It is time to introduce myself, share and contribute. I am Katalin. I have been leaning on all your wisdom and strenght for about 2 months now, since I became 100% raw (with the exception of an occasional coup of tea). The changes I have observed are as follows:

Clear skin: had adult acne for years and now they are all gone. My skin is just glowing and smoooooth :) I am constantly getting compliments on my complexion.

Bags and dark circles under eye are almost completely gone.

I am not sure, but it seems like that my moles are getting smaller.

Knee pain is gone: I am a runner and work out regularly. I had knee pain for years, but it is gone now. The routine that used to cause pain has no ill effect on me any longer.

More flexible: it feels like I am more flexible. Hard to explain, but it feels like that somehow my joints are “gliding” smoother and more freely.

My teeth are whiter.

What I appreciate the most is how much I have learned thus far about myself during this journey. I developed on all levels a much more intimate relationship with myself. It is pretty incredible.

I wanted to thank you all for all your support. Countless times, during my dark hours of detox, I have (well still am) leaned on your wisdom, loving and kind support. I want you all to know that I truly appreciate that you have the courage to follow your bliss and please remember that you have made a big difference in my life and I am sure many other lives that you donÂ’t even know about.

Love, katalin

Your post is very inspiring! I also had acne and it went away the first time I went raw. I am still waiting this time around, and it is one of the main things that keeps me strong, so thanks for the reminder!

I know exactly what you mean - I'm about where you are in my raw journey, and I feel less fragile. Before, it seemed like if I even moved a little wrong, I'd pull something and it would take six weeks to heal. So I was starting to get cautious and slow about moving. But that seems to have reversed itself.

Congratulations on your two months!

Congratulations Katalin!!!! That's wonderful! Do you mind me asking how long it took for your acne to go away. I know that eveyone is different, but I suffer from acne too and when you said that you have a clear complexion now, it really helped me to believe in what I am doing even more. I'm on day 10 of 100% raw and I do see a little bit of a difference. I'm thinking it takes time tough!

Thanks for sharing! It's very inspiring.

Can you tell us how bad your acne was prior to raw? How long did it take for you to see improvement? Did you limit the amount of sweet fruits when you were all raw or were you pretty much eating anything as long as raw? Sorry for so many questions, but I've had acne for about 1.5 years now, and I just started all raw a few days ago. I was high raw for about 2 months before this. Also, I read so much about sugar and candidas, and I'm afraid my acne is caused by candidas. So, I'm not sure whether I should limit my fruit intake.

You live in Menlo Park? I also read your profile and you are a medical student at Stanford? I live about 10 miles north of you. :) However, I've been looking for a place around Mountain View because I will be going to attend Chinese Medicine school in that area. Would you be interested in finding a place together? It would be so great to have a rawfoodist roommate, especially when both of us will be going to school in the health field.

My teeth are whiter.

I have noticed this as well but I thought maybe my mind was playing tricks on me. I never thought eating raw would make my teeth whiter. :D

Hello everyone :)

Thank you very much for all your loving words. I very much appreciate them.

To respond to your questions about acne: I have had adult acne for over a decade. It was not too bad, but at any given time I had 4-5 big pimples (they would grow pretty big and were inflamed/red before the puss would develop), blackheads and white heads. According to my beautician my pimples were somewhat strange as the white pussy stuff set very deep in my skin so they would not come out when tried to remove them, instead they became more inflamed and they took a very long time to heal. I even went to see a dermatologist, got prescription (Retinol A) cream. That has helped somewhat initially, but burned and dried my skin, so I ended up a bright red face and peeling skin. Not a very pretty sight LOL. So, I gave up on that as well.

It did not take long for my skin to clear up after going raw. Maybe a couple of weeks. My blackheads are mostly gone as well, and just yesterday I noticed, with a huge grin on my face, that the whiteheads on my chin and between my eyebrows are mostly gone as well. That makes me very happy as they were really big and very visible. It seems that my pores shrank as well. I have gotten a few new pimples since going raw. Very few-namely 3, now you know how obsessed I am as I kept track of the number of pimples since going raw ;) However, they did not get inflamed/pussy and healed very quickly.

I wash my face with Dr. BronnerÂ’s liquid soap interchangeably with honey (courtesy of Rawpriestess, thank you). I use coconut oil at night and jojoba oil during the day as a moisturizer. At one point for about six months I used jojoba oil (before I went raw), but at that time it made my skin worse, so I know that it is the diet that has changed my complexion and not what I use externally.

I have to add, that I have been a very clean eating vegetarian for about 15 years, with about 50-60% raw, as far as milk goes I only ate feta cheese made out of sheepÂ’s milk but had grains. When I went raw I gave up all milk and grain, and embraced the 100% raw diet all at once. So, I am not exactly sure if it was the elimination of milk or grain or the 100% raw food that did the trick.

jjaj: to be fair, I gave up coffe as well so I am not sure if it is whiter because of less staining or the diet. I had to state this, once again the scientist is coming out of me ;)

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any other questions, I am very happy to respond. You were there for me in my time of need and I would love to be there for all of you when you need support :)

Love, k

Linda, email me regarding the housing situation. Very interesting that you brought this up as I am currently looking for a new place. But, there are no coincidences, right ;)

OOooOooo I wish I could join your fun raw food housing situation. I'm starting pharmacy school at UCSF in the fall. I'm too far from the both of you :(

Kaitlin, congratulations again. I wish you the best of luck and health on your journey.

Hi K,

Wow, your acne sounds very much like mine, except that I have maybe 50+ whiteheads on on forehead.

I've been using jojoba as well, for a few months already. I tried coconut oil but didn't agree w/it. I mix jojoba w/aloe.

I also wash my face w/honey, nothing else.

I hope I have good luck w/raw like you did. (praying)

How can I e-mail you?
