Has anybody here ever done the Master Cleanse? The one with the homemade "lemonade" with cayanne pepper and maple syrup? Am just interested in hearing about personal experiences regarding this cleanse as I'm interested in doing it sometime in the near future. Otherwise, anyone know of a good, detailed book on the Master Cleanse?

Thanks!

I picked up the book last week at Whole Foods. Let us know how it goes. I feel like I really should do it soon.

I am on day 8 of the MC and things are going well. I personally find this forum helpful for me while on the cleanse.

Here is my journal.

I went semi raw for about 2 weeks and then decided to try the MC. I know there is a lot of controversy around here about the MC but I think it has worked good for me. I was eating a traditional SAD diet, never fasted or juiced before so I think I made the right decision for me. I know I was detoxing with the raw food but I wanted to kind of jump start it so I wasn't feeling lousy every day for the next few months. I have 5 boys and can't be constantly lying around because I don't feel good (even though I have been doing that a lot lately :) ) I am hoping that when I finish I will be feeling a bit better and will make the raw diet go that much smoother.

Hi there,

I just started the master cleanse today. Actually as I type I am drinking my first brew...not bad!

Last night and this morning I used the herbal laxative tea, (which the book recommends) and I have eliminated 3 times already today! hoooray!

If you go on Amazon.com and type in "Master Cleanser" the book by Stanley Burroughs should come up. There you can read all the customer reviews...there are tons of positive stories on there!

I am also doing the 30 day challenge and starting with the master cleanse on the first 10 days. I'll be updating my journal daily, so feel free to check it out to see how this goes!!!

Best of luck,
Elyse

Hey! I've been on the MC for 5 days now. I have done it many, many times with wonderful results. I have never seen anything negative about it until today. Where is there a site that mentions something negative? this cleanse has been around for over 60 years. It has ALL the nutrients you need to remain healthy and energetic. I have never felt hungry or ANY adverse effects. In fact, my whole family is doing it with me. It's veRY EASY!!
fURTHERMORE, ABOUT THE SYRUP.... it is recommended that u use grade B (formerly called grade C) it is the end run in the process and contains the most vitamins/minerals...it is also darker and sweeter. Most maple farmers use this(at home)as it is considered the best...NOT grade A that u find in all the grocery stores. Grade B can only be found in the health food stores. Also, buy ORGANIC if at all possible...for obvious reasons! Good luck!

Hi all. first post

I have been fasting/cleansing for 15 years. I used to own a natural food store. I am very close to only eating raw food. I have a journal I wrote about cleansing using the master cleanse. PM me and I will send it to all interested. It's about 10 pages long.

I started a fast/cleanse 7/23 and keeping another journal.

I just love fasting/cleansing

Seaside Daisy,

Don't recall getting your journal. Please send again to onetoyou@hotmail.com. If you note "Journal" then I will know it is expected and not mistake it for unwelcome mail.

Thanks

Hello,

Starting the MC tomorrow. Sipping My Lax tea right now. Ugggh-don't really care for the licorice taste, but hey... I can deal with it.

My goal is to cleanse for a minimum of 10 days and then start the 30 day challenge in Sept, but depending on results, I will see how long i will do it.

;)

Daffle,
Can you tell me if you lose a few pounds do you regain if you continue to eat raw?

I've done the MC for 21 days with fantastic results. Lost 21 lbs and kept 16 of them off. After the first couple of days I had no hunger, loved the lemonade and was high, happy and energetic the entire time.

The reason it's controversial here on this forum is because maple syrup is not raw. There are also people here who are anti-fasts/cleanses of any sort.

I did the MC for 7 days in 2004 I didn't really notice any difference afterwards. I also never could do the salt water. I did the Smooth Move tea twice a day instead. A lot of people have great luck with it. Good luck!

ETA: I liked the lemonade!

Hello,

What is the recipe?

Thanks

Is this it? I found this online.

The below recipe make 60 oz of "lemonade", enough for 6 to 10 oz glasses. Although your requirements may be different than mine. Please read the book to determine your needs. 60 oz is sufficient for a "reduction" cleanse.

60 oz water per day (or 10 oz per glass) -- I use Crystal Geyser Spring Water.
12 tablespoons Organic Grade B Maple Syrup (or 2 tbsp. per glass)
12 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (or 2 tbsp. per glass)
a little over half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (or 1/10 tsp. per glass) or to taste
