Hey everyone :),

Glad it's Saturday! Anyhow I am in the process of starting a raw diet. I just received my dehydrator in the mail the other day. I ordered a L'equip model and I noticed that it only came with 2 fruit leather sheets. I also noticed that the sheets were made out of plastic. I was wondering if using a thin plastic lid would also work and if anyone else had tried this.

I was also curious as to what kind of dehydrator everyone else uses and what they thought about it. Hope everyone has a good day! :)

Excalibur 9-tray. The best.

Are your sheets made out of plastic or teflex? You might try parchment paper and/or waxed.

If you search here, there are LOTS of threads on dehydrators ~ which people like, what they use instead of teflex, etc.

I have an Equip too. I think the Excalibur is probably the best and being able to slide out the trays would be a serious advantage over the Equip. However, the Excalibur was very expensive and my budget wuoldn't go that far.

I don't make fruit leathers but I know what you mean about only having two small trays. You can buy teflex sheets separately and I would think you could use those - unless your fruit is exceedingly runny and slips over the side!

I have made all sorts of things in my Equip - Alissa's book is well used - and it is doing the job I need it to do.

I like Revvell's idea about trying parchment paper. Has anyone tried this?

I tried the parchment paper in the beginning but it does go soggy if you put 'wet' ingredients on it. Best to get reusable teflex.
