This is a serious warning - you should never try this!

Or you will become addicted to it just like I did...

The culprit: ONION BREAD

I tried the onion bread recipe I found in this forum, very simple, just onions and ground flax and sunflower and some salt and olive oil.

I ate the first batch (half recipe) within two days! With raw mayo and Alissa's spinach dip. Made me spend a lot of time on the loo too :D

It's too good to be true, people, too simple - it's the best thing raw thing I have had in a long time!

Thanks to the person, who "invented" it - unfortunately I do not know who to thank!

Oh I was going to try this but never got to, I believe it was Rawpriestess's. I am planning on making my grandparents in Maine a raw meal...so maybe I will use this as a raw pizza crust...or maybe make alissa's pasta marinara with that on the side? My grandpa always has to have his white bread and butter with every meal...I wonder what i could use for butter? I rarely make recipes for myself as I just can't spend that much time and I like eating simply...but I'll have time in Maine. Any way, thanks for the review!

Thanks RP, it is one of the rare pics I like myself ;)

The onion bread is simply incredible - and so simple to make!

gina, you will find it here http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15041&highlight=onion+bread

My onion bread is more like crackers, not moist inside. I also make burger-like little patties which are nice to stack with tomatoes, onions, raw mayo and avo.

Hi Madmel,

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your new photo. You look so good! Was your old photo before raw? Have you noticed big changes after going raw because the 2 photos look so different. I think you look at least 10 years younger in this new photo. So beautiful.

Okay, that was a challenge, saying not to try this. I woke up at 3am for some reason and decided that was a great time to make onion bread. So I ground and chopped and mixed and spread, and OMGoodness! the SMELL I woke up to later in the morning!!! It was - what shall I say - DIVINE! Worth the weepy eyes from peeling the onions.

By the way, I chopped my flax in the bullet blender, then chopped the sunflower seeds in the food processor. Then I added the oil and nama shoyu to that. Then I chopped the onions very coarsely right into the FP. Then I pulsed the FP until the onions were chopped, then I put in the ground flax and pulsed it a couple more times. Transferred it into a bowl and gave it a couple of stirs, then spread it onto the Teflex sheets.

Question: They still aren't dry and I think I may have spread them too thickly. Can some of you give me hints on how to spread the mixes thinly and EVENLY? What are your little tricks to get it even?

Does anyone get this really crisp? What happens to the onions then? Don't they get too hard or even kind of a burnt look?

Does anyone have a recipe for onion bread that is not as crispy as Mel's would appear to be? I'm looking for something that would make easier sandwiches (more like cooked bread in texture rather than a cracker).

Also, flax doesn't seem to agree with me - really bad gas!! :D

Thanks.
