Hi,

I'm thinking of adding Kelp to my raw foods. I've heard it's great for the hair, scalp and skin due to being rich in minerals. Does anyone else have kelp regularly? Is kelp powder usually sold raw? I know of a raw food website that sells it but about 20% of what they sell is not raw so I don't know if kelp powder is generally sold unheated. I've also heard from one source the kelp is "loaded" with salt. Is this true - and anything to worry about? Any comments about kelp in general would be great!

Hi,

I have a container of Raw Organic Kelp Granules. I use it every time I make a salad. I use it as a replacement for salt. As far as being loaded with salt: It is a sea vegetable therefore there is a salty taste to it, such as Nori. It has the natural salts in it, but NOT Added to it.

try www.seaveg.com
They have raw, certified organic whole leaf kelp and kelp granules for very good prices, especially in bulk. (A pound of seaweed is TONS!)
I have ordered from them, and was satisfied. They are also a company of very good repute, and cater certain items for rawbies specifically.
I have lots of great recipes that include kelp and other seaweeds if you are interested.
I recomend laver, alaria, raw nori sheets, kelp, and sea lettuce from this website.
Also, Whole Foods carries some of their products, but not in bulk.
