometimes it takes a little figuring out. Either way relax, enjoy, experiment more, and have fun. Variety and change are the spices of life.

You are doing great! Keep going!!
Embrace your raw journey
